You meet Clopsie, game over.

Recommended Posts

I've been struggling with Adventure mode lately, before the character power's update. The Game is Afoot was the easiest one, but now... JEEZUS!

When I meet Deerclops, it is gameover, there is no escape, he kills everything, and when he is done killing everything he starts to kill me, he is always after me, I swear to god I made him fight spider cluster and ran on the second end of the map, he found me.

How am I supposed to kill this guy!?

Yeah, I never get how those "I survived 400 days!" people manage to keep those massive bases, seems like you'd have

to pretty much start over every winter, assuming deerclops doesn't kill you in the first place.

Not at all a problem if you do this: Just make a secondary structure and/or lure him away to another place with a fire source. It's the combat methods that are hard to master (if you don't kite well that is) at first.

All you need to do is run away from your base when you hear the groans. Then when he spawns freeze him, get him aggroed to something else or simply let him de-aggro and run away and leave him there.

Remember when The Game is Afoot gave you free hat and started endless summer in second day... those were good times.

K then, the Don't Starve is amazing example of learning on mistakes, I will do that, and never fight clopsie directly, after all, a torch is keeping you hot, so you can run even the whole winter.

And finding out that was a bugged coding that it was supposed to be 10 days of winter first really floored me...

but I honored the intent and fix.

Easiest way (as said) if you can is to run elsewhere when the groaning starts to have him away form your base (that secondary area with fire to wait if need be) and the tip said by many (including me now) if all else fails combat-wise, to tank with multiple (and I mean a LOT, minimum 4) of log suits.

Edit: And calling him Deary makes him all Girly-like...

...no, not really, he's REALLY mad now, but I caught you Grinning!

Should you happen to dump Sanity with no restoring options left (if none to start, why didn't you prepare something then if you built a base) you can fight the two to three Nightmares with those Log Suit remainders for free Nightmare Fuel and Sanity restored.

Well DeerFlops doesn't show every winter... Unless you set him higher in the world settings....

Nor does he always show when at your base, as he can (begin to) spawn wherever you are (assuming that percentage for spawning is met and you even hear that growl that season....)

Beard would get quite handy, I can start on Archipelago, the easiest one, and the winter maps would be piece of cale, but question is...

Can I keep Wilson's beard between worlds?

Yep. I used him in AM the first time. As it turns out, I never got the permanent winter level.

First time I saw him I shat myself. He destroyed an alchemy engine and a lightning rod and went his merry way. I just stood there, frozen. Second time I put on my marble suit and football helmet, grabbed my tentacle spike and went to town. He died pretty easily. I think once you overcome the awe and fear for the many mobs of this game you can own them pretty easily (except Rock Lobsters, those bastards are TOUGH). I was scared shitless of Spider Queens and now I have a nice collection of their hats :-)
