I'm very sorry, but I don't have time right now to explain all the details of these new videos. I will add more details later. If you're interested, feel free to watch them one by one. I believe there might be some techniques in the videos that you're not familiar with yet. If you end up learning something new, that would make me very happy.

How to Get Clout Snout and Gold Nugget
As shown in the video, it's quite simple. To start this mini-game, make sure there are no obstacles within a three-Turf radius. Then, just place four sets of Gold Nuggets outside that three-Turf range using walls, and you can easily win the game and obtain both the Clout Snout and Gold Nugget.

(A useless little fact: Signs duplicated by a Mimicreep will disappear very quickly.)

There’s not much to say about this one either — Frostjaw’s leap attack can instantly kill creatures without movement components. Specifically, it can kill things like Tentacles, the Houndius Shootius, Deadly Brightshade, Antlion, and Crab King.
(Actually, Antlion’s sinkholes can also kill creatures without movement components.)

How to Quickly Defeat the Great Depths Worm Using WX-78
Since being swallowed by the Great Depths Worm doesn’t instantly kill the character, you can use this trick even with just 1 HP. The key is to play as WX-78, install 3 Electrification Circuits, and wear a Bramble Husk.

I didn’t have a health display mod enabled, so the damage isn't shown visually, but this method deals around 2500 damage at once. So, getting swallowed twice and landing a few hits afterward is enough to easily defeat the Great Depths Worm.
(Of course, if you're like me, you can let it swallow you three times instead. Also, keep in mind that you should wear another headgear item to help spread out the durability loss on the Bramble Husk.)

There’s not much to explain here — I’ve mentioned this before. I just wanted to show that you can use mobs to trap the Dragonfly.
(Just remember to place an Ice Flingomatic.)

How to Deal with All the Cookie Cutters in Brine Shoals
First, pick a day when the night is relatively long. Then, put the Cookie Cutters to sleep — because sleeping creatures will stay asleep throughout the night and only wake up the next day when it’s daytime.

Next, use a boat to lure all the Cookie Cutters underneath it, and then use the Bootleg Getaway to teleport to a place you’ll never go again. This way, that particular salt formation will no longer have any Cookie Cutters — unless you go back to that unreachable area, at which point they’ll return.
(If you’re up for it, you can also get extended nighttime by defeating the Celestial Champion multiple times — though that requires a multiplayer setup.)

How to Get Multiple Bundles of Thanks
As shown in the video, during Spring, you can craft a large number of Pretty Parasols. Then, use the Magician’s Chest to speed up their rotting process. Once the Pretty Parasols are close to spoiling, use a Bundling Wrap to pack up the extras.

Give the almost-rotten Pretty Parasol to the Crabby Hermit — with the constant rain, it’ll be used up quickly. After that, you can give her another one, allowing you to receive another Bundle of Thanks. Repeat the process for multiple rewards.

How to Defeat the Crab King
One method is to place two Bee Mines at the edge of a boat, then rotate the boat using the Rudder to trigger the mines. Since the Crab King can’t attack flying creatures, the bees will safely deal damage, making it easy to take him down with just two Bee Mines.

Alternatively, you can use Gunpowder — it only takes 60 Gunpowder to kill the Crab King, and you don’t even need to activate him first.

Another method takes advantage of the fact that the Crab King doesn’t use water pillar attacks directly to his south (as shown in the image). You can place two Ocean Trawler Kits to block a boat in that exact spot, and attack him from there. However, this method is more complicated, as you’ll need to deal with things like the Imposing Claw and carefully find the right placement position.

How to Lift Your Character into the Air and Build a Giant Light Pillar Made of Fireflies
Just follow the steps shown in my video to lift your character into the air. You can also build a pyramid like I did using Glass Castle — since it's semi-transparent, it lets light through really well. That said, it does require a huge amount of glass shards.

Of course, you can also use other materials like Giant Toma Roots, Figures, or anything else you prefer. But be warned — this project takes a lot of time, resources, and patience.

image.png.a2705fc347e5f91bcb4ee52c9393e951.png

How to Defeat the Antlion
First, you can locate the Antlion’s spawn point on the map and place a Houndius Shootius right at that spot. When the Antlion spawns, it will overlap with the Houndius Shootius, but won’t be able to attack it.

