Earlier this day, I was having a discussion with a friend while they were playing Don't Starve. Here's how it went:

The Indigestable Scientist: You know..it's kind of weird. Every character makes the same inventions.
Lewd Weeb: As Wilson
The Indigestable Scientist: Wendy and Wilson: *Find out each other exist, visit each other's bases, they both made the SAME thing with their own ideas*
The Indigestable Scientist: They should have their own style.
The Indigestable Scientist: Wilson's looking like the original, science-y one.
The Indigestable Scientist: Willow's could be scorched.
The Indigestable Scientist: Webber's could have webs on it.
The Indigestable Scientist: Wolfgang's could look poorly built, instead of everyone having the same exact invention without knowing each other.

I thought that was a great idea, especially in Multiplayer. I just imagine how awkward it is when Wilson and some other character meet, and it turns out their bases look exactly the same. It would add some character diversity.

Now, I apologize if this idea was already thought of, but I thought it was worth speaking about.

Its a neat idea, but the problem with it is that it would probably take a lot of time to make all the different designs for everything. Having to add like 11 different designs for a bunch of items is harder than to just make one design.

But hey, its a neat idea, just dont think it will happen.

I had a similar idea for a mod that I'm working on. Basically, each player character would have the knowledge of some of the most basic things in the game and could craft them without any machines like rope, straw roll, rabbit earmuffs, straw hat, garlandsl, torch, axe, pickaxe, shovel, possubly some other tools, basic farm, drying rack, campfire, firepit, spear and possibly some other things.

Now, many other things would be character specific or simply require external knowledge to be able to learn how to craft, which is how blueprints would work (instead of them being consumed upon reading, all blueprints could be read by all players if they don't know the recipe already and would still be present if read by someone). So, something like magic maxhines would only be known from the beginning by someone like Maxwell, with most other characters needing to discover some things and craft certain things to have "ideas" pop up, kind of like skins, which would last a certain period of time before disappearing, but being possible to reobtain under certain conditions (creating the mechanic of player characters remembering and forgetting ideas).

To add to that, I was thinking about players still needing machines to craft any item that requires one, kind of like with thulecite stuff and the other things recently introduced.

The whole thing has loop-holes so far, as I've described them, but the general concept is there (as an idea, I've yet to fiddle with this in code).

Why should Wolfgang have poorly-built things???

It was a simple explanation from them. Maybe he's just not the best carpenter.

The Indigestable Scientist: He prolly wouldn't know what he's doing, that or he builds it and he can't control his own strength
The Indigestable Scientist: unless he's a wilson level wimpy weeb

Who knows, maybe Wolfgang would have the best structures, becuase of how strong he is.
