Klei please fix this issue.

Recommended Posts

Same experience, only except it happened TWICE now to the exact same people. This is their steam usernames (listed below), and judging from the comments on their profile, they've been doing this on a lot of servers. Please do something about this Klei, the system where people can evade getting kicked by simply logging out and logging back on does nothing to help when someone is aware of it. The fact that people get groups of their friends to dedicatedly do this is downright annoying, especially when you're playing in the ruins the last thing you want to worry about apart from the monkeys and the worms are the trolls.

While I've long asserted that it's not reasonable to expect that things are going to go smoothly on servers completely unattended by any sort of moderator or administrator and that people need to stop, I do have to say that I feel like Klei should at least be talking to you guys about what's going on. I don't think you're ever going to be completely happy, though. While the cats are away, the mice will always find a way to play.

Agreed. In all due honesty, it is recommended to avoid servers without an active admin. And it is not Klei's fault. The same can be said about many dedis.

Look this is all fine and dandy and as it is now there are few select servers you can play on that don't have vote to kick and are actually decent in terms of players joining and world gen rules not being completely idiotic. The problem here is before we had trolls and now we have trolls. There are just different methods they are using now to be successful at what they like to do. I feel before we had more protection than we do now because you can be anywhere in game at any time and lose your things even if people don't know where you are. I could easily hide in a cave or somewhere super obscure but now anything can be erased in a few seconds by any group of people from anywhere on the map.

The votekick system IS flawed. But honestly, I'm not touching the matter of how it should be modified. I simply stay away from unsupervised servers as personally, I find verbal assault as much of an issue as burning down bases and gang-kicks.

Agreed, its just sad that the problem isnt even remotely fixed or quelled, and now we cant play in half the good servers.

Well, it is sad. Blessedly I wasn't affected as there is a handful of servers I join when not hosting - The Nightmare's, Artemyi's and Raoglu's. But those do have one or another sort of supervision. It basically comes down to just that: the man will always beat the machine, be it a noble or petty act. The Klei servers would always be full for me, so I don't want to judge, but the word in the street would have them be unsupervised and thus highly vulnerable to bad behaviour pretty much all the time.

Personally, I would either have some staff man them or simply not host them seeing that there are plenty of servers all the time and save the upkeep costs plus whatever justified or not complaining that currently comes their way. But that's just me and I'm rather lazy.

In my opinion, there is really no real obligation Klei has to police these servers; but that being said, they know it's becoming an increasing problem that people are abusing the voting systems. I think that if they keep paying attention to problems with the vote kick system (and the server action systems for that matter), they can at LEAST make it as close to fair as possible eventually.

The biggest problems I've seen is people just leaving and rejoining while a vote is in progress to evade a kick - this should be patched to consider that a kick (like how when you leave in a dangerous situation, the game kills you by "shenanigans" - they've thought of this for other applications, this is surely something they can do) The fact that people can keep declaring votes over and over again is also a problem - limiting the amount of votes someone can do in a certain time period would be very helpful, since from my experience people will just keep making votes with their friends until they succeed in taking out a server... That's not what a democratic vote system should be like - if something is voted down it should stay down. At least after the 5th time or so. On top of that, Klei could do other simple fixes to this issue as well, such as granting the ability to vote/start votes to players who have been in the server for an amount of time (so people can't just ask their friends to go on immediately and help their votes) These are practical ideas that aren't so hard to implement.. me and many players just want this issue to be fixed, not told that we should avoid being griefed in the first place.

I wish there was a friendly fire servers so that people who want to troll each other can do what they please while private servers for those who want to have more control and isolation from unfamiliar users.

Lol they do, they're called "PVP server" though - the thing about it is that people end up enjoying trolling only when its unwelcome; if you troll people without that element, it doesn't offend anyone.