Another useful trick is that Antlion’s Sand Spike attack doesn’t appear on top of Tallbird Nests. This means you can safely stand on a Tallbird Nest and attack the Antlion without taking any damage.

A Small Trick With Limited Use
You can block Deerclops’ movement using just four Snowballs.

image.png.f5edecff80b5b25d70a2515bc67f94f5.png

How to Use Staffs Copied by Mimicreep
We all know that we can’t directly use the various staffs copied by Mimicreep. However, we can actually force the use of these staffs through Haunting, such as with the Star Caller’s Staff.

image.png.c24e420550ee06f94afc16773ebf07c9.png

How to Clear a Clean Pond Area
You can teleport Frogs to a specific location and then use Stone Walls to surround them. It's recommended to use Wurt for this. After teleporting about a dozen Frogs, add another layer of Stone Walls. This is important because when too many Frogs gather at the same spot, they will collide with each other and some may fall into the sea. To avoid this, make sure to teleport them in several stages and build multiple layers of walls.

(A bug: Although the number of Frogs in each Pond is fixed, over time or after repeatedly restarting the server, the number of Frogs in a Pond might increase from three to four, leading to additional Ponds. This is very rare, but it can happen occasionally.)

image.png.d1de8425cc700b5534ff814758d858e7.png

How to Obtain a Blocky Ruins as a Decorative Structure
As demonstrated in my video, Blocky Ruins can actually be pushed, though it’s quite slow. You can gradually push the Blocky Ruins from the Ruins area to various underground locations to use as decoration. There are mods specifically for pushing items, which makes the process much easier.

image.png.99894ebdbccdd01fbc48e6720cde561a.png

I don't think this needs much explanation, as I'm sure you all already know. So, I’ll keep it short. Placing it next to the Celestial Portal is better for solo play.

I believe with the tips explained above, you should now know how my friend built this beautiful scene.

How to Obtain the Crabby Hermit’s Message in a Bottle
Since this process is a bit complex, I’ll explain it separately. In short, Crabby Hermit’s Message in a Bottle is different from a regular Message in a Bottle — they are coded differently. The idea is that by using heavy Ocean Fish (like Fallounder), each Ocean Fish provides two loot slots (one for Advert and one for Bundle of Thanks), filling Crabby Hermit's inventory. Then, by saving and reloading the game, Crabby Hermit won’t drop the items in her inventory. Next, by placing a Rudder-equipped boat at the fishing spot where Ocean Fish appear and disappear, Crabby Hermit will switch to her Sea Fishing Rod, forcing the Message in a Bottle to appear. This Message in a Bottle can be used just like a regular Message in a Bottle, and will also drop an Empty Bottle after use.

1. Enter the following local code:

c_showradius(35,c_findnext("hermitcrab_marker")) for k,v in pairs(Ents)do if v.prefab=="hermitcrab_marker_fishing"then SpawnPrefab("reticuleaoesummon").entity:SetParent(v.entity) SpawnPrefab("reticule").entity:SetParent(v.entity) end end

This code is for local display and can be used even if you're not an admin. Then, use the boat to remove any extra fishing spots and move them away from the large central circle. (The Message in a Bottle will only fish and drop in this circle.)

2. As shown in my video, first, complete all the Crabby Hermit tasks, then return the Cracked Pearl to her. Only when there’s no Cracked Pearl in the world and Crabby Hermit's affection is at maximum will her Message in a Bottle, when used, give you Sunken Chest locations.

3. The rest of the process is explained in great detail in my third video. If you're not an admin, you may need a Star Caller's Staff and some combustible items to freeze Crabby Hermit until the next day, then save the game. You can then rollback through voting. Make sure to first approach Crabby Hermit to make sure her inventory drops the excess items, then walk away before performing the rollback. (You can reset the Ocean Fish weight by placing seasonal Ocean Fishes into the water and using a Strident Trident to blast them up — I'm sure you're familiar with this trick.)

