(Apologies for passing by the 24 hour time limit, I needed to get my bearings...)

Simon blinked a small blur away from his eyes, having just woken up. He'd thought the shadowy arrow was part of that blur, but he was wrong. He hadn't known that the doctor could do that. Trying to keep the surprise from being visible on his face, he nodded slowly. "What about Neos? We can't just leave him here..."

Small fragmented memories flooded into his head from his temporary pyromania, the most prominent leftover thought was the will to burn. He was still confused by the snow around him. He'd never been able to create snow, especially not when he was on a firey rampage. "By the way, neither of you know where this snow came from, right?" He poked a small heap of it to make sure it wasn't his hallucination, and was reassured when he felt the chilling wetness on his fingertip.

(Don't worry, you're not the only one that didn't stay glued to the time script here. ^^; I have no room to chew out this round.

Also, I has image of one of the three special Hounds, specifically Entendre.

"Jerky? I would do anything for some jerky right now. Lead on." Finally, food! Wojtek was going to eat some actual food! Naturally excited, he took one step forward and..

F***.

Every one of his limbs had spontaneously fallen asleep. It was almost as if he hadn't moved in 46 days, 19 hours and 30 minutes, despite the fact that he had only been resting for a mere moment. The now very frustrated Russian faceplanted into the snow, that indescribably awful sensation commonly referred to "pins and needles" wracking his entire body. Well, at least it was snow and not dirt. Wojtek turned his head to the left, making himself comfortable in the bank of slush as he waited for the prickly sensation to pass.

"I have no idea where this snow came from.." Wojtek let out a sigh that was a mixture between weariness and comfort, continuing. "..but I'm glad it was here to break my fall. Now, who's Neos and what were you saying about some.. what was it.. blob?"

"He was never on the scroll as well, so I don't really know more than you do, sadly." The Puppeteer said solemnly, as if he was ashamed of what the person had turned out to be.

David pauses, examining what this would mean to him.

If he doesn't know how to operate the compass, then it would truly be of no worth to either of us. He thought. That in mind, I seriously doubt he has any actual interest in keeping the trinkets for his own use, and is likely only interested in 'leveling the playing field' as it were, removing some items from play to make things all the more interesting...

"What a shame, then." David said calmly, drawing the useless compass out from his pocket and tossing it gently over to the Puppeteer, "I was hoping that you would know how to use this compass of his."

David pauses as the Puppeteer examines the compass, giving it a somewhat curious look.

"The strange fop murmured something about it being able to point to anything anywhere..." David says, motioning over to where the man was, "...But I suppose the secret of how exactly it's used died with him. This should be more than enough for the information that I desire, mm?"

The semigolem silently reprimanded themselves as they stood frozen and their yell faded into the distance. It was miraculous that they hadn't given themselves away. The group of people they just left was, what, about 20 metres away? They had enough problems to deal with, and Lament wasn't looking to factor in the problems of somebody else. And speaking of problems, they had just lost a foot.

Slowly, Cautiously, Lament laid their leg down on the wet sand and contemplated how their foot could have vanished so quickly and so painlessly. Searching the water for serpents or other beasts, they found none. Lament dipped a piece of driftwood into the water. It didn't dissolve. After more experimenting, they couldn't find anything wrong with the water. Perhaps it was the horrid mud that did it. It was going to disappear, so it tried to take Lament with it. Yes, that seemed reasonable. Preparing to leave, Lament stood up, surprised to see that a small layer of sand had attached to his foot. That... made sense. In fact,They were surprised they hadn't noticed that right away. Fashioning a fake foot out of sand, Lament set out across the shoreline, taking a mental note of the general location of the aforementioned group. They'll need supplies sooner or later.

(Sorry if I kept you waiting, but I needed to get my bearings and check where we were story-wise. Also, wasn't it supposed to be Luggs turn when we revived this thread?)

---------------

Walking in a trance similar to hypnosis, the man moved so quickly and with so little interruptions it was like he was gliding across the forest floor. In the man's eye, he could only see the outlines of what crude path the creature took, a piercing, unearthly ringing beginning to form in his ear.  With each stride towards escape, with each step along the marked path, the ringing grew louder, his thoughts almost drowned in the awful din.

Along the horizon, the first glimmer of sunlight pokes in, uninterrupted by the leaves or flora of the forest, making Tempus cover his eyes with the palm of his hand at first. At this point, the ringing was a horrible screech of metal and unearthly torment of creatures that he subconsciously covered his ears coyly. They at least, however, had a route to leave this forest, no mattre how far it is in the distance.

(Been such a long time that my writing skills deteriorated. Forgive me or look down on me however you like.

Also, the piercing sounds something like this.

Loud and annoying as hell.)

Eve followed after the man. He wasn't talkative man but that was fine by her. It gave her time to think. First thing she'd need is more purple gems. She had maybe a few hours left on her current gem and the one in her pocket. That gave her 28 hours tops, plus the 30 minutes it'd take for her to phase out. She couldn't help but grin as a few rays of sunlight was able to reach the forest floor. Good. They were getting close to its edge.

She picked at one of the corners of her mouth with her clawed hand, unintentionally creating a slight stretch to her mouth on the right side. Ugh. This evolution thing was something she'd have to be careful about.

(BTW, Shadow, you once mentioned a game called MUSH...is this it? http://mush.twinoid.com/ )

"Jerky? I would do anything for some jerky right now. Lead on."

"What about Neos? We can't leave him here..."
Making note of the direction the shadowed arrow was pointing toward after opening his eyes, Isaac dropped concentration on it to allow the black mist that formed it to disappear before turning back toward Wojtek and Isaac.

