Sure, you get away Like, normal players, but just about Every Megabaser Ever cares about base aesthetics. It sucks when you are forced to build in a particular way to avoid a mechanic, so most bases end up having the exact same style because it’s the only way to prevent it. It’s why I really don’t like how you’re forced to keep sproutrocks/gloomthorns on either rocky/marsh turf to keep getting the fruits from them.

Yeah man. I was hoping you could get away with replacing the turf underneath them but no, devs went out of their way to ensure that the turf stays rocky/swampy to continue getting fruit from them. I don't get it why since every other plant in the game continues bringing fruit no matter on what turf it grows. You already take a year to grow exotic trees, why would it matter after that to force us to keep the ugly turf underneath those trees? I see it as artificially limiting player creativity. I would love to grow sproutrocks at least on cave rock turf which looks million times better than default rocky turf.

I have met like a total of... uhhh two DST players who actively encouraged chaos and nomad playstyle, and made the base as minimal and ugly as they could on purpose. The rest of the players I played with built bases and cared about their aesthetics even a little bit. There's a whole thread here on the forums with people constantly sharing their base designs and decorations.

Without comprehensive statistics, none of us players can definitively prove 'how many players care about base aesthetics.one thing is clear: the developers keep releasing more and more base construction skins. This alone shows they shouldn't ignore the demand for base customization

So the farming area is something most players will inevitably build, right? Who would want such an essential area to be limited to such hideous turf options—even if they're not base decoration experts?

The people who invest the most time in the game are the ones who do megabuilds and are probably the ones who spend the most money on item skins that others don't care about, since cosmetics matter to them. I can't quantify this player profile, but they are quite relevant to Klei.

YESSSS, FINALLY! This'll be perfect for Willow's ember farming areas. Just place a bunch of them in an area with spiders and have fun! Also great for putting beneath your berry bushes and stuff for summer!

We shouldn't give special treatment for people who pay for skins. Just because people pay klei money, doesn't mean they get the right to voice their opinions. I think that people who spend money on the game should just be grateful that they have the privilege to pay the game. 

Klei doesn't need people who buy skins. Buying the game is far more effective.

 

Fire is a challenge! The skins buyers should just adapt or play another game if they're don't like it lol.

It might be good to add new crafting using "Scaled Flooring" with the turf we currently have, as a fireproof variable, for example "Grass Turf" + "Scaled Flooring" = "Fireproof Grass Turf"
and I could keep the exact same texture, but with the property that the fire won't spread. That way we could continue using the same turf we want to decorate our bases.
It's just an idea.

Just because you think it is an ugly turf does not mean it is in everybody's eyes. The world doesn't revolve around your personal opinion on what looks good and what doesn't.

That's why it should be given people multiple choices for their aesthetic. I'm embarrassed to be self-promoting, but I just started a thread about it.

Didn't I objectively present the before-and-after comparisons for everyone's reference? And how many players can YOU actually represent?

It's just an idea. 

 

This is an excellent idea. I would love it with all turf types, and as a similar idea of a craft: cobblestone turf +any other turf = speedy tiles with different skins for more design options. I would love to use other turfs for roads in different areas but have the speed bonus.

That's how it used to work already, so is the wording incorrect or what's change exactly?
