Don't Starve Boardgame passed $1.5million dollars on Kickstarter in the first day

I think if the pushback is strong enough klei may make these available at some point. Just like the plushie skins.

this makes me wonder, are the in-game skins finished, and are they just going to chill in the game files until 2027? I'm more excited about the fun collectibles and hadn't really thought of the skin stuff!

I have some friends who were interested in the boardgame, but didn't like the video game. I'm getting it for them as a gift, but it will leave me with some extra skin codes for some characters. I don't want to be a skin scalper, so when the time comes, I'll probably do a giveaway on the forums. Make sure you are active in 2027 if you are interested

... and it is for a game that hasn't even been released yet and whose crowdfunding campaign already paid for its development a few times over.

Everything about this campaign is backwards, convoluted and in most part scummy. "Make sure to pledge at least 60 $ now and in order to receive free things later but please note that you won't be able to see your eligibility for said items until later - simply trust us for now and keep giving us your money".

I scaled back on my pledge and went down to the cheapest standard version and even that I am still on the fence tbh, I will give it all the time until 23rd to consider all options. So far after adding VAT and shipping the cost really piles up.

Shipping itself fills me with concern as I see a lot of complaints about broken boxes on their previous projects so there's that too.

Also Frostpunk is now available in online shops and the basic version is in fact cheaper than the basic pledge they had for it of $79. $79 plus $10 for shipping which is a minimum and on top of that 23% tax brings it to 109, 47 USD. Frostpunk can be bough now for $96 without any shipping costs or additional taxes (in the shop I checked in Poland).

So I am leaning towards just cancelling my pledge and waiting for the game to be in shops but sadly it's the Wolfgang addon and Constant Curiosities that are keeping me hooked, I'm a weakling 🫠

The expansions or add-ons? Characters in expansions come with everything needed to play as them in the board game. Add-ons only come with the decorative pieces.

For example, getting Woodie from an add-on only comes with a woodie figure. Getting the expansion comes with the figure, character cards, and items which are required for gameplay

Technically the base game is $80 and the most expensive expansion, Cave Calamities, is $55 so that's 70% of the price of the game. All the expansions together cost $200, 2.5x the price of the game, bringing it up from $80 to $280.

Wait I’m a bit confused, I pledged the max amount. Deluxe I think it was called or something idk I just assumed the highest suggested donation would give me everything. Is that not the case?

You get skins for the characters you can play as in the board game. If you don't buy the expansion with the character skin you want, you don't get the skin for that character.

There will be a late pledge option through Pledge Manager, dates tba. After that, it seems likely that skins will be included with retail version, but afaik it hasn't been confirmed. Notice that the Walter stretch goal rewards (included with all core box pledges) are marked as "GCU limited", which seemingly excludes them from retail.

No. When the campaign opened, only a few of the planned game components were announced. As of now, these are the announced gameplay components:

• The core box, in standard and deluxe variants. The difference is that the deluxe version also includes unpainted miniatures.
• The Lands Uncharted expansion, with either acrylics or miniatures for the monsters.
• The Reign of Giants expansion, including Wigfrid, with either acrylics or miniatures for the monsters and Wigfrid.
• The Cave Calamities expansion, including Wortox and Wormwood, with either acrylics or miniatures for the monsters and characters.
• The Character Pack #1, Winona and Woodie, with either acrylics or miniatures.
• The Character Pack #2, WX-78 and Wickerbottom, with either acrylics or miniatures.
• The Constant Curiosities "mini expansion", which is free for people who followed the campaign before it started. Eligibility can't be checked through Kickstarter, it will show up in the Pledge Manager.
• The Muscle Madness "mini expansion", the Wolfgang character pack, which is free for those who backed the campaign in the first 3 days. Eligibility can't be checked through Kickstarter, it will show up in the Pledge Manager.

(i'm coping that because Warly lost the vote, klei might realize how unpopular he is and grant him a gourmet skill-tree next year...  )