"Somehow, I suspect he will be fine," Isaac started to say toward the young bender. "If he only passed out after the Night Monster raked its claws across his chest, I'm sure he can handle himself." He recalled Neos being knocked backwards into the light he was carrying that night, passing out and becoming smaller until he was a blob-like creature that could easily fit in his pockets. It's still a miracle that the wounds even healed without minimal medical treatment.

Now that he thought about it, he hasn't seen Neos without a shirt since then to double-check on that wound...

"By the way, neither of you know where this snow came from, right?"

"I have no idea where this snow came from...but I'm glad it was here to break my fall. Now, who's Neos and what were you saying about some...what was it...blob?"
Isaac broke out of his momentarily-induced thoughts at Wojtek's question, remembering the fact that not everyone knew that not all that had been pulled to the Islands was human to being with.

"First of all, the 'blob' I mentioned and Neos are one and the same," Isaac began to explain, crossing his arms in thought. "Though he seems to favor an..." Isaac looked sideways for a moment before looking back toward Wojtek. "...odd human form, Neos is actually some sort of shapeshifter. I don't know the exact species, but his real form is that of a golden blob with insanely-bright green eyes."

"What a shame, then." Maxwell broke out of his thoughts for a moment at David's words just in time to see the sneaky bastard pull out what seemed like a normal compass. "I was hoping that you would know how to use this compass of his."

Maxwell did recognize it, but the Magician had no need for it. Why would he need a compass to navigate a terrain that he crafted almost every inch of?

"The strange fop murmured something about it being able to point to anything anywhere...But I suppose the secret of how exactly it's used died with him. This should be more than enough for the information that I desire, mm?"

"I'm more amazed that didn't disappear on his death than interested in it," Maxwell began,  an eyebrow only slightly raised at the compass. "But you're better off scrapping that...wait." An idea formed in Maxwell's head, a devious little idea that could aid in his own personal agenda. "I have an idea. I'll let you have the scroll, which changes as time go by, and inform you of what I do know of that unique compass. However..."

The sideways toothy grin that Maxwell let show had just a few too many visible pointed fangs, more than a human should have normally.

"...the next time I come to you for a request, you will accept it without question, reservation, judgement or second thought in general. Understood?"

The golden blob was looking little more darker than it should, the lack of food was finally starting to get to the tiny creature and it was making the shimmer in its film dimmer than it should be. The three black slashes that laid across its front center still remained, clear and visible, and there was a darkness beginning to form in its tiny eyes.

In its weakened state, it barely maintained any form of focused thought, even to try and find food...

(Guess what's finally managing to start breaking through...?)

"Listen to me, Wojjy," He calmly said. "You must'n let your insanity get a hold of you. Unlike in the world you use to know, insanity is power. It's real in this material world. That said, there's also the horrors that feed off insanity, find it like candy to a child. They will come for you and 'relieve' you of your insanity with their very very sharp teeth and claws," Isaac explained like a rambling mad man. After his long winded explanation, he patted Wojtek's face one side and continued the journey home.

I don't know the exact species, but his real form is that of a golden blob with insanely-bright green eyes. But for now..." Coughing into a fist for a second after uncrossing his arms, the doctor offered his other hand toward the burly stranger. "The days seem long, but I don't recall an exchange of names. I'm Isaac, and you are...?"

Simon frowned, thinking. "Alright, if you say so..." He reached into the pile of snow and coated his hand with the cold substance, staring at it. His curiosity peaked as it began melting at a fast rate. His hand did feel a bit warm, and what snow didn't fall between his fingers finished melted fairly quickly. Although he had a few ideas as to what had happened during his mental absence, he couldn't seem to recall some of the more important details. "Uh... So, what happened to me? My brain sort of shut off." He looked at Wojtek, then at Isaac.

Wojtek only stared at Isaac as he explained what Neos was, keeping eye contact as he rose to his feet amidst the melting snow. In the middle of it all, Wojtek wiped the slush from his beard, which had gotten noticeably longer since he had begun traveling with this trio. Time seemed to be passing much faster than it should have been..

"...but his real form is that of a golden blob with insanely bright-green eyes."

Neos sounded like some kind of mythical figure.. and when a mythical figure is involved, the story tends to be about them and at the expense of others. Perhaps that was the explanation behind all these surreal happenings, some powerful being putting someone through a story and seeing how the narrative plays out. The thought of this gave Wojtek a brief moment of unease, wondering just what sort of role he was meant to play in this "Neos" creature's story. If everything leading up to this moment was any indication, it would probably be a single immense incident. Immense incident's usually left many bodies, only allowing the lucky to move forward.

Wojtek didn't want luck to decide his fate.

"Uh... So, what happened to me? My brain sort of shut off."

The Russian looked down towards Simon, laying in a puddle of water left behind by the snow. "There was an.. zdarzenie1. You tried to burn down everything you saw. It can be discussed on the way, but we must not marudzić2. Get up so we can get moving."

"I'm more amazed that didn't disappear on his death than interested in it, but you're better off scrapping that...wait." The Puppeteer stopped himself, his mouth quickly turning inwards to make a large, toothy grin of sharp teeth, "I have an idea. I'll let you have the scroll, which changes as time go by, and inform you of what I do know of that unique compass. However...the next time I come to you for a request, you will accept it without question, reservation, judgement or second thought in general. Understood?"

David was rather unnerved by the request. What was this twisted Puppeteer planning?

"...I'll agree to that, so long as the compass will work as I believe it should, and the request you make later isn't detrimental to me." David says somewhat sharply, "I'm a reasonable man. If the request itself is reasonable or, better yet, mutual, there will be no issue whatsoever. Deal?"
