Need explanation on Teleportato

So as far as I understand if I gather all of the "Things" and use the teleportato in sandbox mode it will just generate a new world and everything that I did so far will disappear? So it would be the same as dying and starting a new game, what is the point of doing this?

It generates a new world but you keep your inventory, backpack contents, and learned recipes to the next world.

And every structure you crafted but you didn't put it on the ground.

And you get all the XP calculated without actually dying and losing your items.

Ok thanks, and one more question - if I use Maxwell's door and then die in adventure mode do I come back to sandbox mode the same way it was when I left?

I had always thought that the teleportato was a low-effort objective to keep new players striving towards something, then it says they win. To anyone but a very new player it is nothing but a chore, due to the learning curve, but for an experienced player I don't see the point. I have used the teleportato a grand total of 1 time.

World hopping is used by many experienced players to gain more non renewable resources such as thulecite, green gems, guardian horns, honeycomb etc

The only things you can't bring with you are Chester and Glommer. Their items (Eyebone and flower) will be ash after using it.

Aren't you bored by the time you run out of thulecite? Most resources that are nonrenewable either basically unlimited/too much hassle to deal with. Is that just me?

I personally don't use the teleportato as I usually like to stick with one world. and the whole "call you inexperienced" thing was referencing how you said the teleportato was a new players way of "beating the game." i did not call you inexperienced, I merely said that some experienced players do use it.

I just make walls the grab tumbleweeds so I just have to walk over there and get stuff. I have way too much gold because of it.

Well you did call me inexperienced(whether you tried to or not; I don't think you did), but I didn't care. I still don't really care. I took no offense.

You can also switch characters when going through the Teleportato.  I plan to use this in my current world to switch over from Wilson, my current character, and try someone else while bringing a stack of beard hair to make effigy creation easier.

Ok so the teleportato takes care of the "limited items per world" issue, you can carry over rare items into the next world and they will keep stacking up as long as you keep doing it. Pretty neat.
