At the moment the game is sorely lacking a good teleportation option for all characters, because telelocator focuses consume 3.4 (3 inserted and consumed from the focus, 2 (purple gems for a telelocator staff) / 5 (amount of telelocator staff uses) = 0.4 per telelocator use) purple gems per use. They're also very inconvenient to use for more than 2 destinations, requiring you to set up extremely precise networks like how people do that with winona's telepads. I suggest to make them consume only 1 gem per teleport, or perhaps even only half a gem, with 1 of the gems showing cracks after the 1st use and breaking after the 2nd, and to allow selecting a telelocator focus to teleport to on the map after using the staff, like how winona can select a wormhole to teleport to

Some may say that this would devalue the teleportation perks of some characters, such as wortox, wanda and winona, but it wouldn't, as they still have advantages even over this hypothetical version of telelocator focuses, those being lack of setup + very cheap cost in case of wortox and no cost at all after the setup in case of wanda and winona, as well as that all of those characters can teleport in caves unlike players using a telelocator staff.

Perhaps there could also be some late game upgrade for telelocator that could reduce the cost (or possibly even fully remove it) and make it work in caves. It could be dropped by the final boss of the shadow rift.

This is the one in particular that I desire in the endgame. There could be no other buffs to the focus except for this and I would still be very pleased. Being able to setup precision teleports and go there anywhere with the staff would be a huge boon in the endgame.

I would also dig this a lot. It would give a very solid reason to finish the shadow questline and have incentive to repeat the fight a lot so you can get several teleports to various areas on the map.

Precise teleports are technically already possible, see video:

It's just they are even more precise than with winona's telepads. Telebrella ignores telepads within 1/2 of a tile from you, while telelocator staff only ignores focuses within 1/4 of a tile from you. And you still need to place them extremely precisely like winona's pads if you want to use more than 2.

(sorry if i just misunderstood and by "precise teleports" you meant selecting on the map rather than this, thought i'd clarify just in case)

I moreso meant being able to place them wherever you want instead of being restricted to rough estimates in order to keep the network unbroken, though I had no idea the focus had to be even more precise than the telepads, so that’s a beat bit of trivia!

This would actually be tragic as the reward for finishing the shadow line, as you said some characters do already have teleportation in their kit, so this reward would not benefit them at all.

We're very likely to get multiple drops anyway, warbot has jewels + terramites, CC has crown + the billion crafts that require enlightened shards, FW has helm + armor + thurible etc.

I think they should allow celestial jewels to be placed in the gem slots of the Telelocator Focus: the jewels wouldn't be consumed with teleports. If you place just one or two, the focus would consume fewer gems per use, and if you place all three, it would no longer consume any gems at all.

It would still cost the use of the Telelocator Staff, so the teleport wouldn't be entirely free, but this change would give celestial jewels another late-game purpose and provide an incentive to collect more than five per player. It would also encourage continued use of purple gems and living logs, which have little use in the late game.

For cave teleportation, a new item from the shadow side could be introduced to keep things separated.
IMO this wouldn't devalue personal teleportation abilities, as those would still be cheaper per use, available earlier, and much less grindy to setup on a large scale.

klei made it so you cant place telelocator focus on boats because you could teleport deerclops or any boss and then sink them for an easy kill, but later they made it so bosses just respawn at the shore when they sink, but the focus restriction on boats is still there for some reason

also the main problem with focus is:

1. you cant have more than 2 focus unless you do this:

Klei didn't want to give us 1 purple gem costed telelocate, but the community never gave up
