(I just sat down to post. Then I see [New post has been added]. I refresh to see your post. Curse the gods of bad timing! Wait... did you just say "postie"? I think RPing as Clevoir has gotten to your head a bit, Tesa...)

Claudius shakes his head. "No thank you. I have a fair amount at my camp. You are welcome to follow me to it if you want. 'Tis only a few minutes walk away from here." Claudius sets off without waiting to see if Velage follows him. He rests Shadow's Bane on his shoulder, unconsciously grateful to the shoulder pad, for if it had not been there, Claudius's blade would most likely have sliced his arm clean off. Or at least it would with a fleshy arm. He wasn't quite sure how his new mechanical body would hold up.

Claudius sits down at his camp, and begins lighting a fire. The few minutes journey had been an odd one to say the least. He could hear an odd screeching somewhere far off. Additionally, soft, undecipherable whispers entered his mind. He was sure it was just a trick that his brain was playing on him. He had grown somewhat used to it after battling Shatter, a powerful shadow mage, for so long. He shook his head clear of his previous battles and glory and light a fire in his pit. A huge amount of smoke began billowing high into the air.

The swamp was behind him now, Lucy was too. He could hear her calling after him, but he wasn't in control, it was. Jeckyll had his Hyde, Woodie had his Werebeaver. A monster of a thing, although one could be caught off guard by its appearance. The curly mustache and stubby ears were almost playful, but when the thing was seen in action..

The Werebeaver was on a sprinting pace now, it had something it wanted to do while Woodie was asleep. Something it had been trying to do every time it got the chance. The hulk of a thing was not the mindless simpleton it appeared to be, it knew how this world worked. Dark magic brought it to life during a cold Winter in Grouse Mountain, and it could feel that same magic around it now. All around it. Beaver-like feet stepped onto the cold tile of the Chess biome as to the sound of gears turning and evil creatures awakening.

Maxwell practically jumped from his seat at the sound of the gramophone blaring out garbled, yet urgent sounds. The shadowy cuffs holding his wrists in place yanking him backwards. Well, somewhat backwards. He found he could raise off the seat just slightly, something he knew he shouldn't be able to do. He'd make a note of that once the current situation was handled. That is, the situation at the Teleportato.

The demon of a man slumped back into his seat, then leaned forward in worry when he saw what was on the mechanical screen that had risen from the floor in front of him. He was seeing from a Knight's point of view, the strong green of its night vision illuminating everything it saw. The Knight was charging to a large, bulky figure. It looked remarkable like a Werepig but larger, with lighter fur.. he didn't recognize this thing, certainly didn't create it. Disconcerting.

Suddenly the creature lunged towards the Knight, and just like that the feed was gone. Several seconds of static, and Maxwell was watching the action unfolding from one of the two Bishops that guarded the area. The Rook was running about haphazardly, trying desperately to get a lock on this strange attacker, but the beast was as nimble as it was imposing. Light fur, some sort of black cloth.. it was moving too fast, and it was completely demolishing everything in front of it. The Knight from earlier was, well, decorating the entire marble flooring to put it delicately. It seemed like everything else was going to follow suit quickly. Just what the hell was this thing?!

Maxwell gritted his teeth, shaking his head once. First he'd lost that Canadian, and now this thing was tearing apart his chess pieces. He looked towards the parchment he'd set on the end of one of his lights. The fire had gone out when he willed it too, now functioning as an end table. He was going to try and manipulate that Knight and the Frenchman to look for Woodie, but..

Celevoir's light was fantastic, Wright could see everything on the ground. The gurgle of a roar had completely passed him by, he was too busy studying the rabbit holes between the numerous tufts of grass. Even a few boulders jutted from the ground here and there, and a dirt road seemed to run down the middle of the whole biome. Food for hunting, grass for crafting and a road! Roads always lead somewhere good, that much he knew. Oh, once the sun came back up he would have to explore that! He was interrupted from his fantasies of the days to come when he felt Celevoir's hair rising against his chest, sitting upright to see that her leaves were rising and her hair standing on end. Something had spooked her, and after a quick sniff and the sight of smoke rising into the air Wright assumed he knew why.

"Aww, Celevoir. It's probably nothing. Let's go find the fire where that's coming from and you can see for yourself, it might actually be something nice! Why, the last time I followed a smoke signal I found barbecued pork." He was, of course, blissfully unaware that Celevoir was as afraid of fire as she was of whatever had made that unearthly sound.

(Buh, I wish I could make some sort of map to show everyone what the layout's supposed to be like. I'll just say that it has seven huge branches of land. The one we're in now is the southwest corner of the map, containing the grasslands and the savannah. The Lumpy Tree Forest, swamp and Chess biome are all in the northeast behind plenty of other things designed to keep us from getting in their easily.)

Graciously offering the knight's request, Velage began to walk with him toward what would be his camp. Not long after this happened, however, he heard a faint screeching in the distance. Startled, Velage looked around nervously. No matter whether that being was screeching in pain or anger, it wasn't a good sign. The screeching continued for the entire time's travel to the base, and by that time, Velage went immediately from relaxed to catatonic. With his current state, he couldn't fight or run, so he would defenseless if that thing came closer.

