Before recording this video, I hesitated about whether to post it on the forums. According to my group members, if you share certain so-called "game mechanics" on the forums, the developers may treat them as bugs and fix them. This is because they have a relatively shallow understanding of the game and are unlikely to consider how interesting these mechanics might be. Instead, they adjust things based on their instincts and difficulty levels, without realizing how much joy we felt when discovering these mechanics—how many hours we spent testing, how much original code we combed through. To them, this is just work...

And after these so-called "fixes," part of the forum community will defend the developers, insisting that these changes are "reasonable." They won't consider how much time and effort Chinese players spent discovering these mechanics, how much code they read, or how happy they were when they found something new...

I think this argument makes sense to some extent, but I believe that communication can resolve 99% of problems. I think the developers simply have a limited understanding of the game, and due to language barriers, they are unaware that certain mechanics have already become habits in the Chinese player community. However, I believe that communication is possible.

Let me introduce myself first—I am a long-term save file player who enjoys building various "factories." These so-called factories are constructed by selecting useful mechanics from the game and using them to create setups that benefit players. I love the game's diverse and colorful mechanics and do not want to see them "fixed."

So, rather than waiting for some uninformed player to report these mechanics as "bugs" in the future—leading the developers to remove them due to their limited understanding—or waiting for some inexplicable future update to gradually destroy unknown mechanics, I might as well release my videos and articles now to communicate with the developers. I suspect that many interesting game mechanics are still unknown to the developers.

Please note: Some of the discoveries in the video were made by deep-dive players who understand the game’s code. They tested extensively and spent a lot of time uncovering these mechanics, which brought them joy. However, due to the unfriendly environment on the forums, they hesitate to share their findings and only post them within Chinese communities...

I will use videos and written explanations to introduce you to some mechanics that you may not be aware of.

Additional Note: Everything shown in the video is achievable in the base game. Since these saves are no longer actively played, I enabled creative mode to construct certain things and make the save file flawless. I believe people can learn a lot from these videos, and I will explain everything one by one.

How to create a safe, bee-free honey harvesting environment:

As I demonstrated in my video, you can exile the bees to a place that no one will ever visit, and then bring the boat back to shore (here’s a little trick: if you throw Bootleg Getaway along a diagonal, you’ll instantly reach your destination). Then, plant a flower by the shore, and these Bee Boxes will start producing honey naturally. The principle behind this is:

The Bee Box will enter a 300-second honey production countdown when the following conditions are met:

  1. It is not winter.

  2. There is at least one Flower or Evil Flower within a 30-tile radius of the Bee Box.

  3. There is at least one bee belonging to that Bee Box, whether inside or outside the Bee Box.

  4. When the countdown ends, 1 honey will be added to the Bee Box.

  5. The honey production countdown will pause when the player loads the Bee Box or leaves during the day.

  6. The countdown will resume when the player leaves the Bee Box or enters the daytime.

  7. When honey production is paused, the previous progress will be saved, and when the Bee Box starts producing honey again, it will continue accumulating from where it left off.

  8. If honey production is triggered twice in a row, the countdown will be reset.

This principle is taken from the Chinese wiki. By the way, honey production occurs naturally over time, so I used time-jumping codes in my video to speed it up, which is why it didn't appear in real time.

How to obtain a large amount of Foliage, Lesser Glow Berry, and Light Bulb:

By rotating the boat, you can provide more plant survival space. Then, use Maxwell's Shadow Servant to collect them like crazy. Of course, you can also use the Shadow Reaper to help (though it's generally not used). The amount you can gather depends on how much time it is dark (this is relatively simple to understand).

How to obtain a large amount of ice:

I believe the basic principle should be easy to understand. By using the Ice Flingomatic to offset snowball freezing and utilizing pillows with zero attack power (this is an item from the Rabbit Year event; if you don't want to use it, you can use Walter's non-damaging bullets, but you may need someone else to help mine the ice), you can reset Frostjaw’s skill and place ice walls infinitely. Then, use Maxwell’s Shadow Servant to collect the ice blocks.

