So... WINbot will not recharge itself?

Recommended Posts

Well I have to say that winbot actually recharge itself if You deploy it in a generator energy range when the winbot runs out of energy it starts to recharge itself. So it's more that it needs a way to deploy itself when fully charged.

I would prefer to every character to be able to deploy winbot manually cause right now only winonas can do it. It would be better if Winona gets the ability to remotely deploys all winbots with the handy remote while everyone else can only do it manually, cause right now the winbot is pretty useless without a Winona in the base babysitting it.

I feel the same so either add the changes I wrote about or just give winbots the ability to deploy themselves when fully charged.

true, that's my main problem with them.

they made it seem like it will recharge itself and go work again, but it just sits there and waits

I suspect Klei's primary concern is probably that this'll turn Winbots into a swap character mechanic, but as far as I'm concerned the game is well overdue on a good item collection system in the first place. If Klei would rather not allow Winbots to be shared, then I would at the very least appreciate it if they could perhaps allow Pigs and Merms to pick up items for you similar to Maxwell's shadow puppets.

imo Winona already has tons of things other characters cannot use, and winbot should not be one of them

Winbots should be a shared perk to help a whole team, Winona has enough power and new perks for herself right now, she has the handy remote, all the buff to catapults and generators, strong second chance perk, 2 strong ways to cross the map fast, better use of fuel on generators, etc. So i don't think winbot should be a Winona only thing.

I agree cause winbot is a worst version of wobot after all, so makes sense for all characters to be able to deploy winbots since all characters can use wobot.

I mostly use them with lunar catapults for wood gathering. Unfortunately, their short battery life and lack of automatic redeployment makes using them for much else awkward at best, inefficient at worst.

their short battery life could be justified, if they had automatic redeployment

In my wood farm setup, I use 32 Winbots (16 which are “active”, and 16 which are backup/recharging). It certainly is much, much faster then picking up the items manually, especially when you deposit the items in an elasticspacer chest (which you can then proceed to drop on the ground and portasol next to a refining area).

Really my only gripe with them is winbots don’t seem to pickup items when unloaded, so even discounting the fact they have a bad battery life and won’t try to recharge, they also don’t work unless you have them loaded at all times, which is really impractical for my cases unless I need to move a massive amount of items at once. I hope Klei is able to do something about them, since it would be nice to see them get buffed in various ways.

not at all. they're like lazy forager on steroids in the early game and they're great for tons of farms even if when you walk by you reset them. They make twiggy trees 10x better than they already were

worth noting if you don't know that they will input items into backpacks if you place them on the ground

I wish there was a button on the controller to make them follow us.

Honestly I don't really think that's necessary considering how efficient winbot is at it's job however I could see them adding a feature to the remote that lets it harvest resources from things like saplings and berry bushes for example but at the cost of killing it's battery faster sorta like a overdrive mode.

I'm unsure if they are supposed to be a solution for all characters in the game with needing to deal with storage problems or that it's only for Winona to use as a little helper for storing things.

What's the purpose besides having tidiness in your bases? Especially if there are multiple ones then people will want everything to feel clean. I'd set those suckers up in forests I mine or chop just to do the handy work they do.

The update is this thursday and I keep checking the forum in hopes they added this... Klei please listen to us, we need WINbot to recharge itself :wilson_cry:

Because the update is thursday I doubt there will be anymore updates to the beta branch any final changes would be in the live build.

I think that winbot is fine as is. I don't think it is that inconvenient to redeploy it when you want it to pick stuff up. You don't really need them running 24/7 anyways.

I agree that it would be nice if winbots redeployed themselves automatically, but I worry that it would be too strong if that were the case.

Somehow I don't think that's what klei had in mind when they paired Winona and Wurt for skill trees.