4. Not much else to say, just some important tips:

  • First, always make sure to give Crabby Hermit all the fish during the day and freeze her, or the transition between day and dusk might cause your efforts to fail.

  • Second, if the process fails, do not rollback. A rollback could cause Crabby Hermit to enter an infinite inventory state where her inventory is full, but you can still give her items.

  • Third, Crabby Hermit has 15 inventory slots, so in theory, 8 seasonal large fish are enough, but it’s better to prepare more.

  • Fourth, make sure you’re fully prepared before starting. You can practice in a separate save file, as failing could result in an unsuccessful operation.

5. You can also place a Plugged Fissure off-screen, because one of Crabby Hermit’s traits is that if the Plugged Fissure makes noise, she’ll approach and trigger a dialogue.

The efficiency of producing the Message in a Bottle actually depends on the length of the day. The longer the day, the higher the output. For the longest summer day, you can produce up to a dozen Messages in a Bottle per day. But really, a few are enough because Crabby Hermit’s Message in a Bottle can be copied by Mimicreep, and the copied Message in a Bottle will still work and create a new Empty Bottle.

image.png.afa161ff51d34bfe095a0b1950042efa.png

If You Have Enough Messages in a Bottle
If you’ve gathered enough Messages in a Bottle, you can trap Crabby Hermit on a boat by closing the door, then destroy the boat to obtain a new Crabby Hermit. (This has a cooldown, so you’ll need to wait a few days before doing it again.) The new Crabby Hermit will have all new tasks, which means you can redo almost all the tasks and earn more Inactive Celestial Tribute, Pearl's Pearl, or Cracked Pearl.
Remember, before destroying the boat, make sure to destroy any other task-related items on the island, such as flowers or Berry Bushes, as these will be lost.

By the way, if you want, you can also use the extra Inactive Celestial Tributes to create a pyramid, though it will take a very long time to complete.

That should cover all the details.

Apologies, I can't explain everything in one go, but the remaining part of the video should be easy to understand, and I'll provide more detailed instructions later. Personally, I think I can still record some more videos to explain certain game mechanics (it seems that using various creative methods to defeat bosses is quite popular, as I recently discovered on YouTube — many videos are like that?). However, I don’t think I’ll come up with too many more operations to show, so I’ll add them gradually later, but not in bulk like I did in the beginning. I’m also considering talking about my mods and which in-game items in long-term saves can cause performance issues (hopefully the developers can optimize this in the future). I might also mention my server setup. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment, and I'll do my best to answer.

Thank you for posting these, these posts are genuinely great to see how chinese people play the game. It is like 10x more advanced than NA/EU players.

I would like to play with some advanced people like yourself one day. I like to build intricate farms, build big bases and rush things (relatively).

Would it be possible to “lock” the cutters in place via making a dock square with an ~4X4 ocean hole in the center, and then warping the sacrifice boat into the center?

This won't work. Once the character reaches this location, all the Cookie Cutters will return to their original spots. So, you must take the boat to a place where no one will go, such as the corners of the map.(And make sure the Cookie Cutters remain asleep the entire time.)

Actually, it’s a bit different from that. From what I understand, some Chinese players who are familiar with English also join English-speaking game groups, where they learn about new game mechanics and tips, and then share them with the Chinese community. So, many game mechanics and tips actually come from the English community. What I find a bit puzzling is why these haven't spread as widely within the English-speaking community. Some of these tips, when shared on Chinese internet platforms, quickly get picked up by a large number of Chinese players.

i like the approach of the author, actually I love to see different exploits) However to be honest the videos shown don't display anything critical. Maybe no-bees-honey-production only. Ice-flingo freezing effects and possiblity to push someone to the water/boat are well-known. Having a monkey-chef without paddle is not a bug and is actually funny. Pillars + 100500 houndius shootious are very late game, at least for average player, since for 2000+ days I'll kill 2-3 Fuelveawers at max.