How to bring Frostjaw to the shore (don’t worry, it will respawn normally at the Ice Fishing Hole after being killed,"Of course, if you’d like, you could also keep it as a cute pet!"):

How to obtain a large gathering of sea fish:

This Hound is summoned by Varg (the Hound on the shore prevents the dogs from getting onto the shore). It keeps walking in a specific direction because that’s where Varg is located. Why choose Varg’s Hound? That’s because the Hound from the Dog King won’t target you if you’re too far away—it won’t attack you unless it’s close enough. The Hound only wants to return to Varg. By using the Hound to drive the fish, you can gather the summoned fish schools in one spot. Using the Strident Trident to blast the fish onto the shore will gather them at the same point, making it easier to collect. Of course, you can also use a Cannon or Winona's Catapult (before the Cannon was modified, you could rely on the Powder Monkey; this is from an old save of mine. The Powder Monkey's Cannon would shoot very precisely, and with the right angle, it could pass through the gap between two walls without damaging the walls. Unfortunately, that’s been changed now...).

How to obtain a large amount of Cut Grass and Twigs:

(The growth direction and location of the Lureplant's Eye Plant are related to the world's initial orientation, so you will need a Compass.) You can restrict the growth of the Eye Plant using Turfs, and you can limit the growth of other Deadly Brightshades by planting the initial Grass's Deadly Brightshade. Additionally, by using four Moonblind Crows, you can prevent natural bird drops (yes, the Moonblind Crows can occupy the space around the player where natural birds would normally spawn, and with four of them, no natural birds will spawn at all). Without natural bird drops, the Eye Plant will have more to eat. A single Carnivorous Plant can consume up to 560 items in total. You can calculate the specifics yourself, as I haven’t used this setup in a while. The unusable slot is Leafy Meat.

image.png

How to obtain a large amount of Stone Fruit:

By using a Mini Sign to restrict the growth location of the Eye Plant (please refer to the previous paragraph), and using Moonblind Crows to prevent natural bird drops from occupying the internal space of the Eye Plant, you can achieve this. Place four Bookcases with the Horticulture and Expanded books, and 15 Lureplants along with 15 Stone Fruit Bushes. Read all the Horticulture and Expanded books in the four Bookcases, which will take about a full day to fill up all the Lureplants. The total yield will be 7,794 Stone Fruits.(By the way, broken Wood Walls can also restrict the growth of the Eye Plant and the placement of structures. Just adding this as a supplement.)

I don't deny that you feel dissatisfied when game mechanics that they have discovered through their effort are interpreted as "exploits" or "bugs" and fixed, and say your opinions to not do so...I also feel the same way depending on the game mechanics and other factors.

But please don't too harshly blame the developers for doing that. They also work hard to meet everyone's expectations and are not doing this to players with any malicious intent. Also there is no need to refer to about "Chinese players" and "other players"... Those can't keep everyone from leading to conflicts of affiliation. I have always said the same thing to the forum residents for fairness.

You and all of your research results and opinions should be respected, but if you add comments that lack respect for others, others will no longer respect the results of efforts which should be respected. If you are being polite but someone attacks you, I don't mind you attacking them, but in the while it's not, I want us all to get along, including the Klei developers.

ahm...you do know your words were kind of...not nice towards the devs right? kind of insulting again with your "the devs dont know there game" like seriously, thats just not the way to do it, and in a way it sounds to me you have some sort of an superiority complex

it's cool that the community plays the game a lot and discovers new "mechanics" that are maybe unknown to Klei, i always enjoy watching something new and exciting. i have been using the wardrobe "mechanic" to have an easy moonstone event since forever, so i can definitely enjoy things that the community found out.

but saying that "the developers’ understanding of the game is simply too shallow" is also ignorant on your part. not every mechanic is intended and/or healthy for the game, meaning they should be fixed/changed. it's always better to have open discussions with everyone being civil and respectful, rather than playing the game in secret because you assume the scary developers will take away your toys.

also, i don't think the video function is working. can you upload the video to a platform like youtube instead?

I pretty much completely agree with the notion that the developers often misunderstand the value of their own work when it comes to player freedom and expression of creativity but please stop approaching this from the angle that it's somehow only the chinese community who plays the game like this

I personally think it’s due to the browser. You might be using Edge, and I’m not exactly sure why this browser can’t play the video. You can try using Google Chrome instead.

