Doors?

I was looking thought the game files because I just felt like it and I noticed a folder named "door.zip".

 

Will doors be added to the game? And if so, when? I have an idea of what they would do, if they are something that will be added to the game in the future.

For now, the easiest way to make a door is to have one section made of grass wall and just hit it with something to pass and heal it back with 1 grass,

I have a storage room in my camp and that's what i do...anyway you should always have at least some grass on you and it only takes 1-3 hits depending on what you're wielding and only 1 grass to heal it back. :loyal:

 

edit: also the berry gate seems like a good idea but i tried it when it got posted, but i play with a controller and it was way too hard so i just gave up on that lol.

Mobs walk around them for a change, and they still prevent them from walking out of them.

 

Oh. I never really bothered with walls unless it was for Beefalo. Even then, I use it for looks rather than containment since it's not that much of an issue.

This is an interesting use of the walls.

 

I've used even only small stone walls for containing 8 Bunnymen and 4 tier 4 Spider Dens. If something aggros on you, it will bust down walls to get to you. It makes sense being able to pen the mobs in to make farms. What other point is there to the structures than to have that creature kill or be killed?

 

If walls cannot contain as well as they do now, even small farms would be hard to manage. You would have to build these further farm your base and therefore, less active. If the area isn't loaded then the mobs are not fighting.

 

I say this is all as intended. The light from teh pig torches are only a local benefit. You still have to deal with the dark if you go outside the camp. Anyone that uses them would still need a fire to keep warm in the winter. (or a ton of food and tents)

 

It would suck not having a Koalaphant petting zoo.

 

I think things should stay as they are with regards to walls. Door-less and all.

I'm surprised you didn't know this trick. Should they spawn (and I discover them before I make a base and they are in a decent spot,) I frequently use them for a free base light (and nothing else but a light of course.) Or they can work for a Forward Operating Base if discovered later.

Has anyone consider the possiblity that this file could be related to the door to adventure?

They've already mentioned several times wanting to add doors. It's just one of the many assets that was either abandoned due to it not turning out the way they wanted or considered it less important with the time they had left.

Which creatures does this work with? I've tried hounds but they either start breaking the wall or go through the narrow gap.
