. . .
There's already humanmeat existing in Don't Starve Together... So why not put it to good use & and also add a cool Wendigo transformation with it too! Also, Wendigo starts with the letter W, just like all of Don't Starve's characters! It really would be a shame to let such a great coincidence go to waste! Plus, I've always thought Wendigos would just feel so natural in a game called "Don't Starve" ! So, Klei, i'm begging you... This really should be added in the game !!! I can see it now... The update could be called "Starving for you" with a picture of a Wendigo chasing Wilson !!! Here's a idea for Klei! There's a 100% chance to get 1 piece of humanmeat upon kill a player with a 50% chance to get another piece... Upon killing a player or eating 1 piece of human meat your max sanity gets reduced by 10% and your hungerrate goes up by 10%... After you lost 50% of your max sanity your character starts crazy talking to themself & there will be a chance of hallucinations attacking you, even if you're not insane! Once you've killed 10 players or ate 10 pieces of humanmeat (or a combination of both to reach the threshold of 10) you become a Wendigo which looks nothing like your previous form, you look horrifically monstrous! The Wendigo Spirit never forgets how many humans you've killed/ate (unless you cleanse yourself with a Shamanic Ward)! For example, you killed 5 players then log out from the game, the game remembers you killed 5 players & it takes only 5 more to become a Wendigo. All Wendigos have the same stats! Stats: Health: 150, Hunger: 300, No Sanity, deals 75 damage per hit, Attack Period of 4 & 2x faster movement speed then Wilson. When you become a Wendigo all the stuff below happen... Wendigos are bigger then players, slightly taller then werebeavers but much thinner. You lose your ability to craft anything. You gain a very faint night vision which covers a large area. Wendigos can't see well, so they have a fixed field of view which can't be zoomed out. Your hunger rate goes down at 5x the rate than Wilson which would mean you lose 375 hunger points per day, meaning you must eat everything that moves in your sight! In Winter or when freezing Wendigos hunger rate slows down to 4x which would be 300 points of hunger loss per day, which's still a lot but a little less. Wendigos can only eat meat & boneshards, boneshards only give 5 hunger though. Wendigos can only heal health from eating humanmeat, humanmeat recovers 30 health. The only other way to heal is if you're over 150 hunger then you will heal 1 point of health every 10 seconds (which means 150 points of health recovered every 25 minutes). You can't examine anything, equip anything, you lose all your inventory & can't use items. Wendigos can chop trees, mine rocks, dig up stuff & hammer things with their strong, bony arms! Wendigos are immune to temperature damage. When a Wendigo's freezing they will be able to freeze entities with their attacks (freezing entities will take the same amount as hits as a Ice Staff). Wendigos take 2x more fire damage (4x when freezing). Wendigos give off a large passive sanity drain to any players that are in a close range of the Wendigo. Wendigos receive a 35% faster hunger drain if another Wendigo's in close range (does not stack with multiple Wendigos). Once Wendigos go below half of their stomach some of their stats change... Stats: Deals 50 damage per hit, Attack Period of 6 & 1.75x faster movement speed then Wilson. If a player gets hit by a Wendigo the player loses 10% of his/her current sanity & 10% of his/her current hunger. If a Wendigo's in a medium range of a player the player will announce something smelling funny, for example... : Do you smell that? If a Wendigo's in a close range of a player the player will announce something smelling horrible, for example... : Where's that putrid stench coming from?! At the cost of 50 hunger (30 hunger if it's Winter or Wendigo's freezing) & a press of a button (which you can configure in the controls area) you can enter a Stealth Mode which makes you only 25% visible (5% visible if it's Winter or Wendigo's freezing). Stealth Mode makes your footsteps completely silent, you cannot be inspected while in Stealth Mode, entities won't target you & if you're their combat target they will drop you when you enter Stealth Mode. It also puts you into a anim slows that your speed down by 50%, the anim looks like a crouching tiger getting ready to pounce on it's unsuspecting prey! Stealth Mode will end after 30 seconds passed, getting hit or hitting something (excluding entities that aren't alive like walls)! Stealth Mode also gives you a extra 50 point damage boost! At the cost of 50 hunger (30 hunger if it's Winter or Wendigo's freezing) & a press of a button (which you can configure in the controls area) you can enter Tracking Mode which will let you follow a scent trail to the nearest player near you ... Tracking mode changes your color cubicle making it look like infrared vision! Tracking Mode only lasts 1 minute. When in Tracking Mode the restriction on your field of view gets lifted as long as you're in Tracking Mode! Other players can protect themselves from Wendigo Tracking Mode by showering themself with a Buckets of Poop. At the cost of 50 hunger (30 hunger if it's Winter or Wendigo's freezing) & a press of a button (which you can configure in the controls area) you can use the Screech! You will Screech causing nearby players to lose their sanity by 50 points, Wendigo screeches are horrifying & can be heard from far away! if someone hears it from far away (nearby players get this too) they will receive a small passive sanity drain for 1 minute. The Screech also shakes the screen for all nearby players & the Wendigo! Wendigo screeches make all monsters/animals run away from Wendigos for 1 minute, they also drop their combat targets when the Wendigo screeches (50% chance for boss monsters to run away & drop target or 50% chance for boss monsters to remain unimpressed). If the Wendigo attacks the monster/animal that's running away from the Screech they will fight back (if they could in the first place)! So, that's the idea for how to become a Wendigo & what they can do! Now how to revert from being a Wendigo... To revert from being a Wendigo you have 3 options. Starve yourself to death to become cleansed of the Wendigo Spirit. Get killed