The following items are supplementary notes from much later: Since my personal reply is earlier, I’ve placed it here.:

Alright, I’ve finally explained every point from my 50-minute video. Now it’s time for me to say a few things. I used AI translation, usually writing a section first, then using the English terms from Wikipedia because AI can’t translate specialized terms. In the Chinese context, I didn’t think my opening statement was harsh or insulting. Of course, I’m not trying to explain anything further. I understand that in the English-speaking context, these words might be seen as insulting, but I don’t plan to argue about it or shift the responsibility to AI translation. If you think it’s insulting, then I have nothing more to say. At least I believe I’ve expressed myself clearly.

I, along with many other players, believe that the developers rarely play the game, which is why the quality of the recent updates has been poor. I’ve written this post from the early morning until now, 7 a.m. Today happens to be my day off, which is why I had so much time to stay up writing all these things. Of course, I’m not writing this to seek sympathy, just expressing my feelings. If you think I’m seeking sympathy, then I have nothing more to say.

I also mentioned in a previous post that a game needs to attract a diverse player base to make more money. This is a basic business principle, so please don’t impose your personal views of the game onto others. Why do I research factories and mechanisms? It’s because I want to play a long-term save, but I don’t have artistic talent to build beautiful and aesthetic buildings. So I do what I can. That’s a simple reason. And these things have come from various discussions and research, representing a group of people. This is also something I want to show the developers. Of course, there are many things I haven’t mentioned yet. I’ll talk about them when I have time, but for now, I’m tired.

Supplement: Seeing people speak up for me really makes me happy. I hope the developers can see all this...

I watched the whole thing and really liked some farms, but a few are definitely bugs and some others may not be bugs, but still feels like something the developers did not intend to happen or simply didn't think it'd be used that way

Quote

Some of the discoveries in the video come from deep players who understand code, who have studied the code and tested things to the limit. They spent a lot of time on it, and it made them happy. But the unfriendly forum environment has made them hesitant to share, so they only dare to post it in Chinese circles.

So you just abused the hell out of the game and be mad that they patch bugs. Also, the whole "we spent so much time inventing this farm" thing sounds stupid and childish, IT DOES NOT MATTER how much time you spent making a farm and how sad you will be if they fix it, if it abuses a bug then don't whine about it being fixed (I'm not saying everything should be fixed, but developers have every right to fix whatever glitch they want)

Respectfully, the majority of these farms 100% are based on bugs and exploits that are obviously unhealthy for the game. A large portion of the video is dedicated to just the exact same setup of dreadstone pillars + houndius being used to hold different bosses perfectly in place so they die automatically. That isn't a complex mechanic that the devs would misunderstand as a bug, that's a simple and clear exploit that would understandably get removed if attention is called to it.

Back in 2018 whenever the core game wasn't getting any updates, some friends and I discovered that it was possible to kill Moslings as they were hatching, and this would cause them to create new moose eggs that would never disappear. This meant that you could hatch those new eggs during summer, and cause the Moslings to spin and summon rain, so wildfires and the oasis storm would never happen.

Eventually, though, this got reported and fixed by the developers. Because me and my buddies didn't discover some intricate new mechanic that Klei had accidentally created, what we found was simply a piece of code that we could take advantage of not working properly. It would be unreasonable to treat that as Klei having misunderstood the depth of their game by fixing it, and it would be terribly inaccurate if I had gone to the forums and made a big post about how only me and my friend group were playing the game correctly, while everyone else had a shallow and limited understanding of the game.

How to automatically kill Celestial Champions with all characters:

You need to find three adjacent Celestial Fissures with some distance between them to place Reinforced Dreadstone Pillars. This will block the first and second phases of the Celestial Champion. As for the placement of Houndius Shootius, this explanation is a bit complex, but to simplify: the Celestial Champion's aggro range and active attack range are different, but this isn’t the key. Just place Houndius Shootius within its maximum attack range of 4.5 tiles, forming a circle around Mysterious Energy. If there are too few Houndius Shootius, the effect might not work as well.

(Here’s a small tip: You can quickly escape the area when you kill the Celestial Champion, for example, using Wortox’s Soul, Winona’s Portasol, or a Telelocator Staff. This allows you to create a state where it’s always dark when you return, giving you a way to accumulate a lot of night time.)

Of course, you can also use the Catapult method, but this requires you to lure the Celestial Champion to another location, as a fully built Lunar Siphonator will destroy all buildings within 4 tile units around it, along with 6 meteors that have destructive properties.