So there's nothing to afraid I believe, thanks for sharing!

oh! i haven't seen anyone do the vertical placement trick in a long time, i think the last time was 3-4 years ago when someone made a base with a roof and a second floor(was it orangE? i think i remember him showcasing it but that was foreverago)

Lack of Freedom:
The Deadly Brightshade completely limits the player’s freedom. Instead of giving players the option to choose, it forces them to create large, complex setups with multiple limitations just to farm on the surface.

"Honestly, you don’t have to explain that to me — I’m actually quite familiar with how to handle Deadly Brightshade. The thing is, it’s just a bit of a hassle. Not necessarily difficult, but rather tedious. The recent developer updates feel kind of like… you’re enjoying a peaceful evening watching TV at home, and suddenly, neighbors start dropping by uninvited every night. And with each update, there might be even more of them. It gets a bit overwhelming and inconvenient — that’s really the main concern. (In fact, it might be worth thinking about why some players choose to build those devices instead of taking it down directly.)"

"As a long-term player — or at least someone like me — the more time I spend with the game, the more I find the design of Deadly Brightshade to be rather uninteresting. It feels like it comes at the cost of player freedom, and it’s quite tedious to deal with. That said, I still want to enjoy the new content brought by updates and improve my long-term world, which I think is a perfectly reasonable goal. However, recent updates from the developers seem mostly tailored for short-term playthroughs, which in my opinion shows a lack of consideration for different types of players. And that, I believe, is the core of the issue."

Im very thankfull, that you have shared this. I think that you have made right decision. This ultimately shows the beauty of the game and its playerbase. And it is a zone of grey morals. On one hand you have your own interest on the other you have an interest of western community. You have chosen to bring chinese and western coummunities and share, and i think now it is our responsibility as of players of western comunity to communicate and stand for that. I think that people should unite uhere and prove Klei, that interesting mechanics and freedom of gameplay is what makes this game the game we all fell in love with initially. It is the exploration of the indi aspect of the game and the challenging of the status quo. At first we all were surprised by night damage hound attacks and trees turning into tree guards, but this time is long gone for most, now we are surpised by all the interesting mechanics and interactions that game presents. I think klei are starting to lose the vision that they had initially for the game. I think if klei of now went into reign of giants, they wouldnt allow deerclops to be killed by treeguards or tenticles "as it would undermine the intended playstyle for the boss". But they didnt, they knew that freedom of choice was fundamental for the playerbase. And so they shouldn't do it now. I mean most players wouldnt even kill all the bosess, even less players would ever use those features. So there shouldnt be any harm if some dedicated players find cool features. And this is what we all should demonstrate to Klei as a united community. Good luck, my friends, stay optimistic!

It's why DST is great. I personally hate that right now it's kind of just focused more on short term combat. I've always loved being able to find out new things in the game. I'm not necessarily a builder however I do love finding strange interactions. It's why I've been playing this game for over 10 years.  And I do kind of feel like the current development team has kind of lost that aura of discovery and whimsy that DST used to have.

I totally agree, I just wrote my previous comment after reading the authors explanations, and only then i started reading replies. Im amazed how hatefull some people are overhere. "Bugs are to be fixed:... Ye, the bugs that break the gameplay and crash the game, cool abuses can wait, can't they? And its so funny to see them hate on chinese for "thinking too highly of themselves". Chinese represent the majority of this game in fact. This is why tencent got interested with Klei in the first place. The number difference in players between comunities in itself provides an upper hand for them, cus they have more people who can search within the code and explore the mechanics. In addition, knowing gaming culture in China, I can bet they spend much more time in dst tank many of us, so yes our community is like a toddler compared to them. That doesn't diminish our acheivements, but that is a fact, numbers do win. And yes they have all the right to be protective about it, people in these topic are being hypocritical, because I clearly remember the whole community crying like babies when Beard777 showed varg farm without referencing Gabriel Gabriel and got himself into witchunt, cus apperently its "very important to reference the sources as it is an inderect intelectual propert", but when Chinese do it, and politely voice their concerns for these things being removed, some people hate on them. I call it out for ignorance, racism and double standards, and almost feel like we didn't deserve the trust of their community. Very sad.
