Hexa
Do I understand correctly and "Together" DLC just went from "Absolutely free this summer" to "5 Euros, 4 months late". I am sorry to sound pissed but I am. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/46049-so-the-together-dlc-costs-afterall/ Share on other sites
imsomony
Current owners of Don't Starve will receive DST for free when it is fully released. That has not changed. DST is in closed beta right now. It goes into open beta/Steam early access on the 15th. If you want to get DST early, before the full release, you can buy a key: $5 for owners of DS$20 for non-owners of DS It's called the "Frontier Pack". You'll receive 2 keys for beta DST. Non-owners of DS will also receive one copy of DS. Lonestarr01
They never said it would be out for everyone in Summer -.- I'm so sick of hearing people say that. They said they wanted closed beta out by the end of summer, and they did. Nothing else How would they finish a whole game in 2 months? They're not EA (lol) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/46049-so-the-together-dlc-costs-afterall/#findComment-583397 Share on other sites

Pyromailmann
You've got it wrong, the BETA for DST costs money, not the full product. Also, they gave a date for the Alpha, not beta. The Alpha did technically come in the Summer but it wasn't open. But they also weren't sure when it'd be available to open play. Zomsabra
Oh, that's good to hear. I am one of those persons who could not care less about Beta Accesses.Well if you could care less about Beta then why are you bothering with DST?Klei never promised anything of "absolutely free this summer" (to be honest they never even mentioned it would directly come at Summer....) Klei released the ALPHA in summer (not released to the public at all) so they could polish it a bit to make it playable for closed Beta testing. And if you are angry about the prices, then you could wait until its actually released, but for now its still being beta tested by people who have keys. It would be complete chaos if EVERYONE had access to the Beta. Rosten
I'd just like to take a moment to point out the fact that, if Klei wanted to charge for DST (which they aren't) they'd be perfectly justified in doing so (especially for such a low price) because of the ridiculous amount of effort that probably went into this. Hellkitty
Hey i have a question is it two keys including mine? Or is it my key + one?Sorry for my bad english. You mean for the Frontier pack? The Frontier pack includes "Two copies of Don’t Starve Together (with Beta access)" If you signed up for beta, you will get sent to your email 2 DST beta keys, as well. So, it is 2 keys total. Enough keys for you and a friend (2 people total) Hope that makes sense. Flare2V
The dst by summer was definitely a half-truth. It's still going to be free though, don't worry bud. Coraxes
Obviously everyone has either forgotten what it was like when DS originally came out, or weren't around for it. For what seems like forever, the vanilla game was in beta status. You could buy in for $6.99, which got you into the Beta and gave you the game. In fact when the game opened to the public, they even said that development was incomplete. This was the start of many awesome updates to comes, culminating with the last one to hit "Where there's a Wilson". They followed through with their promise to continue development for them game for a long time after. The point is this team is one of the most generous, open to communications, and generally most awesome development teams you'll come across. Let them do their awesome thing and the game will get here when it gets here, along with most likely many free updates to come with it down the road. If you're desperate to play DST now, pay the measly $5 for access. Its such a small amount for such an great company and I'm a big big supporter of buying from companies one would like to see more from. You could do a lot worse than the offers Klei has made for us. Flare2V
misinterpretation doesn't equal "half-truth"Don't get me wrong, I love Klei! All of their games are fantastic to both play and watch, they interact well with their community and are always polite and professional, yet still find a way to be fun with everything they do.There were a few times in the devcasts it was stated to be an open alpha/beta before the end of summer (I'll pop em in this thread when I find 'em later). Once again, no disrespect to Klei, it's entirely possible that the individual who said it was mistaken and they planned to do it the way they have from the beginning, but that will most likely forever remain a mystery.