Specifically, you can place walls along the red line to affect the Celestial Champion's patrol mechanics. The image is from the mod's official website: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2928652892.

How to obtain a large amount of seeds:

You can place a W.I.N.bot in advance and use various items from the Midsummer Cawnival (like Hubbub for Grub) or Anenemy to limit the location where birds drop. The principle is: when there are fewer than two seeds around you, the birds will drop seeds. The purpose of the W.I.N.bot is to ensure that there are fewer than two seeds around you, so all the seeds get transported into the box. This way, you can obtain a large number of seeds. With this method, you'll be able to collect a lot of regular seeds (which can be used to craft a large amount of Horticulture, Expanded). Actually, the fastest way to get regular seeds is by giving sea fish to the King of the Merms, which is the quickest method. However, I generally prefer the method I just mentioned because it's the most convenient in all aspects.

Some mechanisms regarding Bramble Husk and Prime Mate:

(I believe most people can create a Krampus Factory, and this is an experiment I did. Clearly, the effect isn’t great, but I’ll mainly discuss some mechanisms.)

When you use a weapon (I’m using the zero-damage Mudslinger) to attack a Punching Bag wearing Brightshade Armor, you will take damage, which will trigger the Bramble Husk effect on you. When wearing the Brightshade Helm, you will be immune to the damage from the Brightshade Armor, and the durability of the Bramble Husk will not decrease. Instead, the durability of the Brightshade Helm will decrease (you won’t take damage, but it needs repairing). You can use this method to kill nearby birds.

We can teleport the Prime Mate to the shore and let it attack you. When its weapon durability is exhausted, the attack power of the Prime Mate becomes zero. After that, push it back onto the ship. Specifically, you can use a door to push it. The Prime Mate on the ship will have permanent aggro and zero damage. As long as you stay nearby, it will keep attacking. You can check the video below for more details on this application.

How to obtain a large amount of sea fish, seasonal fish, and a whale's horn:

On the map, if you're lucky, you might find a Swell Ocean surrounded by Coastal Ocean. Of course, most of the time, you might not find one, but you can try to find a concave Swell Ocean (I'm not sure if AI can translate this correctly). (As for the Clay Hound, I’m not sure how to explain it, let’s leave that for later. Its role is to drive away fish schools.)

Here comes a very important tip: You can place the Ocean Trawler Kit on the small grid of the Coastal Ocean's Turfs at position (1.1). This way, you can surround it with the Dock Kit. The Ocean Trawler Kit increases the chances of Gnarwail appearing, and the food inside the Ocean Trawler Kit can raise the probability even higher. So it’s recommended to use non-perishable food, such as Tallbird Eggs or, for a more expensive option, Mandrake.

How to obtain a large amount of Brightshade Husk:

I think this image doesn’t need much explanation, but there are some things I need to mention. Why do we need to surround it with Reinforced Dreadstone Pillars? The reason is that you can place a Telelocator Focus in the middle to teleport bosses you don't want to fight, like Bearger. However, teleporting him will destroy the Telelocator Focus.

Note the top-right corner: Dragon Fruit is not affected by fire and will not burn. Therefore, we can use Wormwood to plant Dragon Fruit seeds next to the Magma. Keep in mind that each seed needs to be spaced 3 wall units apart. This way, you will have the maximum number of Deadly Brightshade growing (a Magma can hold up to 3 Dragon Fruit). Deadly Brightshade will continue to grow even when players are not around. Over time, you will accumulate more and more Brightshade Husk.

image.png.9fd93d024dae13f87c9d06c4aad7527e.png

I don't think this needs much explanation. During the day, simply place some non-stackable, non-perishable food here. At night, the Pig Man will turn into a Werepig. The only thing worth mentioning is that the ship's position needs to be at the maximum distance, and you need a character with an acceleration buff to jump onto it. This prevents the Pig Man or Bunnyman from following you.

(This isn’t a big deal. If possible, you can use other methods, such as setting fires, which I believe everyone already knows.)

image.png.a7b0ac7881d2330821cb3c1ffe2a2ed4.png

How to obtain a large amount of Message in a Bottle, Bull Kelp Stalk, and Driftwood Piece:

In winter, you need to teleport all the Marotter Rafts to one location (this won’t work in other seasons, unless you can either kill all the Marotters or ensure they are all on the Marotter Raft, or you take all the Marotters to the same place). Then, create a setup like the one shown in the image.

