How do you handle "locusts-type" players

Recommended Posts

World with 5 player slots. We got a really nice base and supplies, eg: 3 fridges almost completely full, dried meat etc.

Then the winter started. In the meantime, some players log off and new ones came. They ask for food and I made several thermal stones for them.

The result was --> when spring started we didn't have any food... and in my inventory there was like 0 stone and 2 flints... It was similar to locust invasion (except the one guy who also came in winter and was really helpful).

I do not complain about giving them food or thermal stones, if only later they bring to base some stone, food or would help us in any way...

1. Explain easy ways to replace the food like 3 ice + 1 monster meat = meatballs

2. If they still don't help try saying everything again.

3. They still don't help? Call them to a corner, equip a non-conductive clothing and spam a certain red book.

You don't use Wicker? Well, they nerfed the telelocator staff and weather pain soooo... You don't have much to do besides trying to babysitting them...

There's always a way to persuade people.

4 monster meat and running away, hoping werepigs are karma-oriented.

Also, tentacles, pigs if the "locust" is playing Webber, monster lasagna through force-feeding... So many options :D

I just wait for them to die and eat their DELICIOUS RAW HUMAN FLESH and let them rage quit while they are waiting for you to ressurrect them. They usually just leave after a short period of time.

What Mathem said, pretty much.  "You're gonna be useless?  Fine.  Have fun as a ghost."

The problem with the other solutions is you need to be Wickerbottom AND _have_ the "certain red book" (or easy access to the ingredients for it), you have to get them near werepigs but these guys tend to hang around base all day, etc.

You show up in my game in winter, I have a firepit, trees, and an axe right by the spawn so you don't immediately die. You want to share in my limited resouces?  Contribute.  Doesn't necessarily have to be food, but contribute _something_.  Don't just raid the fridge.  It isn't yours.

Of course, attitude makes a big difference here.  Asking _nicely_, being friendly/polite, etc. can get you a free meal or two, especially if you genuinely seem like a noob who really does need help.  After all, we were all there once.  But just grabbing = boot to the head.

...Notorious

You know when you're are waiting out the night, all cozy by the campfire, and then you decide to leave the game for a few seconds?

Well...
I just think it'd be so wonderful if you got acquainted with my good friend Charlie,
Here let me just introduce her to you...
Proceeds to cook ice over fire ;)

1) Plant trees near the base fire pit. Ask them to get logs for you while you get them food.

2) Pick a good base location where food can be found readily all year around.

3) Simply go nomad for a few days. Remember to tell your friends to go with you. Usually noobs that can't survive on their own will die out fairly quickly and will leave the server.
