Questions about tumbleweeds spawners and ruins guardian

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I have 2 questions:

1) I knew it was possible to detect the tumbleweeds spawners in the desert by moving a structure randomly on the desert ground and the moment you'd get it red it would mean it's not placeable there because of a tumbleweed spawner which you could then surround with walls to farm tumbleweeds. Does this not work any longer? I tried doing the same thing but for the love of me I can't seem to find them. I did a c_gonext"tumbleweedspawner" and it certainly found them, so they are there, yet I can build a structure in the spawner area. I do not want to find them with the console command, I'd rather keep going doing the old fashion of going on the shoreline if there's no legit way to find the spawners.

2) What is the easiest way to kill the guardian at the moment? I knew the strategy with the fireplaces to  get him stuck, but I heard it doesn't work anymore. I am planning to raid the ruins soon and would like to know if there's a way to easily kill him without tanking.

P.S. I am playing in the new reign beta branch. :) Any hints and tips are welcome.

1) Tumbleweed spawners don't block construction in DST.  However, since its harder to determine when they're off-screen with multiple players, they no longer try and can appear before your very eyes, revealing the spawner's location.  You can also just build a cheap grass pen at a suspected location and see if it works.

2) Um, dodge and then attack like you would for a rook, or bring an army of rock lobsters?  Can't say I have much experience with this myself.

this is possible because minotaur has a small attack range than the player

Not possible in DST anymore, where campfires are destructable.

I did this and saw this done IN DST. U can use it on about anything such as graves, but for something thats 100% chance recurring, use the tight space between one of the large towers in the corners of the arena. The disadvantages for this way is that its loot is likely to fall in the abyss, and the minotaur will trap u in that place until u kill it, leaving u exposed to shadow creatures (they pass though obstacles).

Dunno about tumble weed spawns much so sorry.

Against the ancient guardianI make a ton of fire pits in the area if I can. The only reason he is hard to me is because there isn't always enough space to fight him. So I have many lanterns or fire pits. I bring rock lobsters and pigs with me since he has 10,000 hp in dst. Also many blow darts or fire darts work well but make sure to not accidentally hit a pig or rock lobster.

The AG managed to get himself stuck in between these two gravestones. If it's true that fires got patched, you could use this strategy.

If you're wondering how I found him on day 3, I just went werebeaver and ran around the caves until I found the ruins.

Tumble weed spawners don't block placers or buildings and you can build right where they would be- they are not networked and have no collision for detection on the client end.

I haven't tested cos not a big fan of ruins and all that, but a friend told me that like 5 bee mines do short work of him. Worth checking out. Sorry for the late reply. :)

Did a testing with 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 mines.

5-7 failed to kill the guardian, 8-10 did it with no user interaction besides placing the mines.

I'd probably stick to getting 10 mines in case something goes wrong.

The bees rely on hitting the guardian as it's charging before it kills one of them to negate its damage.

Can confirm. Got lucky once and had a tumbleweed magically appear in front of my face while exploring.
