NewBorn
played don't strave for awhile now, but I always feel I'm almost always looking for food... can't explore etc cause half the time I am out looking for food, is there any simple decent food that is easy to make and decent? was thinking of just building 5 bee boxes and just live from honey.. but not to sure, I want to explore all the new stuff I have yet to explore, cause I am out everyday finding food. P.S I know I spelt "survive" wrong but wont let me change it.
Spazmatic
Build all the beeboxes you can, plant some flowers down, and camp in your base. Alternatively, hunt that rapid respawning annoying mammal aka the Koalefant for lots of food both during summer and winter
NewBorn
was thinking just getting all the beeboxes I can making a beebox area near my area.. and just be the honey man..
Grumpy
If you camp near rabbit holes you can place traps and then go out exploring for the day. When you come back... tasty tasty morsels waiting to be harvested. Same with farms. You don't need to sit and watch them grow ya know. Bee boxes too. If you transplant some berry bushes into a nearby grove then you can only harvest them every few days. In fact, now that I think about it, I can't think of any food source that requires constant attention. I spend more time managing my food later in the game when I'm literally drowning in it trying not to let anything spoil. Of course, the name of the game is Don't Starve so you have to expect that finding food is going to be part of the challenge.
TeoSS69
Beeboxes won't make enough food to last you through winter. Make some crock pots and cook things. Honey Ham is great, unless you play as Wolfgang.

23rd
I feel like this may be dumb to ask, but do you make a crockpot? Early on you can very easily make meatballs with one meat item (including Monster Meat!) and three fruits/vegetables that will fill you up far more than the combined total of what you put in. Leaves a lot to be desired for Sanity and Health, but those don't seem like a big concern for you.

Grumpy
Didn't mean to imply that food was overly abundant in the early game there. It is a daily search for the first couple seasons. That's part of the fun...figuring out how to take limited supplies and develop a steady source of food.
Hugo M.
Do you know the koalefant? That cute, fluffy creature? Hunt him and kill him, he'll give you a good amont of meat.
VeryCoolCat
Day 1, get sticks and grass and enough flint to make a pickaxe picking up any food items on the way. Berries / Seeds / Carrots Day 2-4, Gold. Look for gold. Graveyards have gold lying in them or gold boulders get at least 12. Day 4-7, In this period you may be running out of food so spending half a day getting food is fine. Go back to the area you first spawned in and find a decent area to set up shop and place your first fire pit (the one that requires rocks), start chopping trees and now build your science machine, alchemy engine, chests . Plant about 12+ trees in a patch away from other flamable objects so you can burn them for charcoal. Build log armor, spear, hammer, AT LEAST one crock pot preferably 3 (since you have a fair amount of rocks). Once you have your camp started and some food to survive (butterfly muffins are easiest at this point if desperate). You should have the following gear at a minimum before doing this... Grass, Sticks, Log Armor, Spear, Shovel, Hammer.... Now Either: Search for Graves and dig them until you find gears preferably two, you can leave everything else dug up on the ground, kill any ghosts.or Search for Chess Pieces and lure one away to be killed for 2 gears. But doing either, if you find any pig heads hammer them and hopefully you should have found a marsh in the last few days. You should have at least 2 pieces of gold left over to build an ice box. Once this is all done, surviving should be guaranteed. Everything after is just to do extra or to make your surviving easier. Food is the obvious challenge however with an icebox rot doesn't become a real issue unless you have too much food.
Warburner
I servive by doin al tha things lik nut starvin in stuf. Now to be serious, it's basically what the others are saying. Try getting some bee boxes and if you're up too it and a Koalaphant track shows itself to you, try to track the beast down. The Koalaphants special truck will heal your hunger and health at a decent enough amount. (When cooked) I would also try avoiding battle when I don't have armour. (Unless you are confident on taking down say... a level 1 spider nest alone, or a level 3 spider nest OR boss with an army of pigs.

Cynical Cynicist
I find it challenging to actually starve... Berries and carrots should be enough to let you survive until winter, while you explore your map.
NewBorn
How does one servive? I'm not familiar with that word. Ok enough mocking sir... I clearly said at the bottom, I wasn't paying attention and as soon as I clicked post thread I noticed it was wrong, most forums allow you to change the title but even in advanced mode full editor it didn't let me, so I put it at the bottom as I knew many fail trolls will try and go off topic and try to boost their ego.. anyway, thanks for everyone who gave me some help and tips. TeoSS69
I don't want to look stupid, but why ?Assuming you're asking about the last part : Bacon&Eggs last longer than Honey Ham. That means you can carry them for longer while exploring, which is really important for Wolfie.

the truthseeker
It's best to let us know how long you can survive (and no joking on the type, since we've all done it once before, but only this time ) before you get into trouble? Are you getting stuck surviving before Winter, during winter or some time after winter? Specifically, what day range do you get into trouble? Now, once we get this, not only can we give you tips tailored to your difficulty, but I can also point you to survival guides that focus on your early/mid/late game needs. At the least, i strongly suggest getting drying racks, a crock pot and a birdcage (with a bird in it of course) so you can constantly use monster meat, healing foods, and sanity foods (Taffy/Pumpkin cookies;) as well as the exploring awesome foods (Bacon and Eggs/Jerky.) As noted, these foods last a long time and offer a lot for Wolfgang players. Plus they can be easily stacked for when you need to make him Mighty.
