"Hold that... thought, savior sea creature." Viridis said to Gyx. She looked at Meritursas again. "Serpent. You have... taken control over your... dominant friend. Impressive. She looked as if... she was going to actually hurt Gilda.... and Jaw there. If it had not been for you, she might have... actually done something." She says, knowing the fact that he had summoned her in the first place. "I don't think we have... been properly intr--" she stops, grabs Gyx's hand with her tail, walks over to Meritursas and sits down on the wooden floor. "Alright. Now... let us try this again. My name... is Viridis, and what is yours?" Looking at both Gyx and Meritursas.

Well... Meritursas seemed to be genuinely sorry. And no one got hurt. So there was no reason for Mark to let him continue beating himself up for that.

"It's alright, eh? In the end, no one got hurt. That's what matters."

He gave Meritursas a thumbs up and started swinging his umbrella up and down. Why? No reason, he just liked doing that.

Meritursas snorts.  "Actually, it's the other way around."

"I would not take you...anywhere your lives would be in danger...without warning."  He continues.  "She doesn't...kill...anything intelligent.  Besides the larger Tursai who take interest in her."

"However, I am glad...we avoided anything...unpleasant."

Wow, Kate had never noticed how interesting her hands were before. That's why she was staring at and fidgeting with them. Not because she felt guilty for nearly burning Meri alive and hurting Wiffleball and Noctimus in the process. Nope.

She noticed the pup staring at her like he was expecting something. She stared back, having no clue what it was he was expecting.

"I fuel it with the souls of a thousand orphans whose ethereal wails from beyond the ceaseless void echo with such power they generate light.  Whose ship was destroyed millennia ago by the immortal Ikutursas, God of a Thousand Horns, the Slayer of Flame and Lord of the Darkness below the waves.  Who at the end of days shall return to the one who killed them and rend these seas apart...and put out my lure forever."

"it releases pheromones that attract bioluminescent creatures."  Meritursas replies, seeming relieved over not having to talk about Niella anymore.

"Ah, I see! A lure... to attract curious creatures in the depths of the sea." Now turning to Gyx, Viridis said "Ah... wow...! That is... quite a long name, uhh... well, Gy... Gyx, thank you... for aiding me. --So... Merit...suras? Where is it we... are headed?" She asks, trying to get away from her akward pronouncation of Gyx's name.

"I...am not sure."  Meritursas replies.  "We must simply keep searching until we find one one of these...'shards'."

He pauses.

"Meeting with Niella...made me think."  He says.  "I have been dragging you around the ocean for days now...telling you where to go, what to do...I believe you should be allowed to take the, er, reins."

"Where shall we go?"

(I've had the plot for long enough now.  You guys can have your own arcs happen for a while.  Just avoid bringing the Things into play, because that's my storyline.)

(That's my cue.)

Famen finally got around to examining the bottle the dragon grabbed for him earlier. It had a strip of paper in it. Famen took the paper and looked at it. It was a shoddy map leading from the "island" they were last on with the first "thing" to another island close by with an 'X' marked on it. "Woo! Treasure Map!" Famen said, running to the end of the boat to Meritursas, nearly hanging off the edge of the ship. "Meri, I'm assuming you know the area right? Can you take us here?" Famen said, holding out the treasure map to Meritursas.

Gilda fell inelegantly as the dragon crashed into them. She growled and stood as the boat levelled. "You okay Jaw?"

---------------------

"Farmen! You should sing and dance with us!"

Wheke wobbled as the boat levelled but managed not to fall.

"Heave away, bullies, ye parish-rigged bums,
Take yer hands from yer pockets and don't suck yer thumbs."
