Now you can be a housewife!

Recommended Posts

The first thing I thought of when multiplayer was announced was, cool, now players can divide up the work and focus more on specific things.  This makes it a lot more practical to stay home and work the crockpots and maybe even lay out some comfy carpets to build a nice nest.  Actually, what's the point of carpet in this game?  Wiki doesn't say it does anything positive at all.  I'd think it would at least help keep you warm in the winter...

Read the first sentence of the OP and it'll all be clear...because he says exactly what he means ;)

real talk, the title is unrelated to the paragraph

like, it starts in one direction then heads in another and stops dead

you gotta understand man, this is so off the wall

It is pretty simple, the OP is saying when he first heard of DST he thought about the natural division of labor between players. It is similar to early hunter gather tribes where the men would go out and get supplies while the women would stay around camp gathering and doing the day to day “house work”. Mostly likely you already do both of these things in single player and it would only make sense to divide up the labor between those on the map making it a MP based thread.

it does nothing but look dapper.

Strange thing: In this game, everything dapper restores sanity, so why not carpets? Actually, I prefer keep my beefalo wool to refuel my firepit. It's, to be honest, its only usefull function once you have winter clothes.

To answer to the topic, yup, I like this housewife idea. Alone, you don't have enough time to do everything you'd like to...

I have people thoroughly analysing this topic, I'm not even ashamed of this

MP and MMO games have the understanding we all have "roles." Obviously, we're not worrying about "tank, DPS, control" here, but we are worrying about "combat, gathering, crafting, cooking," etc. How the labors are divided is a viable question (as long as it's not assumed on racist/sexist means of course.)