He had now noticed that Claudius had led him to a fire pit and had light a small fire. After setting down his supply of twigs and grass, Velage spoke up. "So, what do you think that screech was from? It seemed pretty far off."

One benefit of having a snake-like body is the ability to turn one's head completely around when doing something without moving the rest of the body.

And that's exactly what Celevoir had done in mid-flight, looking at her passenger as if he was doing the horizontal tango with a can of nuts. Shaking her head as she gave a pair of short whines that quite clearly sounded like 'nuh-uh', she did decide to fly lower to just above the height that most trees here seem to grow to so that both she and Wright could get a better view of things, turning her head back to the normal direction just before doing so.

She hadn't noticed the smoke before, so her seeing it after being pointed out did put her on edge-even more. She carefully flew around the fire's white cloud in the sky as she searched for the source of the odd sound.

Against the black sky, she probably stood out to a great degree...

Claudius looked around in response to Velage's question. He had indeed heard the shriek, but hadn't given it a second thought. In fact, he didn't give it a first thought to begin with. He had learned never to falter. Only react if he knew that something was coming right at him. The screech had come from far enough away that Claudius felt that he had nothing to fear. "It is most likely simply an animal. As long as it is not hostile, then we should not worry." Although the screech may not have been going towards them, something else was.

Claudius noticed, as he watched the smoke billow upwards, a figure of some sort. It was emitting light, strangely enough, so it was easy to see. There seemed to be some serpent-like creature, and mounting that was a man. Claudius held his broadsword at the ready. They were a bit too close for comfort. "Who goes there? State thine business!"

Wright could tell from the make of Claudius' armor that the man was English. He'd seen armor similar in style before, after being taken off the slave ships. Knights would escort him and groups of others towards farms where there would work under terrible conditions. Just the visual reminder made his blood boil, and he got a sick sort of comfort seeing that Claudius was in a similar dire situation as he had been in recently. Just more support for his theory of a localized apocalypse, if anything. He didn't respond to the demand, simply growling under his breath as his fingers idly pat his pocket to find the piece of flint he had picked up that afternoon. Of course, if it came down to it, he was hardly at an advantage in terms of gear.. but he did have Celevoir, and the person this Knight was with didn't seem like they would be trouble, probably wouldn't even interfere.

It was a slaughter, a wonderfully one sided slaughter. It had.. maybe a few hours to get its work done, but there would be another full moon tomorrow. One night for preparation, one night to make the damn thing. The Werebeaver grabbed bits of broken marble and bunched them together in a pile with the gears, scrambling to grab onto the two purple gems dropped by the now decimated Bishops. It would have preferred to hide these somewhere.. but it couldn't sense any intelligent presence in the immediate vicinity, it had turned the biggest threats in kilometers to scrap. Moving quickly, it raced back towards the camp in the middle of the Lumpy Evergreen Forest, intending to get there before the sun rose.

(New characters can join in at any time, so long as my standards are met. Should I not be accepting additional characters for any reason I'll be sure to say so in the original post. Looking forward to your character sheet!)

(The post order is the order of the names listed in the OP, so you would be going after truthseeker, who's going after Blewcheese, who's going after Tesability, etc. I'm sorry about the wait!)

(Sorry, but I'm going to have to decline. Your character sheet is a little lackluster in comparison to everyone else's. Last post was three days ago and we've been waiting on Kidney since, I'm starting to wonder if I should do something about this.)

(School doesn't like my extra time that much. Sorry for the lateness.)

After a long time of waiting, Velage spoke up, hoping to undo the negative impression Claudius just made. To Velage, they seemed trustworthy. "Hello? Can you hear us? We won't hurt you. I can't speak for my friend here, though I trust he will not attack you without provocation. I, for other reasons, can't attack you even if you tried to kill me. I assure you it's safe to talk to us. Please, come down."

Celevoir had never seen armor before.

Celevoir had also never seen armor that appeared to move by itself, either. The fact that the armor had coming out of it a head that seemed living didn't seem to catch her attention, though the blade that the walking armor had did.

Flapping her large wings as she floated high in the air, the spectral bird thought for a split second before cautiously lowering herself toward the ground, though she was ready to fly off once more in case of something happening.

Her eyes leveled themselves with the new pair, another two strange 'girls' in this world. Where were the girls she knew of? It was wierd they weren't around to be found in this odd place. Head tilting slightly from side to side in thought, she caught sight of something slithering, something behind the frail man. The eye that showed the reflection of the thin one also showed something snake-like behind him, a transparent shadow whose head looked almost like a clawed hand...

A pair of chirps that sounded as if it had a commanding tone were aimed at the odd thing, though the levitating creature didn't turn her head toward it. It gave off a hiss at her before scattering off...

...which prompted her to fold one of her headleaves and scratch the top of her head in confusion with it.

(This poor bird is probably just as confused by her surroundings as she confuses others. Also, I've noticed no one's realized the reference I've put in my character's profile... >.>)