by other players to become cleansed of the Wendigo Spirit. A new item which can be crafted in the magic tab, the Shamanic Ward! It can be used to cleanse players of Wendigo Spirits (it'll break upon cleansing a Wendigo)! Shamanic Wards can also be used to reset your Wendigo transformation threshold (it'll use up 14% of its durability). You can craft the Shamanic Ward with 1 Papyrus, 3 Glommer Goop, 5 Beard Hair & 10 Nightmare Fuel (it needs a Shadow Manipulator to prototype). If you have a Shamanic Ward in your inventory then Wendigos will deal 50% less damage to you, won't lower your current sanity & hunger by 10% when they hit you & nullifies the negative sanity aura Wendigos pass off. Each time you get hit by a Wendigo the Shamanic Ward loses 14% of its durability & little shamanic souls go off the player holding the Shamanic Ward (shamanic souls look like mini Nightmare Fuel but glow the color white). Wendigos drop 4 humanmeat, 2-3-4 boneshards. 1 Wendigo Spirit or 1 Wendigo Heart upon getting killed. Players can use the Wendigo Spirit to imbue themself with the power of a Wendigo (without the side effects, kinda)! Wendigo Spirit buff lasts 1 minute and it'll grant the player that's imbued with it... A very faint night vision which covers a medium area, 50% faster movement speed, 50% more damage dealt, 50% faster hunger drain, your current body temperature will drop by 25 degrees & your body will glow faintly white, leaving a faint afterglow wherever you move (afterglow's just a cool texture effect). Players can eat the Wendigo Heart to transform into a Wendigo instantly. When you die other players still have to revive you, but who will want to revive you after you caused such trouble!!! I think it would be so really cool if this was in Don't Starve Together! It would really add a new , awesome way to play! I hope this was the right place to put suggestions for Don't Starve Together , i'd love to hear you guys opinion if this would be cool or not! If there's anything else I thought of i'll add it here! Thanks for reading the long suggestion !!! TheKingofSquirrels
Cannibalism will never happen, sorry bud. In the very beginning they toyed with the idea, even had the human meat designed and everything. In the end they changed their minds. CaptainChaotica
..and I'm glad. I'm sorry, but that is waaaayy too dark for this game. I mean, it's dark? But it's Tim-Burton-gothy dark, not like, REAL dark. Not like _gore_ dark. I don't think that would fit in. (...despite the fact that the instant I told my mother (who is a leetle bit of a gamer herself, and raised me to be the nerd I am) about the fact that a "Don't Starve _Together_" existed...she IMMEDIATELY referenced the Donner Party. : P "Well, I can think of ONE way that would solve the problem...") The insta-skeleton thing fits the tone of the game much better, I think. Although, points for "Wendigo" being a mythological creature with a W name. Heh. Now, with a MOD, be as dark, out-of-character, whatever as you want. Go to town. In the actual game, however? No. ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/67994-add-cannibalism-back-into-the-game-with-additional-wendigo-transformation/#findComment-781923 Share on other sites

True because cannibalism is really a Tabou + the fact that if they added cannibalism, i think a big part of players will leave the game or add mode for don't have that.. And Wendigo.. Seriously it's just like Twilight Vampires Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/67994-add-cannibalism-back-into-the-game-with-additional-wendigo-transformation/#findComment-781925 Share on other sites

Arlesienne
It won't happen as vanilla, 99,99999999%, because human meat is in the code, but when it was enabled, people started freaking out. The meticulousness of the concept, its links to the Native American mythology of the Great Lakes region, how you didn't really make it overpowered, but a true curse... Now, THIS is utterly admirable. By all means, go make a mod like this. I think it WOULD amuse THEM. On a general note, has anyone noticed how easily objections to "darkness" in DST are raised despite REAL darkness being in the game from the start with nobody batting an eye? You have a CHILD with something weird going on in regards to arachnids, who keeps referencing his family and evidently missing them like heck. You have another CHILD tagging along with her DEAD SISTER and having suicidal longings. You have a young woman suffering from a serious mental disorder and clearly with bad experiences from an orphanage. You have a man with either some psychological issues (thinking he turns into a beaver and talking with an axe) or a real curse. Lastly, you have Charlie, the victim of Maxwell's shenanigans, and Maxwell himself, deluded by the call of fame and power, which always comes at a price. Now consider - are the few examples I recalled not dark? Or is it just me and my writer senses considering the issues of the characters as real darkness? Like, the characters have had daaaark things happen to them, but they're not necessarily the sort of person that goes around doing horrible things and hurting people, at least on purpose (Maxwell being the possible exception, but even he's still arguably a victim of THEM). I think the difference isn't that cannabilism would be dark, but the sort of dark it would be, and the bad taste it would leave in most people's mouths. Arlesienne
I agree with your assessment of the setting. One thing I remember from the game code is that anything made from humanoids was VERY punishing. Giant sanity drops, health too, I think, with a tiny hunger gain. So some people in the original threads about the assets supposedly promoting cannibalism are completely wrong. Generally, I am in favour of the sort of meticulousness of the idea and the mythological elements. I would like something along the lines. Maybe the genocide of anthropomorphic creatures like pigmen and massive grave-digging would be enough? Schism_989
I know Don't Starve is known to have some dark elements (lets just look at Wendy, she's morbid as all hell, and in the main game Spoiler Maxwell turns into a ******* skeleton and cries in pain or horror when released) BUT Cannibalism is risky, and a lot more disturbing, almost too much for Don't Starve. If you really want cannibalism, find a server with the Cannibalism mod in DST.
