Will singleplayer be updated?

Recommended Posts

I understand that most of the efforts currently go to DST (and also considerable amount goes into console development).

However, do we have any info if the PC singleplayer will get more content update sometimes in the future? Or should we consider Dont Starve + ROG as a final product?

(do not misunderstand, the PC signle player is a final product - content is great, the game is rock solid - as it stands now, just wonder if Klei finished with it or they have plans to add more...)

I believe Klei has said they are/will be making a new DLC. I think. Maybe.

What I really hope is that the new content for Don't Starve Together will be added to single player, too.

Well.. so far we are waiting the RoG content to be added to DST :) I dont even see anything in DST what is missing from the single player experience...

New enemies and the meteors. And the moonrocks from the meteors.

Those are built specfically for DST though. The new mob, Ewecus, is designed to be fought with multiple people. Moonrocks are meant to supply rocks with multiple people using the rock supply.

So far there's nothing from DST that makes sense to be ported to single player.

But! Moonrock walls are currently the same as Thulecite walls. Twice the strength of stone walls. They could serve as either a high-tier building material in Don't Starve solo just the same as in Together.

and the Ewecus is strong, sure. And it's also an enemy I find fascinating, and the phlegm is drops may be used for stronk items in the future. And it's just cool in general!

And the meteor showers are something that makes the world feel more -alive-! It's weather other than just rain or snow, that you can see!

While yes, most of the new stuff was designed with multiplayer in mind, I don't see why those who choose not to play it should be penalized and forced to miss out on new and interesting things without modding them in!

Yea, that's gotta be it.

But either way, once they get everything from DS into DST, there's no point in continuing DS. They should abandon it.

There is: bad internet connections

ISP and DSL are never sleeping. But neither you nor me actually know who and why that is. No, just me?

EDIT: Maybe my creator?

If you're playing from your own machine, there is no bad internet connection. plus there's lan mode.

I'm still holding out hope for more.  Logically it seems to me they wouldn't want to spend so much time and money rewriting the codebase and then giving the resulting product away for free to a large part (majority?) of their fanbase, and then never do anything further with that revamped codebase.  I think there's a lot of people still (like myself) who have no interest in mp, but would be totally onboard for more sp.  That's my own speculation though.

I really hope they continue with single player. I like DST, but it's hard to play with others due to conflicting schedules and timezones, etc. Single player is still awesome, and it'd be sad to see it... well... die. It's a sad thought, really.

I still cling on to the shred of hope left for some updates to RoG and maybe vanilla. :)

In case Klei devs are reading this, putting in another vote:

+1 to hoping there's more DS content in the future. It doesn't have to be free! Charge us for it if you like!

Agreed. I normally wouldn't when people talk about big companies like EA and stuff, though. However, with Klei it's so different. Sure, they might charge a small penny for DLC, but heck! It's pennies - coming from a Scot! Hehe. Stereotypes. The value for money that you get from Klei is absolutely astounding. :)

I've played Don't Starve more than I have any Nintendo games or any of that nonsense. Klei are so special in that when they deliver, they deliver. Best company I've seen in my (relatively) short life in respect to keeping in touch with the community, plus... well.. Don't Starve. It's amazing. Gosh, that sounded really mooshy. Ugh.

TL;DR, I agree with applebottom.
