Can I take a moment to say what an amazing company Klei is?

Recommended Posts

As of recently I've been checking out a lot of new indie games from others and I have to say...Klei has set a gigantic standard and should be looked to for inspiration.

They created solid games with complete communication with the players. They are always on time, never cut corners, they work hard and their finished games just reek of effort. With this game in particular. They added everything they promised, (besides those angry snowmen) they 100% made their single player game incredibly well within a decent amount of time. Then they added on to it beautifully with things the community wanted.

I never really truly appreciated just how awesome Klei was until I noticed the annoyances of other developers.

I've really appreciated the work you've put into your games Klei entertainment and I'm sure all the players do as well.

And uhhh, Happy Holidays?

Big game dev organizations: "We made a successful game, let's produce a sequel to keep making money!"

Small indie game devs: "We made a successful game, and we'll bring the elements that made it a success to our next game!"

Klei: "We made a successful game, so we'll release a DLC, a free multiplayer mode and a free DLC to celebrate!"

They're comparatively magesterial. At least they don't spend years trying to find a working concept or optimise the "gameplay graphics"

Klei does a lot of the things other companies don't, such as:

  • maintaining deadlines
  • making what is promised
  • listening to the community
  • releasing games not full of bugs but still on time
  • giving the community chances to discover more lore
  • games that don't have 30 DLCs, cost $60, or have approximately 10 quality-less sequels

To you, Klei:

That's a bit harsh, considering "on time" is often missinterpreted. Most companies either cancel their games before making money off them, or simply say "not sure when, but the next beta update will be by X": the part which people often missunderstand, then are "disappointed", leading to fanboys spreading hate. I avoid the Starbound community as much as possible

I meant they don't do something like Assassin's Creed Unity.

They even put a lot of time into how they released information about new updates. They'd hide clues in videos causing the community to band together and dissect everything. I think once they even sent out letters with morse code messages hidden within a recording to a select few people, and they could only find out the full message by combining their pieces. It serves no purpose other than being plain good fun.
