How good is Woodie

So I went back to playing DS, and I was using Woddie after a couple of hundred days I moved on to a new world. I came to the conclusion that:

- Woddie is slightly good in begining, for chopping trees as werebeaver, but the problem is the debuffs you get when you de-transform. Everything is a huge problem, as in the beggining you wont probably have health regaining means, sanity regaining means, etc.  Also the annoying full moon transform.

- In mid game, you probably have a way to regen health, and hunger, sanity may be a problem. The full moons transform become usefull for hunting tier 2/3 spider dens, but the down side is if its winter you have the camp near your camp and wait to de-transform.

- Finally, in end game you will have means to counter the debuff, the full moon transform is just weighing you down, especialy in caves with the random "enter cave and transform thing".

- Noting that the werebeaver has Tenticle Spike dammage and has defence of a log suit I think, (-20 log meter things on hit from a treeguard).

What do you guys think of Woodie?

hes alright but when a bad thing happens everything goes wrong eg:

I got killed by the mactusk bug got revived by a touchstone i forgot about died again, got revived at my base as a werebeaver and deerclops attacked

along with that the were beaver mode will begin to get on your nerves after a while

What I do with Woodie :

Keeps chopping trees

Becomes werebeaver

Kill animals and monsters and eat back logs to regain Log meter

Find a Tallbird group

Kill all of them ( I'm not cruel, they're just being jerks )

And keeps eating logs to regain log meter

Become werebeaver for the rest of my life

Replying to your topic, I only like him because of his Werebeaver,

Yeah, you have to in early game pre-plan sanity regaining items before the full moon, and (if possible) place it somewhere you know you can easily get to it (if you simply can't go back to your inventory when post-beaver.) Then again, it's awesome to be able to kick the werepigs' butts on that night as well.

In mid game, one can just craft a few crock pot recipes (Taffy, Pumpkin cookies) to have waiting when finished along with green mushrooms and flowers and hats/vests. Same with late game, but you'll likely have many items that are regenerating your sanity wearable and simply have to remember to pay attention to the moon cycle days whether above or below ground.

After Wilson, Woodie is my favorite character.  He's fun, but I also think he can be very frustrating, and challenging.  The full moon transformation tends to happen at inconvenient times and will eventually kill you, esp. underground.

Of the characters I've played to some extent (I have never played a game with Wolfgang, Wes, or Maxwell), I think he's the most difficult.

Werebeaver is an amazing power but its only practical use is killing bosses or farming massive amounts of trees/boulders. If none of that is needed then it's super annoying.

If you keep eating and replanting trees in the same place you could probably live forever, though.

edit: oh and eating up graves. Funny story: one time I found that boon with all the developer headstones. Dug them all up, and then werebeaver wore off after about 30 ghost spawned. As the animation finished, all of the ghost piled on top of me and I was insta-killed lol
