destroying the wormwood fan chain, tbh i dont feel like the paid DLC characters will fit in, as seen in the trailer there were planted seeds in the ground without any wormwood seen on the screen, unless they give him a new gimmick with plants.

I do think some cast mates won't make the cut and that Wormwood would make sense to cut but the reasons you stated don't really apply not to be mean.

Wormwood was also a paid character in ds but got ported to dst.

Despite popular belief Wormwood has never been farmer as core to his character. Yes he has perks that make farming easier but he's always leaned closer to a combat based character just not in the traditional sense. His bramble husks and bramble traps have always pointed towards this as has his ability to generate living logs for easy dark swords but beyond that he's also been a character who has benefited from his decent relationship with plants and while that isn't as well expressed in dst compared to Hamlet it did come up here as well via, weeds, the sea flowers, and even lure plants.

They could remove his farming abilities entirely and he's still a well rounded character with good upsides and downsides and this is all without including any of the changes skill trees added to him.

In my opinion if they were to give anyone the boot it would likely be Wortox, Wurt, and Wanda. Not because I have any issues with them but because they have no real significance to the story.

I love Wurt but she has no reason to leave with the survivors even if she wants to learn more if she gets stranded away from her family that knowledge is probably gonna end up useless.

Wortox is a free spirit he could easily be written out of the story by saying he got bored of the constant and went some place else.

Wanda...yeah I don't know from what I remember she has no significant relationship with any of the other survivors nor absolutely any real lore from the entirety of her existence beyond shadows were hunting her but that hasn't come back up ever.

As for Wormwood if the lunar side continues in the next game it would make sense for him to be there as he's essentially the Maxwell of lunar side and if skill trees are actually canon to the story him being able to summon creatures via the moon's blessing and being their guardian could have some dark consequences. There was already a implication that Maxwell may betray the survivors in his refresh and if it does end up going through whose to say Wormwood might not eventually do the same. He could end up unplayable in the next game but due to lore specifically not from being cut.

Yeah, just going to retire and focus on DSE. I don't like annoying people and it seems my preferences keep going towards the minority of the player base.

Regardless of what you think of the bosses, of all times it makes sense for them to add a boss here. Because Yk it’s the final boss for the shadow arc

Wormwood and Wurt actually make a lot of sense for me.

Wormwood there is plants which is versatile, and he is the farmer guy.

Wurt doesnt even need her merms, the place has so much water and merm lore related stuff.

i mean wormwood is a great character in dst but i couldnt imagine seeing him in dse, we shouldnt judge so quickly tho since the only information we got about the game is the trailer

I just don't see it what would be her motivation? From day one her goal has been advancing merms you take that away and what is her purpose?

Also this is less talked about but say they took merms away from her what becomes her gameplay identity? Unlike Wormwood her other aspects aren't really too fleshed out without merms and the merm king. People often just look at it from just a power angle but without merms she loses her trades with the merm king, she loses her workforce, and she loses her ability to allow other players to interact with merms via the clever disguise. On a more minor note she'd also lose her endearing interaction where merms who aren't followers will act to defend her if she gets harmed(this one is just a personal thing but it's so neat). Her remaining traits are not negatively effected by wetness, likes fish though they'd probably have little use due to the lack of merms, doesn't drop what she's holding, and gains bonus hunger from fruits and veg. That's really not much like they could include her mosquito crafts but what else would you really do for her? She's a character about community rather than having powers like the other survivors.

If you want to get technical, DST is an older Xbox One & PS4 game, it would be very weird for a next Gen DS game to have LESS playable characters then its last Gen counter-part. But I guess we will have to wait and see. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also I 100% agree, the games “Finale” should be a big and epic boss fight, maybe even a fight that utilizes aspects of all previous fights that came before it. To truly make it the final final boss. 😎

But if Klei ever adds a boss BEYOND that, then older bosses should be made weaker so reaching the newer ones become easier. (My opinion I’m entitled to it.)

DST is a PC game, DSE will be a PC game. The console ports don't change that.

Also, fighting games do release all the time with less characters than the previous installment.

Mario Kart World also released with less tracks than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

This is pretty par for the course. When you need to make a sequel to a live-service game, the sequel is basically guaranteed to release with less content than the prequel, because the prequel had years of content released over time, and the sequel can't simply have all that at launch.

Klei, I have a request, can you change the code for spawning Lunarrifts crystals, because they spawn too evenly and unnaturally, and also the area of the lunar soil appearance area itself is perfectly even and looks very artificial, as if unfinished, I think it would be good if there was more chaos in this

sorry for the incompetent spitting but I think it would be better this way:

I think she will be just like that, because she can travel not only in time but also in space, as we were already shown when she ran away with Wilson, and also if you pay attention to her quotes when she looks at the characters, it becomes clear that she is familiar with them personally, because for example, she says to Wormwood "you have become even greener since our last meeting", and to Walter she generally says "why are you looking at my hands like that", which is strange and I think they are somehow connected, so I think that Wanda has reasons for appearing in the next game

and I also have an idea that if Wormwood received the lunar effect of sanity, he could react to objects or beings as if he were a lunar being, that is, he would talk about things as if he were familiar with the nature of the moon, and when he returned to his normal mind, it was as if he forgot his origins again and became a naive child again.

I hope there will be some news on Dread Pilots, right now it seems to have been abandoned, all things considered

Fittingly, the trailer advertised this as from the Griftlands team, a game that also went radio silent after missing its inital deadline.

I do hope everything is okay. I love Griftlands and Dread Pilots seems to be taking place in the same setting.:wilson_cry:

i mean that dont mean alot, there were only 4 characters be shown at all during it

wilson because mr dontstarve
willow because ms dontstarve
wendy because unreasonable amount of fanbase (i still dont know why this character got such a big fanbase)
wx because skill tree

That's unlikely, even if it is coincidental.

then do you have a better explanation? if anything wolfgang would made more sense as he is character 3, yet they choose wx

Suppose its  because of the whole puppet motif they have going on.

DSE seems to have goats in it, who were merms before they were cursed by the Gnaw. In the trailer, we see one knock Wilson away not wanting him to ruin their fire. We also see more aggressive goat-creatures, namely the one that rams Wilson off a cliff.

I think Wurt can have plenty of interactions and new traits visiting an area where the goats seem to be unaffected by the Merm curse. Whether they pity her and allow her to interact with them in ways other characters can't, or they hate her and treat her with increased hostility.

The goats were also part of a huge cooking event, the kinds of dishes you were allowed to cook during the Gorge event trumped the complexity of every dish in the crock pot; instead of being a battle-character where she leads merms into battle, she could instead act her own age and be taken care of by the goats who can cook meals for her and help her out in various ways.

Although you might argue this would make her a new character and closer to Wilba which I would agree with.

and to Walter she generally says "why are you looking at my hands like that"

oo this is because of one of Walter's stories!

Hook-hand Man Story

"Alright, so there's this guy..."
"and he has a hook for a hand!"
"But wait,"
"shoot..."
"you're not supposed to know that yet..."
"let me start over."
"So there's this guy,"
"and he lives way out deep in the woods,"
"making clocks."
"They say that he has a clock"
"for every one of his victims..."
"stopped at the exact time they take their last breath."
"You'll know he's coming when you hear the"
"click... click... click..."
"of his hook hand tapping on his watch..."
"to let you know your time is up!"
"...But don't worry, the hook man can't get you out here!"
"The only things in this forest are Beargers and Moosegoose"
"and Hounds and Dragonflies and Treeguards..."