Make sure to determine the Catapult's maximum range, as it will damage the Marotter Raft, and Marotter Rafts do not regenerate (I remember the developers once mentioned Marotter Rafts might regenerate, but it seems they haven't added this feature yet).

Here comes the most important tip: You can place buildings above destroyed walls (of course, you can also plant flowers). Place the Tin Fishin' Bin in the center, surrounded by four walls, and then repair the walls. If you feel it’s not enough, you can add more walls. Make sure to place fish inside beforehand so that the Marotters will be attracted to it and gather around. You can also place it inside the setup (Marotters have a small collision size, so if there are too many, they might squeeze inside the walls and eat the fish,By the way, they are primarily attracted to birds.).

The probability of getting a Message in a Bottle is 5%. You’ll get a large amount of Meat and Morsel. From Marotter Rafts, you’ll obtain Bull Kelp Stalk, Driftwood Piece, and other less important items.

How to quickly use the Moon Glass Saw Blade:

We all know that when using a Sawhorse to craft Cut Stone or Boards, there is a period of time where it can't be used. However, we can eliminate this delay by rotating the ship (note that each ship must have 3 Rudders, and the character must be close enough). This will allow us to use multiple Sawhorses at the same time, achieving a seamless crafting of Cut Stone or Boards (in the video, I am too far from the ship, but normally there is no cooldown).

You can place a Teletransport Station, an Elastispacer-upgraded Chest, and a W.I.N.bot underneath and next to this setup. I think by now, I don't need to explain much more. This setup can be used in conjunction with other factories.

image.png.ae37ae96642b8a88ffd6a01d6e4ff564.png

How to obtain a large amount of Tallbird Eggs and Meat:

I think this doesn’t need much explanation; raising Tallbirds is simple, but it requires time. I’ll just share a few tips here. Tallbird Eggs that are incubated on a ship won't hatch until they’re brought to the shore. So, you can incubate all Tallbird Eggs on the ship until they’re ready to hatch, and then use Portasol to teleport them all to the shore at once. This way, you can ensure that the hatching time for all the Tallbird Eggs is synchronized.

I planted over 300 Bull Kelps nearby (note that having too many Bull Kelps and this area not being visited for a long time can cause lag when entering the area, depending on your server).

Additionally, as shown in the image, the mechanism uses the Tallbird Egg’s patrol system, and they cannot hit a character more than three walls away.

image.png.a9355c8ac42cbf585a2c8754d0c5d229.png

There’s nothing much to explain here, just control the distance properly and don’t worry about other things. Some of these items were created in creative mode, as this save file is no longer being played. I usually conduct some experiments, for example, by leaving a single grid space in the Reinforced Dreadstone Pillar at the shore, you can trap one of Klaus’s No-Eyed Deer to the side.

image.png.d008ae0581ef62e5f92d9a09d2d7aa87.png

This is worth explaining. Although it looks like just a simple Sign, it’s actually a Loot Stash spawn point. Every time you open a Loot Stash, you can place a building on top of the Loot Stash spawn point to block the spawn, causing the Loot Stash to regenerate at the next spawn point. So, the device I mentioned for killing Klaus actually works because the Loot Stash spawns are fixed in place.

Please note, when refreshing the Loot Stash, make sure the character is outside the screen range. Otherwise, it could cause the Loot Stash to spawn at another point and destroy the building placed on top. If there’s a building on every Loot Stash spawn point, then the Loot Stash will randomly spawn at one of them.

You can also use Ocuvigil or Ice Crystaleyezer to observe if the Loot Stash has respawned. A quick reminder: finding Loot Stash spawn points is a very difficult task. It’s generally something done when there’s nothing else to do in a long-term save. This is because every time you find a Loot Stash spawn point, it means you have to kill a Klaus.(If the Loot Stash spawns in the Meteor Fields, you can place a Reinforced Dreadstone Pillar.)

image.png.bacc3906e8978f56768c4904839c4b03.png

There’s nothing much to say about these; just watch the video, and you’ll understand.

image.png.5aaa1fa159e7ac89622debea08084198.png

This is worth mentioning: the Ancient Guardian has a leap skill. This skill can be activated when the player is between 4.1 and 15 wall units away from the Ancient Guardian, and there are no large pillars between them. I believe I don’t need to explain much further; just pay attention to the red circle I’ve drawn.

