IS THE HIT BIRDS IN FLIGHT EXPLOIT

Briefly before the first "All's Well that Maxwell" hot-fix, you could hit birds in flight killing them without traps or ranged weapons. That hot-fixed removed that exploit.

The joke didn't work if you didn't get the meaning though, but wasn't being serious there last reply. :)

Yes!  I finally got a Krampus sack!  Hundreds of poor innocent bunnies and birdies slaughtered, piles and piles of meat left to rot, chests full of charcoal, enough feathers to make a Las Vegas act, but it was all worth it!

Seriously, this thing is sweet.  The next time I went down in the ruins after that I came back with so much freakin loot.

i use backpacks all the time.

there's one exception where i got krampus sack, it happened the 2nd time krampus spawned in my game.

the 1st time krampus spawned, i didn't know that it's the creature with the sack, i was low on health so i just ran away from him. -.-

the 2nd time krampus spawned when i was at my tooth traps field, then basically krampus died after he triggered a few traps, i didn't even do anything to him, he came, he died, and he dropped his sack and that's how i got my krampus sack.

then i read wiki about krampus sack and realized how lucky i was.

i've never been bothered to get another sack on my other save so i can only imagine how frustating that 1% drop chance for unlucky players.

I think the Krampus Sack is the only thing "legal" to save scum for. Never have I save scummed for anything else. I WANT to save scum for a Tam, but I don't. It's 25% witch is fair for such a good item.

Why not just get the resources need to summon a Krampus, expend them, then spawn in the Krampus Sack using console? If you're gonna get it anyway you might as well speed up the process instead of tediously alt+f4ing...

Nah, that would require thinking.

I use a backpack all the time, I can't live without it. I use the backpack as just extra slots to carry my stuff but I never use the piggyback because it slows you down, if its just to relocate my base I might use it but not for adventuring. The krampus sack is nearly impossible to get so if by some chance I did get it I would be stoked but I would never try to get it because its would take days.

Nobody has really answered the question of what they keep in their backpacks except Teo. What do you guys feel okay with being able to toss on the ground when you get in a combat situation and need the logsuit?

Allow me to continue to not answer your question before turning around and answering your question after I'm done not answering your question (that seroquel is really messing with my head you guys. Sure, I can sleep when I need to, but at what cost. At what cost?!). I am always wearing a backpack during the first Winter, I don't bother making a Breezy Vest when I'm sure to end up hunting a Winter Koalefant in the first several days of snowfall. I primarily use it to store grass and logs so that I can save my hotbar for stocks of food, and tools. It's also a great place to the store the Eyebone, you'll never have to worry about Chester charging into combat and getting slaughtered when he's too busy snuggling with your backpack off in the corner as you Log Suit it up. I made the mistake of keeping an eye bone in my inventory once, once. Seeing a stack of of pig skins eaten in front of my eyes was a definite wake up call.

OH it's worth it. It's worth it.

(Then again I have terrible inventory management maybe someone with good inventory management won't need a big bad@$$ sack)

I am right there with you. Why am I carrying these rocks around everywhere I go?!

Use the breezy vest. Unless you're mass farming, try avoiding bags and find a familiar orientation for your inventory. You'll learn to leave crap lying around spots where it's actually useful, so that you can prioritize picking up rare or difficult-to-obtain objects on the way (the biggest offenders of this are probably tools with varying levels of durability remaining).

I don't use Backpacks anymore due to the numerous deaths because I forgot to put my log suit back on.

once I find chester I usualy have plenty of inventory space, of cource when the hounds come and kill Chester I end up making several trips back to my base until he respawns.

All in a day work, I always say.

Back in my old world, I was exploring a forest. And as I was leaving there was a random, huge pile of backpacks, krampus sacks, and piggybacks. I never got to the end of the pile. It was both awesome and very confusing.

And my games just crash when they get buggy. Why can't I ever have this problem?!

Nope, it's not even possible on the Krampus mod.

I guess the game just recognized my awesomeness and thought I deserved a reward fro being so awesome.

Hey Magical Title Fairy!

There's his title! "Recognized Awesomeness!"

Edit: or reading his reply "Grilled Cheese" :p

(And give me a title too please! )

Well, I'm only just now learning to play without one. Caves and Ruins are the reason.

Before caving, my standard daily inventory was:

On me:

30+ straw

30+ twigs

10+ logs

30+ pinecones

heatstone (yes year round, I never want to forget it, plus it gives you a few extra seconds of light if hot)

eye bone

ice staff

fire staff

pan flute

amulet of life

lantern

mining helmet

food

seeds (or open for seed so I can collect them as I go)

-open-

Backpack

15+ stones

25+ flint

ax

pick

shovel

secondary weapon (usually spear or tentacle spike, sometimes darts or boomerang, or a walking cane)

helmet

log suit (if in a battle, this is equipped and pack drops until battle is over)

Equipped

spear (OR tentacle spike)

backpack

top hat in summer or a winter hat in winter OR swap with helmet if battle

Chester

hammer

pitchfork

healing salve

umbrella (or winter vest in winter)

bug net

-open (3 to 4) -

I vary this to try to at least have 3 to 4 empty slots total that I can swap with Chester's open slots as I collect mob drops.

I know full well I don't need all this stuff most of the time, I'm just OCD about it. I hate being where I want to build or collect something and then not having the tools to do it right then. Half the stuff I carry is "Just in case"  if I push it and then get hounds/night/cold/etc. For example, if I cut night too close, I think, well, glow bulbs are a BIT harder to collect for the lantern/mining hat than grass, so light a fire first, then a torch, but keep the miner hat ready just in case because the time to equip the miner hat is faster than building a fire and it might save me a log or two, and bulbs aren't THAT hard to get.  Then suddenly it's dark and I pick whatever I can click in a panic. :)

I'm learning to play one mission at a time - combat, harvesting, etc. The caves forced this on me. For one thing, death is so common, I was spending all my time retrieving stuff.  I have a chest near the entrance now and just "go light" with armor and no pack, and not even Chester (unless i need to carry meat).
