halfrose Posted January 3, 2016 Share Posted January 3, 2016 This idea came across my mind while playing Shipwrecked yesterday and finding tallbirdsAs I am already aware, and I also guessed, hatching tallbirds are twice as useless as it already was on the RoG or vanilla game. It came into my mind about, stead of relying on those one eyed birds, why not reply on a sea creature? Here is a really fast sketch I did of the fish that came in mind:Of course it doesn't need to look like that, but it is just to illustrate what I thought. So, what to call them? well I just thought of them being called Longfish...you know, Tallbird, Longfish, get it?ok, ok I stop now. But yeah, above you can see it has stages. So I thought that maybe you can find longfish on the open areas of the ocean, the deep ocean areas or maybe around some really small reef. The mamma Longfish has a nest, probably made of seaweed, with the big Roe/egg which she protects, the person could either kill her or steal the roe/egg and run. It would take a couple of days to hatch, which the person probably only requires to, keep the egg wet, and then the Littlest Shortfish would be born. Shortfish would follow the player around and would require to be fed, he would probably not attack any mob that is not dogfish or so. After a couple of days it would grow into a Not So Shortfish, Mediumfish? kind of? but yeah, the Mediumfish would still follow the player, and would actually attack mobs, like seahounds and others, it would be advisable to give it a lot of food, because they would probably eat more. Then after a couple of days the Mediumfish would turn into a Longfish, at this point they would stop following the player and would not need to be fed, however, they won't attack the one that raised them, the player could use that to set groups of Longfish near the areas they visit the most or such, because it would be a great help against seahounds, so that you don't need to freak out because you have no idea where the ballphins are and you are too far from land. Life and damage? I am not really the best person for setting those things without making it too strong or too weak so, I think I would let that for other people to think about. Anyway that is the idea I had about a mob, I don't know how valid it would be, or if it is as useful as it is in my mind, but hey, I tried. I really also hope that Capy sees and if they don't use the entire idea, at least use a piece of it XD You are going to make a mod? like, you know how to do mob brain?(the coding part)because that is one of the reason I haven't tried to do a mob mod yet, because I am still a noob at coding a brain.lua XDi made your shortfish into a spriter project, i'ts not the best, but what you think? Are each piece separated? it is good to make pieces separated so they can be animated in spriter. Like a hybrid of a shrimp and crab. Maybe something like this, except without the long limbs on the head.
