Mudley
To follow up with the "mother nature being mad at you" theme, it would be really nice to twiggy trees have their own version as well. As the original Treeguard works alone and moves slowly, and the Poison Birchnut is stationary and spawn minions, what a third tree monster could bring to the table? Mikeadatrix
OH GOD NOT THE EVIL TWIGGY TREES. I BLAME CHARLIE FOR THE REASON I DIED AT DAY 3 ON A NEW SERVER I JOINED. In all seriousness I would like a treeguard type boss for them. Moves super fast, but an off draft of wind knocks it over, killing it instantly (Or maybe just a quick treeguard with less damage and less health who gives living twigs which can be refined into living logs..?) A petrified treeguard would be pretty interesting too, actually.... And, well, maybe REALLY fat gobblers that are thick and juicy Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66979-an-idea-to-make-twiggy-trees-more-interesting-twiggy-guards/#findComment-765874 Share on other sites
ADinosaur
It'd hop around shooting twigs at you. If they miss they'll be dropped as regular sticks and if they hit it'd deal moderate damage (About 25-50) while leaving a twig in the player's skull for thirty seconds (Just for looks.) It hops three times towards the player and then forms what appears to be a pinecone of twigs and starts to fire bursts of twigs at you (Three twigs to four to five to finally six.) After attacking four times it'll hop again, repeating the rotation. GuyNamedChris
Here is how I think the twiggy treeguards should work: 'Snare' attack Like the Ewecus, but with twigs. Lowered HP Being made of more twigs and less log has gotta have lowered defense. Speedy Same excuse as lower HP, being made of light twigs has its perks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, here are my stats for a petrified treeguard 'Throw' attack Tosses a rock at the player 'Palm treeguard' style. Higher HP He's literally made of rocks, what do you expect? Slower Again, made of rocks. But the rock throw can make up for that. Maslak
What about a twiggy treeguard that drops twigs periodically? You can pacify some of those guys and make a twig factory! Well, it still will be slower than normal saplings farm, so why not? AnonymousKoala
I don't think it'll make it more interesting. Its basically taking the "hey lets add a property other things have" to something that's already entirely other things' properties. It has nothing unique(is a tree, gives log and twigs, can be planted. all these are existing properties), and adding another existing property ain't gonna help it be more interesting. Juicy Berries are just a bonus, Grass Gekkos are quite unique, Petrified Trees are not to be relied on but still a unique concept(something suddenly turns to stone. nothing else does that. stones never respawn either). Twiggy Trees are not a bonus, and have no unique property. The Letter W
as much as i love the concept of treeguards i'm gonna have to say no on this one. i don't think every kind of tree needs its own variant of treeguard. instead, why not a different approach similar to the jungle trees in shipwrecked? obviously we can't have snakes drop out of them, but maybe another mob could that you normally wouldn't find outside of specific areas. dangler spiders or even a new mob entirely. something different to make them unique and not just a rehash of existing features. Maslak
Not treeguards, but... Treecowards! When you chop down a twiggy tree, there is a chance that 1-4 twiggy trees close to the chopped one will turn into treeguard-like creatures and run away, dropping some twigs! Killing them will be difficult (because they run away) and they will drop one living log.
