  1. I'm making way too many posts now that I've joined today, but its rather enjoyable and hopefully suggestions people love and would like adding, ahem, anyway read below. A slight problem I currently face in Don't Starve is the Starvation of Captured Animals, particularly Birds, although this also applies to Rabbits and Moleworms somewhat. (Although they can't be kept, they still "rot" in your pockets. Although releasing them into a Pen with no Food Source won't kill them.) I appreciate the change as it makes the game more "correct" and challenging, (as if a Bird could just sit there and never die hey?), however, I have no idea how long the bird can survive without food, so when I take a long trip out exploring or gathering materials, I return with a random feather next my cage and the impression that something is missing. My request is a Hunger Meter for Bird Cages when hovered over with by the mouse. This will allow me to get an understanding of when I need to feed the bird to keep it alive, and how much time I can spend away from camp if I want it to still be there when I return. Anyhow, thanks for reading, Kruze.
  2. I totally support this. Its a pain in the ass to farm Snowbirds with boomerang. Not to mention insane boring and game stopping.
  3. I don't know what it is, but I am just not having fun. I am not going to say that the game is terrible, because it is apparent from this community's activity and suggestions that this game has won people over and will continue to do so. On top of that, I am not the type of person to insult another's work of art. So starting off on a pleasant note: I love the art style, the idea of it and the sound design, BUT the gameplay isn't hitting home for me. I have played for about an hour and I feel like I haven't made any progress at all. The speed in which time flows in the game seems to be a little excessive in my eyes and it is probably one of the factors that plays into my lack of entertainment. It kinda of creates the idea that I should sit in one area and gather all of the resources I can just so I can throw it all into the research machine and die just to do it again. It creates a feeling of stress when I am racing against the clock and it get rather old quick. Maybe making time move slower will do the trick. I can't say for sure because it might be many other factors that I have yet to see. I am going to throw another couple of hours in just to see if it hooks me, if it doesn't I will just wait until the next update.
  4. on how overpowered the bird traps are we need to downgrade the birds traps so that only 6-4 birds(birds spawn infinitely now) get caught in them a day i have 120 morsels just from doing the bird traps another thing that could be is the traps go down by 20 percent each time called dont starve
  5. Hey all First of all big thanks for klei entertainment for developing this great game And If something might sound odd please forgive me but English is not my native language. I just bought the game and I must say it's really something else and I just love it. I was going to buy it long time ago but there was always some other game in the way. But since we all survived another end of the world I decided to finnaly buy it and I don't regret buying it a bit. The atmosphere is great, animations look really good and funny (just love how main hero and animals run ) Graphic also look really good and animal/monster design looks brilliant and when I first time saw giant turky jumping out of the bush started to gobbl and run away I couldn't help but laugh So far I'm on day 12 so I think it's good time to start to look for place to camp. I only discovered small part of land but I was thinking about making camp site near pig village somewhere around this spot is this good idea ? Cheers
  6. In the new patch long live the queen i think it is there is a problem ive killed about 10 birds with no feathers please fix this because it is really annoying and tell me if im doing something wrong. (i use birdcages put the down and kill them)
  7. I log into my playthrough of around 36 days, my new record since I bought the game only 5 days or so ago. I go in, and I've set my camp up decently close to 5 or 6 spider dens. Not close enough that they come in my camp at night, but so I can farm them if I wanted to. I built 2 bee mines, 4 fire darts, had 2 pigs with me, and I was wielding a tentacle spike along with my log suit. Much to my surprise all 4 of the nearest dens became spider queens, I managed to kill 2, then night came and I retreat to my camp. After much kiting and the use of my meat effigy, I kill the third. Day has come and the 4th spider queen is still infesting my camp, I have no food, weapon, or armor. I don't want to lose all the stuff at my camp either. I suit up with a fresh log suit, retrieve my extra tentacle spike. The queen has summoned 4 warrior since my departure, after I finally kill them I go in to kite and kill the queen. I imagine she was almost dead because night rolls around again, and I finally die. Not a rant, just wanted to share my adventure of the new patch before the balances. I know they didn't balance spider queens, but since my world was an old world all my spider dens were synchronized and 4 spider queens mauled me. It was a good run though, now I get to try out a new character and see if I can't beat 38 days! =)
  8. First off, let's talk about birds... 1. They land on top of seeds and can easily be farmed for their feathers and/or their meat. 2. If you don't even want to kill them, they'll repeatedly land on a seed, and if you're next to it, they'll fly away, sometimes dropping seeds, making them easily farmed. Secondly, seeds... 1. Seeds have an incredibly high drop rate and when cooked over a fire, you can live off of them. You will never need another source of food. So... The solution? I believe that the birds new to have their AI fixed a bit so they won't land if the player is within a certain distance of them, and the seed drop rate should be lowered, as well as how much health and hunger they replenish. I believe all three of these values should be lowered quite a bit to make the game much more balanced. Seeds are way too easy to farm and live off of.
  9. The answer is simple! Pan flute. Just gather a ton of reeds so you can always have a pan flute when you need it, and then put your small bird to sleep whenever you need to go out adventuring (Or hounds are coming.) When you come back, you will find your birds charging cheerfully towards you, but will stay where you put them, until you come close enough.
  10. I was playing today and yesterday after a few break for a few days and as I place down my normal everyday trap I notice something strange. When I bait the normal trap with seeds birds fly into them. This just makes me wonder what is the point making the bird trap at all if the normal trap being baited with seeds causes them to fly into it and be trapped. Also it seems odd that I'm getting so much normal uncooked meat from a bird. Getting the feathers I understanding but when I think a bird I think a tiny amount of meat on them considering there birds and not rabbits or something larger. I don't know if its intentional that a normal trap baited with seeds is just as effective too capture birds as doing it with a separate bird trap, but I thought it should be mentioned. As well as fixing it to where if birds do drop meat after collecting them beyond just for their feathers why not make it smaller chunks that give very little food meter replenishment or requires catching multiple birds to combine together as kinda of a side bonus and making it extra worth our whiles to catch birds for more then just feathers. Maybe something reasonable like 4 pieces of bird meat can then be turned into a large meat or if cooked in the pot with some other bird items like, gobbler leg, tall-bird egg and some seeds some special recipe. As I said I don't know if this was intentional since I've read the patch notes and didn't see anything really say that normal traps can now lure and catch birds. If it is it seems silly to have bird traps at all and that still give you large pieces of meat like you'd get from a rabbit. I hope to get a response Soon to know if this was helpful information or not. Otherwise I bloody love the game and currently on day 25 with a few boxes my first meat effigy and a nice bee box.
  11. I have 1 steam and 2 chrome keys available. I am willing to trade or sell via Paypal. PM me with any offer must include any games you have available and are willing to trade. NO Dota 2's already have 3 keys to try and get rid of for that game also.
  12. Hi! I found that morsel meat and cooked morsel restores less hunger than berries, making traps way more demanding in time and resources. Still, you can use ground traps with seeds to catch birds, so why the trouble of building a bird one? Well, that's what I thought while playing last time anyways. Thanks!
