Booster Shot in yet?

Yes it's in the game! It's under Survival and you need an Alchemy Engine to prototype it.

@InfectedAsylum

It removes 20 hp from your current maximum health penalty. So you need two to negate the effect of a Telltale Heart revival.

Ah, I figured it didn't work yet, thanks! I tried to use it to heal haha.

Glad to see new stuff! But didn't they say there would be no new stuff in Together? Unless they add it to the main game which would negate the effects of the meat effigy.

They said there would be nothing new in Together except things that were specific to the multiplayer environment.

Meat effigies don't take maximum health in DST right now. I would argue that booster shots don't apply to single-player because the meat effigy penalty is temporary; you can get that health back by using the effigy. In DST the penalty from telltale hearts wasn't recoverable until they added booster shots.

Yes, they did say there would be no MP-exclusive content, but I believe they meant it in terms of content that could be used in SP as well.

The Telltale Heart doesn't exist in SP, and has no need to exist in SP. It would be over-powered, and compromise the depth of difficulty the SP game intended to create. In MP it exists, as multiple Wilsons could offer the ability to craft multiple Meat Effigies. Multiple Meat Effigies compromises the depth of difficulty in MP quite quickly, as there's no inherent harm in dying. Telltale Hearts offers players the ability to continue in their world without constant restarts of the server, but it's at a price.

In SP, dying and reviving negates the max health effect of the Meat Effigy. In MP, dying and reviving does *not* negate the max health effect of either the Meat Effigy OR the Telltale Heart. The Booster Shot does this, and acts to inspire players to work harder to do so (based on the ingredients).

Hey there.

The multiplayer announcement is here:

http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/35989-dont-starve-together-multiplayer-alpha-officially-coming-summer-2014/

Specifically

So, what is Don't Starve Together?

Don't Starve Together is a standalone multiplayer expansion of Don't Starve allowing friends or complete strangers to survive together, in either public or private games. As far as we know, it will have most of (if not all) the normal features in Don't Starve, balanced for multiplayer, and potentially even add new features.

[As with Don't Starve and Reign of Giants, we'll be looking for your input from now until release.

And

But, I really don't want to play multiplayer.

Single player Don't Starve will not be affected by the addition of multiplayer except for content or features not specifically related to multiplayer gameplay. Balance changes and content aimed at creating an interesting multiplayer experience will not be added to the single player game.

The point was that multiplayer and single player would effectively remain separated and that single player die-hards would not need to worry about multiplayer drastically affecting their single player game.

New content specifically created for multiplayer is happening.
