Tfw your parents doesn't give a flying heck about what I do with computer ;_;
It must be really nice, talking with father about computer game(s).

He looks at my fanart and we discuss stuff while working on our webcomic, so that's how it came to be that he got interested.

Darn, man I'm jealous. My parents don't even understand memes. And most of my friends' parents do, so whenever there's a conversation and the topic of memes crops up (which it always seems to) my parents are like: "Er... Mannequin Challenge? We are number one? What are you talking about, dear?"

Yeah I think thats ever gamer's dream

To be fair though my dad works alot and when I tried to get my mom into with a word scramble game where you spell words the longer the word the more damage as well as some bosses being weak to certain things got her into it.

But she didn't understand the strategy in the game and using certain words. So that failed.

I still try though

My dad does make fun of gaming cliches though and makes jokes on them which is always amusing.

Heheh.  My mom is like...middling when it comes to computer/Internet culture knowledge, but she _is_ the one I can thank for growing up as nerdy as I did, in general.  Other people have parents that laugh at or don't understand their interest in say, Star Trek, anime, fantasy RPGs...she's the one who _raised me that way_.  And yeah, she looks at my fanart, although sometimes I have to explain the context.
When it comes to the internet, she's on there, but doesn't participate much--but she's like, at the level of don't-know-but-willing-to-learn?  Like, she doesn't know the latest memes on her own, but when I tell her about them she listens.  Although sometimes I have to end my explanation with "And no, _I_ don't know why it's a thing either."  : P

Mind you, I'M never, ever in on the memes/trends when they start, either, so the website "Know Your Meme" is invaluable for me.  Before, there were years when I'd have to actually type stuff like, "What are you talking about?  I know you're all referencing _something_, but I don't know it!  Please tell me, this is driving me crazy!"  Now I don't have to admit my ignorance to other people _or_ have them go "Ha ha" and dangle the information in front of me mockingly, either!  :)
