Ideas That Can Be Added To Don't Starve

Recommended Posts

1). A good idea to be added to Dont Starve is boats.
Can simplify traveling to different places and reduce how much time it takes to explore your map.
2). A home for Wilson and the other characters that can be built, and also destroyed by hounds and other mobs.
3).More science less magic. What I mean by that is things like maybe a plane, spaceship, satalite that can explore the map for you.
4). Scuba diving gear, for exploring the ocean and also a harpoon to catch fish.
5). Place Set. You can mark certain spots on the map that you like or find useful. And teleport there with a wand made for teleporting yourself. Does lower sanity and health.
6).Sharks.
7). Chickens
8) Cows
9). A home for those farm animals
10). Bird cages that allow more than 2 birds. The Birds can mate in there can create eggs that can be cooked or wait for them to hatch.
11). Adding Dawn how the day and night work. during dawn time you can explore but there is risk of monster outside still.

If any of the developers sees this and like any of my ideas please contact me :-)

Hope you all like some of my ideas, they are not perfect but some can be very useful

Actually the suggestion 5 already exists. You just need the Telelocator Focus and Staff, and it also appears in the map...

I agree with the idea of more science than magic. Maybe some structure than can use the energy of the lightning rod for transport or protection...

1. Travel is easy as it is with the cane and Lazy Explorer. No need for boats.

2. Bases are good enough.

3. There's 74 science item and 31 magic (including ancient) items

4. Maybe a DLC

5. Already in the game.

6. See number 4

7. We already have birds.

8. We already have beefalo

9. We can already make pens

10. Birds already make eggs.

11. There's a mod for that.

I agree

Lighting rod has so many possibility to create new content

klei is probably going to make a update based around harnessing the lighting rods electricity to make new items maybe a lighting rod or we can create our OWN clockworks Like a clockwork queen and a clockwork king and clockwork pawn.

Lazy explorer takes sanity, boats are for exploring nothing more. For the beefalo its not a domestic farm animal what i mean by cows is that you can feed them and they wont leave, same as for chickens. For science most of the stuff is not that useful, and as for magic most of the wands take sanity, which is a setback, and cant be used more than 3-4 times with out losing your mind or dying. For science things a wood plane that can fly wood be amazing, (powered by charcoal) can reduce traveling. Bases take long to make a house takes lots of supplies but plays it roll well in keeping you alive. @Senior Strongman

1. One of the better aspects of Don't Starve is exploring the land, and passing by danger and stuff. Boats would almost nullify that, and who wants to make a more fun part of the game last less long? If anything, exploring should be elongated.

2. Eh... I don't think so. How would these houses work? Like a pig house, where Wilson just stands in a cramped area for awhile? Or like a whole new region, like the caves? Both of these ideas I don't like, so unless you were thinking of something else... then no.

3.This. Yes.

4. Doubtful. Do we really need a new way to catch fish? I think not, but just my opinion.

5. As said before, this exists.

6. Well... I'm pretty sure this is tied into number three. If a whole new undersea world is created, then sharks should most definitely play a role. But I doubt that will happen unless, as Teo said, it appears in the DLC.

7/8. A theme of Don't Starve is how foreign the land feels to the player. Having recognizable mobs would kind of defeat the purpose. I mean, what creatures in Don't Starve also appear irl? Rabbits were originally Jackaloupes, so that doesn't really count. Spiders are the most realistic mob in Don't Starve, and even those are giant and not very realistic.

9. Same as number two. How would it work structurally? I would imagine a giant wooden pen, but you can just build that yourself with walls. Elaborate on this.

10. Interesting point, but useless in the end. Having bird eggs that can hatch into birds would be pretty cool, but what would that achieve? An extra bird cage? A morsel?

11. Sure. It's not a bad idea. But Teo said there's a mod, so...

I just though of this, If you havent noticed the map seems a bit 'flat' an idea is that they should add hills, moutains, cliffs etc. It would add a more natural enviorment to the game, also a place like an amazon with a river going through it, would give the game a less flat feeling to it.

@Senior Strongman You obviously know best huh?

well it wouldent fit the style of dont starve you know what i mean its about traveling on foot and exploring not that much advancment but just enough to make it interesting

To be fair, "science items" as you've counted them include such technical marvels as "shovel", "sign" and "hay wall"... very few game items are actually "science-y" and fewer still are actually useful (e.g. rainometer). The Tier 1 "Science" crafting items are really just put behind the science machine to restrict access a little, not because they're actually science related.

Science is for survival, magic is for general mayhem, Pretty ok with that.

Well shovels, walls and constructing with wood do fall into "technology" which is a science-y word.

Most of these suggestions...... are 4/10 or less, I mean, less dangerous exploring, LESS magic mayhem, the game is the 19/20th centuries MAX. no high tech, some Workshop or DLC in here, No no no... This won't do at all, and some of these are in the game (eggs and beefalo)
