Rock Lobster usefull trick

Recommended Posts

Hi

I just found that it is very usefull to lure several rock lobsters to the surface world and make them follow near your camp. They will wander away slowly but they are a great defence against any threat - just lure it to them because RL usually will go in small herds and they will quickly dispatch monsters. Also, rock lobsters will multiply.

Another trick to keep those usefull buggers is to plant a lureplants where you want to keep a herd of RLs. RLs attack really slow so they will attack eyeplants and remain in place or nearby. Lureplant will produse new eyeplants so it will go on and on.

I am aware that there are more simple methods to go by, but rock lobsters on the surface are a great asset when you are on a day 100+, also they are more reliable than pigs imo and with their hardening skill they can even tank deerclops and hack it to pieces!

Am I alone saying that rock lobsters are OP? They are almost unkillable with a whopping 98 damage per hit. The only time I have ever seen one die is when I brought them to the fuzzy rhino of death by accident. There were 2 or 3 but Mr. fuzzy (as he is now called) killed them all and then me while he had 50 health left. My only bad experience with them, and they seem to follow for a really long time for just a little gold, I feel like I would be breaking the game to use them on the surface.

Say Emerphish, have you ever been in a mosh pit? Bunch of sweaty people mashing you into one place while giving you contact highs. Maybe someone grinding some organ or another up against you. Bringing Rock Lobsters to the surface is basically like that, except instead of a nymphomaniac on ecstasy you're dealing with B-52 songs made of stone. Bringing Rock Lobsters to the surface will break the game for sure, just not in the way you're thinking.

Hmmmm, I didn't know that they bred. Do they do that on their own? I accidentally got 2 on the surface and clicked to attack one, now one is attacking the other and the one being attacked is healing itself. Idk if they will stop or breed.

Once they get out of sight they'll reproduce like rabbits.

DO not bring them to the surface! I accidentally had one that followed me to the surface (I didn't gave him anything) and was loyal to me until I took him down to the caves again. After that it took me quite a while to get all rocklobsters from the world, cuz that one managed to create a least 6 of them.

Just like pigs befriend some aggro the others they will fight to death and u can get the loot... I have Lobster fest every ten days or so and get rocks... renewable rocks for six to ten flint perfect. .. Also they are near my base now instead of a days walk... 10 flint for 40 rocks... priceless (oh and bout 10 flint extra after subtracting costs)

I brought RLs to the surface and now they multiplied so fast... I brought 3 of them and after about 10 ingame days there is about 20 of them. They wander in 4 groups and kill for me enything - frogs, dogs, eyeplants... I an going to see if there is an upper limit to RL quantity on surfece ;)

Rock lobsters are awesome in ruins but on surface... well, they are great in theory, but way too slow in practice, Pigs do way better job defending YOU, Rock Lobsters do better job defending THEMSELVES.

And Pigs won't eat your gems and thulecite.

It is ridiculous... I post a screenshot of JUST ONE herd of them. Other one as big as this is in pig village. They multiply like crazy ;)

The herd on screenshot covers about 4 game screens of space and of shown density. And they are wandering off in this big... avalanche to the east. They managed to cross the forest and gone to steepies... Poor beefalos better watch out! I am stacking loads of gun powder to blow them up. Its my last resort or maybe I wait till winter and maybe big scary Deerclops Jesus will save me from lobsters ;)

You can't say you weren't warned. At this point just build the teleportato and GTFO!

I.m too lazy to create a thread so I'll ask: Has anyone else had problems with exploding lobsters?

I went caving and found piles of rocks and rot as if lobsters had died, and only one remained...I tried spawning more, and over half died almost instantly...I tames a few and went to the surface, and they followed me and then promptly exploded when I reached the surface...

Right now I hate them. Any solutions?

I discovered an easy way to get rid of large herds of rock lobsters the other day:

Step 1: Feed 3-4 Rock Lobsters and have them follow you

Step 2: Find a large herd of Rock Lobsters to exterminate

Step 3: Attack a nearby stray Rock Lobster until he goes into shell

Step 4: Feed that Rock Lobster until he comes out of hiding

Step 5: A big battle will break out, all you need to do is find any rock lobster that is hiding and feed him until he comes out

Step 6: Keep doing this and they will all kill each other, they won't attack you, so you can run in and grab drops and feed ones in the middle

You can also kill them easily one-by-one by simply attacking one until he hides, feed him, and then attack him until he is dead.  Once they hide and you feed them, they won't fight back, they will just stand there.

I did this on the console version and it's a great source for meat, rocks and flints (to continually feed during battles).

Exploding? No but sounds cool... what did you feed them to make them follow you? Was it nitrate cuz that would be a pretty cool use of said resource and quickly allow population control. .. or maybe I just wanna laugh maniacally at their demise :D