image.png.7c931eaf8ac77319fe087b7a2b7622b1.png

There’s nothing much to explain about this either. Inside, there are four Reinforced Dreadstone Pillars. The position of the Reinforced Dreadstone Pillars is such that you can place an Odd Skeleton right in the middle. It’s worth mentioning that if your maze has a spiderweb spread out like mine, you can place some walls, just like I did. This is because we all know that walking along the edge of the maze won’t attract spiders.

image.png.b712689bf347e9f8bcb773d8ee6a4f0a.png

There’s nothing much to explain about this; the cost is very high. These Reinforced Dreadstone Pillars are used to block the Misery Toadstool from attacking Houndius Shootius. In reality, you can use Winona’s Catapult instead, which would be much cheaper and can also chop trees. However, the downside is that it can’t be used by all characters. Still, you’ll need to fill all three spawn points and place an Ocuvigil nearby to check which spawn point it refreshes at. (I think this boss is the next one that should be revamped, because fighting it is just too boring.)

image.png.33044f061f3da8d4c268d0820583e978.png

I don't think there's much to explain about this. The purpose of sharing this clip is to teach this method, meaning using a Sign to block the Lavae from returning (although it never actually left).

image.png.8c6f5dc59a7aa7dfaab9ca288db3e438.png

There’s not much to say about this either. Actually, the main point of this clip is to show that players can pass through the space between the two Reinforced Support Pillars, but other creatures don't have a patrol mechanism, so they will move to the side. (If you don’t mind the ugliness, you can directly use the Pillar Scaffold.)

image.png

How to Obtain a Large Number of Deer Antlers

These No-Eyed Deer are the ones capable of growing Deer Antlers. They have a unique mechanism—only these No-Eyed Deer can grow antlers, while Klaus’s No-Eyed Deer cannot. At the end of autumn, these No-Eyed Deer will emerge from the Loot Stash spawn points. Don’t worry; they won’t destroy any buildings placed at the Loot Stash spawn point. Five appear at a time, and a maximum of ten can exist in the world. After capturing five in one year, you’ll need to return the next year for more.(They can only grow Deer Antlers in winter, so you can identify and capture them during the winter.)

Keep in mind that these No-Eyed Deer will naturally despawn unless there are at least ten buildings within a 7.5-tile radius of them.

How to Plant Lune Trees on Dock Kits

To plant Lune Trees on a Dock Kit, use Winona’s Shadow Affinity ultimate skill to pick a Fragile Rose. Then, die on the Dock Kit, leaving the rose behind (of course, there are other ways to place a flower on the Dock Kit, but this is likely the simplest method). After that, use the Steeped Lunar Essence from the Hallowed Nights event to transform the flower into a Lune Tree.

If you want to place the flower in a precise location, you can first set up a Steering Wheel at the desired spot, then board the boat and steer it. After positioning yourself, consume Monster Meat or use another method to die. Upon revival, the flower will be left exactly at that spot.

image.png.bf82d1e41888a73d1ab7735b39f6d3db.png

Simply put, this red line represents the limit of the Den Decorating Set’s effect. Winona’s Catapult's area attacks will not cause the Den Decorating Set to drop, and the character can safely enter to collect items. (Please note, if there are too many Spider Dens, spiders may fall onto the shore. If you want to quickly farm spider webs and other items, the best method is to use the Spider Queen, although it wouldn't be the same structure as this one.)

How to farm Malbatross effectively:

In simple terms, here’s how it works: The Ocean Trawler Kit, when placed outside the player's screen range, will continue to automatically fish. Each time it fishes, there is a 10% chance to summon Malbatross. Therefore, every time the Ocean Trawler Kit fishes, there is a 10% chance to summon a Malbatross. As soon as the player arrives at this location, Malbatross will spawn (unless you're really unlucky). This location is the Deep Bass spawn point, and you can use Houndius Shootius to kill Malbatross.

In practice, my setup isn't perfect—there are some places where I can't collect the loot, and sometimes I get stuck in the water. However, the important thing here is to understand the core mechanics. The specific setup and how to improve it is up to you!

