Do you figure either one of us could get in to the Closed beta?

No idea.

That would require me to get into the heads of the Klei staff in charge of this. 

 

And even my insanity has limits :p

I've been out of the loop, but after reading this I had to actually use this account.

HAH HAH HAH

That's me laughing at all the anti-social jerks that reject the idea of other people enjoying this game in full with others. Some of us like social gaming, and this game is perfect for both single player AND multiplayer. The fact that this in no way harms any of you attention seeking twerps makes it all the more funnier that you actually oppose this. We've received FREE content since purchasing this game, and I've more than received my money's worth with Don't starve. I mean seriously, compare this game to any other 15 dollar game on Steam, this game SHINES above the rest and now they're going to get outside their comfort zone and try appease even MORE players! IT'S GREAT! Keep crying, your tears are delicious.

In the meantime, I'm gonna make sure all my buddies have this game so we can play together. Buddies = friends, if some of you guys didn't know what that is.

Klei, you guys are great. Thank you for going and diving into unknown (For you) territory and doing your best for your playerbase. I hope this goes smoothly and that you don't receive constant complaints from all the socially inept players that so desperately wish to see others not get what they want. How self entitled can you be?

Are there going to be dedicated servers or is it going to be like multiplayer on terraria and games like that

I think there will be 3 kinds of servers, those hosted by klei, those hosted by groups and the kind that are temporary that you can make with your own computer

You will be able to edit your posts once you post more than 5 in a non-off-topic area. This is for anti-spam reasons as not to sneak them in legitimate posts to spam edits. 

 

 

 

The devs are discussing this. Since it's a closed and not open Beta, it won't simply be downloaded off of Steam from your normal game for everybody.

 

This is the part I am only speculating on based on my many testings from multiple companies from Pre-Alpha to stress testing before release games:

 

People interested will sign up on a link or email provided by Klei. Selected people will be chosen (some specifically requested, some randomly so,) and they will be given a key to enter (likely in Steam) for a new Beta build. As more info is gotten on player feedback, changes to the build will be done, and more people will be invited. Eventually, most anybody who signs up to be included will get to try it and the final stage is as many people as the servers can handle to make sure the high loads don't crash what was theoretically proposed to work running the MP game (or "Stress testing.")

 

Then the add-on is released and people can then connect in the approved tested methods offered through the beta, now general release. 

 

Hi, I just did this account to ask you a question, where do we know updates about this closed beta, I really would like to try my chance but as a french we got no information about it. I tried don t starve forum and here I am.

Welcome to Klei's forums! While I might have brought you here, I hope you stay for the great community!

To answer your question:

 

What we know as players (including Moderators) is they will be releasing more information by the end of the month.

 

As noted in many of the Pinned threads when Klei employees have responded in FAQ's and later replies, they plan to release something (likely the closed beta) before fall Starts, or September 23rd (Northern hemisphere calendar dates used, as klei is based in Vancouver, Canada, North America.) 

 

Keep checking pinned threads like these for more information, as I'm sure they will tell us all when we can sign up! 

 

(Of course, if you need something new and different and want to test it right now, there's always their other game of course :-) )
