Deerclops just disappeared

Does Deerclops de-spawn at the start of spring in DST? I kited him into 2 big treeguards and went back to my base, when I returned he had killed one treeguard and was fighting the 2nd - I left again to my base and them winter ended and spring started. Next day I went back to where Deerclops was last seen and all I found was the treeguard that was fighting him roaming around, no sign of Deerclops and no sign of the meat/eyeball that he dropped. so I don't think the treeguard killed him, deerclops just disappeared :/

Also an unrelated question: does WX-78 upgrade the same way in DST as he does in the single player game? Or does the process of eating gears do something different?

Yeap, WX-78 upgrades itself just the same.

I'm not sure about the Deerclops thing, But I thing he de-spawned.

I'm not sure, but I think seasonal giants de-spawn when out of their season (unless you alter their settings in the world gen to "More" or "Lots").

This is weird: I ate a gear and my max health went up from 150 to 167 but then approximately 15 days passed and my max HP is now back at 150. I died once and was revived with a tell-tale heart, but I used a booster shot to remove the health limit from the tell-tale heart. Does the gear bonus get removed when you die as WX-78?

 

Also, do you need to be at full health when eating gears to get the bonus health or will your max HP still go up even if your health is low?

Your upgrades reset on death, but you will drop gears depending on your current upgraded-ness (not 1:1 so don't die!), and you should be able to upgrade your max HP when your health is low.

Deerclops lasts in to spring (At least when I played DST offline), I remember since I had him duel a Goose Moose to kill him.

Deerclops and Moosegoose despawn after their season ends, Bearger and Dragonfly remain year around~

If deerclops gets away from players (usually after wrecking someone's stuff) he will despawn, and appear (3 days?) later that same winter. If you kill him, he stays dead for ~18 days, which means that he won't show up until next winter, unless you have long seasons.

About WX-78, you drop 1/3 - 1/2 of the gears you used on death and lose all upgrades when you revive. So he's best for experienced players, since dying is a huge problem for him.

This certain event only happened to me, and my brother's girlfriend once but we were in winter and we just killed the Deerclops but not long after we heard another Deerclops coming we don't know how that happened...we also spawned in stuff cause we were like FOOK DAT WE'RE ON A DEFAULT WORLD NOT LOTS.

Edit: Does the Deerclops not have a special animation like the Moose/Goose does and you have to let him get off screen in order for him to despawn?