How to safely use the Moon Stone:

Here’s a simple explanation of the mechanics: The Moon Stone can be used to spawn Moon Rocks, which is widely known. When there are 6 Pigmen or 6 Hounds around the Moon Stone (only one of them is necessary; I’ve placed more here for demonstration purposes), the Moon Stone has 6 spawn points, and it will randomly spawn a combination of Pigmen and Hounds.

By placing these Hounds and Pigmen near the Moon Stone beforehand, the Moon Stone will not spawn any creatures. To clarify, it’s fine to only have 6 Pigmen or 6 Hounds; they don’t need to be a mix.

The video at the beginning of the post has already been fully explained. On the next page, there are new videos and additional content, which still contain many game mechanics that you may not know about.

I watched the whole thing and really liked some farms, but a few are definitely bugs and some others may not be bugs, but still feels like something the developers did not intend to happen or simply didn't think it'd be used that way

So you just abused the hell out of the game and be mad that they patch bugs. Also, the whole "we spent so much time inventing this farm" thing sounds stupid and childish, IT DOES NOT MATTER how much time you spent making a farm and how sad you will be if they fix it, if it abuses a bug then don't whine about it being fixed (I'm not saying everything should be fixed, but developers have every right to fix whatever glitch they want)

there is 0 reason to be this hostile.

I personally think it’s due to the browser. You might be using Edge, and I’m not exactly sure why this browser can’t play the video. You can try using Google Chrome instead.

not working on firefox either x_x

I'm also having the same problems, but on Google Chrome.

Sorry, but that's just the truth, if you abuse the game don't be mad if it gets fixed and this guy said the developers are ignorant and have a shallow understanding of their own game, acts like their Chinese million day world players are the elite of dst and understand everything, they think if they come down to earth and share their sacred farm design stoopid Klei entertainment will fix it just to make them mad. I see a lot of reasons to be hostile, but i think what I said was deserved

by the by, can someone explain what goes on in the frostjaw video? it is the only one of these strategies i have never seen before(maybe?) and it is making my brain itch wondering what happens. i was going to just let it be but this is the third time i have come back to this thread and my curiosity is not abating

At what point does someone just go and play a different game? Oxygen not Included is quite literally the game built for these kinds of systems where you're supposed to go crazy and make things on an enormous scale and find new ways to achieve a variety of tasks.

DST seems like the last game that needs this kind of stuff in it.

This doesn't sit well with me too much. ONI is a colony sim game where you are heavily encouraged to automate in order to grow your colony. This doesn't particularly interest me because ONI has many moving parts and you have to keep track of everything or it gets very stressful. DST is a Sandbox based game where while survival is an integral element, building out resource farms is a valid strategy to improve your survival and general lategame expereince. Sure, the devs probably didn't intended for that when they made the game, but given that this game is well over a decade old at this point and players have been doing things like this since the very beginning of DS, it's pretty much reserved as an integral part of the game.

I myself get a lot of enjoyment out of building farms like this. Most players will just get by with what they need with the simple-enough resource farms, maybe make an exotic one or two, "complete" the gameplay loop, and leave the world or focus on megabase building. Building out resource farms is not going to impact the average player in 99% of circumstances, especially when a lot of farms need a good amount of setup to pull off that are not the "base" ones.

This likely doesn't interest you, and that's okay. Players have different playstyles and I don't think there's anything wrong like that. As long as you don't force players that there's an "Intended" way to play this game, there's nothing wrong with that.

Changed the intro wording, hopefully that's a bit better...?

What....

Chinese players can use some game mechanics to optimize their farms, and now its the devs fault? What is that idea?

Like you guys really have a peculiar way to deliver criticism, you have a perfectly reasonable thing to say, and you start it off with a rude and arrogant remark or even an accusation... and then you complain about "unfriendly forum environment".

This is a bit disrespectful.

How is asking if it's the best idea to play a game where mechanics someone clearly enjoys are at risk of being patched out disrespectful? ONI was just an example. There are plenty of games that would be a better fit for exactly what you, and other people enjoy so much. I only think it's odd seeing the game visibly break on your screen in a game not built for this kind of gameplay, when games that support and expand on it exist.

I understand the rest of your point, I just don't get how I was being disrespectful. Was it my wording?

But see, that's the beauty. ONI is made for that stuff, doing it in DST that hadn't planned for such a thing to be possible is far more interesting.
