This thread is meant to gather ideas on how to implement the "Willette Attacks" mod, based on this gif:

iprqhmTK1Posk.gif

I'd like your input on the specifics of how that should be implemented. More precisely

  • Should Willette randomly spawn offscreen and charge against the player, or should her spawning be triggered by some specific event? Should she appear periodically, or spawn just once?
  • Should her stats be the same as a regular player? If so, she might be a real challenge to beat, especially since she could easily stunlock the player with attacks. On the other hand, the low health of a player would require making her immune to toothtraps, or having her be able to disarm them, otherwise traps would trivialise the encounter.
  • Which equipment should she wear? Should she drop them on death?
  • Should just one Willette spawn, or should multiple Willettes attack the player at once?
Suggestions not listed above are also welcome. Edited by simplex

she should get triggered till enough bunnymen got killed

Leaving too much monster meat lying around sometimes attracts Willettes(10 or more, there's a check at the start of every morning). The regular ones should be friendly, but at night, they may turn into Nightmare Willettes and attack. Yes, they drop whatever they were carrying upon death. Loot should be monster lasagna or cooked monster meat.

As for health, should be about 100 per, plus, a random chance for a willette to be wearing some random equippable item and a weapon. Aka, a 5% chance of one willette having a top hat, marble suit and a ham bat, so on, so forth.

And, also, maybe add rare occurences of just one regular willette, except neutral. Will gather resources, chop wood, fight enemies with acceptable-level A.I, and make a camp somewhere. : D

There's my two bits for now.

Amusing, yes....so very....very...amusing....

But i'd only ever really download it if it had some purpose. Same thing with a lot of other people.

Only the Shadow one should come for us. At night, for maximum tears.

This, basically. No matter how amusing the gif is, this mod needs some higher purpose than infantile laughs of Wilson burning in hell.

So, to recap:

*Rare sightings of a regular Willette in daytime. Will gather resources, defend herself with a random weapon, carry armor and food and stuff to not starve. Perhaps could be befriended with Monster Lasagna, finally giving the fail crockpot food a use.

*Regular Willette is harmless. If her sanity dips too low, however, she turns into Monster Willette, becomes hostile.

*75% of Wilson's health.

*If a Willette has not been befriended, there is a chance that every 3rd night, you will be attacked by 2 Monster Willettes, which scales up in size up to 20, much like hounds do. Chance should be 5%, so to not make it ridiculously unfair.

*On death, she drops anything she was carrying, including weapon and any armor/clothing she was wearing, and inventory items, much like pigs would.

*EDIT: A modded-in quote upon meeting these Willettes if you happen to be using the Willette character mod :3

Sounds good, I think.

If you play the Waverly mod, it might help you get a good idea of the difficulty (minus the summons), as her character stats are identical to her mob stats. I wouldn't say it's OP, but if you want it to be periodic, like the hound attacks, you would either need to give them enough time to build a log suit and a boomerang (or a spear if you don't want to add the pig's fight tactics.) or make her mob health about 70-80% of her character health.

I absolutely love the idea that you just see her wandering around collecting resources, sometimes...

Though I'm of the opinion that if she's a sort of 'inhabitant' there should only ever be one - only attacking if she becomes Monster Willette. (Perhaps a much larger version of the monster form, with high stats to make it a difficult fight.)

If you kill Monster Willette, permadeath for Willette on that save file.

I really quite like the idea that other people are inhabiting the island, trying to survive alongside you. It changes the feel of the setting in an interesting way.

How about something like this:

Willette spawns as a set piece in the world and depending on the amount of days that have passed her camp/base is different.

0 - 10 days Willette wanders around the area and gathers supplies. Can be befriended cheaply (monster meat?)

11 - 20 days Small base containing few berry bushes, wooden walls science machine and or drying rack requires more to befriend.

21 - 30 days Medium base containing previous stuff and alchemy engine, crock pot, bee box few grass tufts and farms. Willette requires monster lasanga to befriend.

31 - 40 days Medium base containing previous stuff and fur roll, stone walls.

41 - more days Willette demands Blood1!1!

Base now includes prestihatitator and one magic stuff (living logs, beard hair or something similar).

(Also if we want to be fancy lureplants to make entering her base more diificult)

And the Main Willette starts creating clones of herself meaning:

*If a Willette has not been befriended, there is a chance that every 3rd night, you will be attacked by 2 Monster Willettes, which scales up in size up to 20, much like hounds do. Chance should be 5%, so to not make it ridiculously unfair.

If Willette (original) dies the attacks stop, and her death is permanent.

Why befriend her? Better sanity boost than from pigs. Can be equipped with weapons and armor.

Why not to befriend her? Being close to her would sap her sanity; turning her into a monster. And since she is fellow survivor that also has permadeath she escapes if her health drops low or her weapon breaks.

Why kill her? Gain control of her base! And Loot! perhaps!

Anyway just my ideas.

Hmm, what about monster Willette spawning every full moon? Or, if she were to naturally spawn as a friendly mob, she would turn into monster Willette on a full moon and become hostile to the player. Just a few ideas :3

I don't like the idea of a Monster Willette spawning every full moon. It's going to turn into tedium. It should be random nights, as to keep it interesting.

I definitely think Willette should be an event rather than a set piece. She shouldn't necessarily show up in the world generation but should spawn later. That way, her building a base could be a miniature world-changing event!

Yes, I agree. It would make finding her harder since most exploration is done in the beginning during resource gathering. And assuming she wouldnt have a map icon until actually located, she would have more time to setup the base and start attacking.

right here, in these four sentences you got all my real-life stats XD

are you a wizard?
