Not really. It would only work with Wickerbottoms book, but with the Feather Hat not that much.

Does the Feather Hat work on Pigs? I assume it has no effect, but if it did, building a Pig House nearby a Lureplant could have interesting effects.. if the Pig doesn't just beat the phlegm out of the Lureplant's defenses.

Pigs are attracted from the lure, so that wouldn't work...

What I use is the Feather hat in conjunction with the eye turret. If no turret is available, then boomerangs. (Or just baited bird traps since i have too much silk and seeds.)

I still don't get the point of this thread.

During my most recent playthrough, i've learned that if I act quickly, and if i'm lucky, I can run up to any bird, and strike it dead with a spear while it's in the midddle of the flying away animation(drops and all), essentially leaving me with the perfect early-game food supply. Never been able to make that happen ever before, seriously.

To do it, you have to use the force attack command, pretty much, and if they fly away in a certain direction, there's no catching them.

Was this a simple update that quietly went unnoticed in the release notes recently, or have I found a wonderous, beautiful exploit that I hope never gets fixed? XD

There was (since "All's Well That Maxwell' 's update) a time where you could hit the birds as they are attempting to fly away and kill them too easily (like the time where you could just run up and kill them a long while back.) The poster is asking about that Nerf. which was active at the time of the thread's creation.

Since the last hotfix this was removed or De-Nerfed (thanks Teo.)

That was the point of this thread. It now is pointless of course.
