Honestly? You haven’t missed much, and this go double true if you have yet to reach and unlock rifts, most of the newer updates have focused exclusively on late game rift content.. leaving everyone else, pun intended to starve for new content ;)

ofc instead of adding new biomes or qol / etc

I can understand the biome thing somewhat, but you have to be doing Sans Undertale levels of dodging to somehow miss all of the QOL they have added in the last 4 years.

For OP, the main thing that has primarily gone down is an update arc dubbed From Beyond. While it primarily focuses on the endgame side of things (as in the fuelweaver/celestial champion are now stepping stones to access this content) , a number of tweaks/additions have been added for the early game side as well. The most noteworthy additions are the new bosses added, a significant chunk of the characters have skilltrees now, various QOL additions (things like drying racks having 3 slots compared to 1, you can now prototype the glass cutter/axe from the lunar altar, rot now clears up during rainfall, grinding moonstorms is now significantly less tedious, etc.) and various merchant-characters like the wandering trader/rabbit king are present in the world.

There's definitely a lot to tackle with, especially later on, though the early game is unchanged enough that unless you were using rabbits in any capacity, you should be able to relearn the ropes and understand the basics before you tackle the new content/challenges awaiting you, and probably be amused by various differences they have made in a positive way!

They patched the lure plant cheese and I still haven't gotten over it.

why? the cheese is way to easy to do and requires pratically little to no resouces at all , unlike other cheese in general

Because it was the perfect option for people who just wanted to skip Fuelweaver entirely while not being locked out of the content he gatekeeps.

i think of cheese as a way for a player to pay the "toll price" in a different way, some people like to pay it with skills( beating afw in a hand to hand combat through hard kiting patterns that are never used in other place in the game),

and some people that cant multitask would choose to cheese afw like making explosives to two shot him or advance though the lunar rift to get lunar rift gear to smush afw to death with the bright shade staff by holding f infront of it.

or their character already possess above average wilson combat to negate most afw threats( aoe, teleport, army)

or super late game dreadstone walls that traps afw

all of the "cheese" i said are harder to set up then just placing a lure plant to make afw unable move, the game already provides ways to kill afw with less skills but with more prep.

In four years, we've had the introduction of a new arc called "From Beyond." There are many things in general, such as the introduction of a skill tree system for characters, new planar damage and defense mechanics (including new weapons and armor for this purpose, which can be repaired with kits), improved ocean navigation with a teleportation system (Frostjaw boss) and greater protection for the boat (loot from the new Crab King). The Surprising Seed was added to the ocean QOL, allowing for gem farming and night vision. A new biome was added to the caves with stone trees. Chests now have infinite storage (Elastispacer). Tamed Beefalos can be resurrected (Beefalo Gloom Bell). The Pearl brought a new quality of life to the gameplay. And there's much more for you to enjoy.

Skill Trees are a thing.

More bosses were added.

Ocean feels less empty.

Geometric Placement is baseline to the game.

And uhn... More stuff, but I think those are the most important ones.

I was gonna say they added the ocean....... What do you mean it's been over 4 years........

there are new skins for berry bushes and pearl's belongings, there are new trees for caves and for the ocean, there are many new leafymeat dishes, i'm not sure if you were there before or after wanda was introduced as a new character, there is a new point-of-interest boon for hallows-eve and for winter's feast, the ui for finding and building things has changed, the recipes for more than a dozen things have been changed to be more in-line with resource availability and user expectations. there are now enemy sloops on the ocean. there is a new universal transformation mechanic, several characters have been reworked to be more useful in group-play. there is a new mechanic for greatly upping the difficulty of an existing world(which comes with new loot, new(ish) enemies and a lot more danger), there is a new mushroom type, there are three shop-keeper npcs, opals now have a use outside of being a staff component, you can play cards in-game at your leisure, there is a huge hole in the ocean, boats can rotate now! uuuuum, oh! and lureplant cheeseing is just not a thing for bosses anymore

Basically a ton of things changed from early to late game and it'll take a lot of exploration to see the differences. A bunch of new content at sea, new threats on land like otters who will steal things or the rabbit king who punishes you for crimes against rabbits or allows you to trade for convenience items like portable storage, costs of things have been reduced or in some cases cost efficiencies, we have a wandering trader you can exchange items with. New types of plants and crockpot dishes etc. There's a ton of new changes that are too many to fully cover so I just recommend finding things as you go.

Oh wait hold on I forgot the most fun one: they added a working Baltaro machine into DST you’ll just find it randomly somewhere in your game world and yes you can play rounds of Baltaro on it to be rewarded with all sorts of useful (& not so useful.. ;)) supplies & prizes.

I never in my life would have imagined that DST would get Poker, Solitarie or Blackjack but with a fully functional deck of cards: here we are now.

silly reworks, silly skill trees,

THE MOOOOOON!!!
and its corouption on some bit of the world after a certain someone messing about it

bosse...like.....more bosse

ocean? monkey? maybe even a whirlpool somewhere?

alaskan bull worm

let the darkness consume your soul...
there bit red too....OH YEA

another cave biome and LORE we love LORE dont we?

oh yea uhm, you know of wanda i think that was in 4 year too right?

pearl eviction

funny old man dies after a certain event

MORE LORE

maybe look at the settings menu and maybe see something new

caves empty , ocean empty , even overworld is kinda boring without new stuff , ignoring the shadow side, ignoring the skilltrees ( at least finish what u started before working on some useless roleplaying updates thats no one cares abt ) .

how to fix these ? add a hot pond and some random teas for roleplayers yes thats the solution

Dude, you need to pause and take a step back. You know they have added aspects to several areas of the game, even to ones you have mentioned, in the last 4 years. Its disingenuous to pretend they haven’t.

If you want to pretend the Evil discord roleplayers are causing the game to be bad, then I can’t stop you, but know I’m not going to take you seriously, and I imagine others won’t either.

what does he even mean by that?

Basically, that user sees no utility in Pearl's teleporter or the large drying rack, or in an easier source of salt or anything of the sort, so they automatically assume that nobody sees any use in those features and that they only think of Pearl as a cool thingy for roleplayers who want to roleplay as Pearl's friend.

... As in, ragebait post.
