The Atrium is still really annoying to locate

you only brought it up to annoy others by saying that using it isn't bad even though you think that it's bad because of reasons that no one except you mentioned

Here im using that mod flatout now, its honestly pretty awesome for wurt or webber to know where the swamp is or a touchstone for early nurse spiders.

Again the mod solves Jimothy's problem until klei comes up with a permanent solution. This is on topic for the third time

we all know that you brought it up only to annoy others by trying to make considering using that mod fine look reasonless by trying to make reasons that no one except you brought up look nonsensical and ignoring reasons that others brought up

Not to annoy anyone just to win the debate with you :wilson_love:

Anyway does the mod solve the problem? Yes it does. Hence is still helpful for anyone who has the same issue finding the atrium despite my ulterior motive.

And im 100% using this mod all the time now btw. I actually agree with you that it improves fun for old players by skipping the exploration and getting to the good bits. Still shouldnt be allowed on klei servers but im gonna abuse it for as long as i can because my ego aint that big.

I also know how you think like you know how i think...

Are we becoming best friends?

point was that it's too obvious for anyone to think that you're genuinely talking about it or that you're proving someone wrong

Yeah ofc im not being genuine when i posted originally but for the fifth time the client mod does solve the problem for anyone who has the same issue and opens this thread.

Are you afraid of klei taking down this mod or mods like it?

ignored the last part entirely

no

Most of the time in my worlds I access the atrium using The Lazy Explorer. It's only when the world generation makes it too far away to teleport that I have to look for the Big Slimy Pit.

If one day we have a QOL for caves and ruins, perhaps Klei will improve this search.

Yeah I think the atrium probably suffers most from the "this is intuitive because we just added it so you see it in the patchnotes" issue that a good bit of ANR has. The only reason to know tentapillars lead to the atrium is either reading the wiki, or being there to see the change and so it stands out because it's new.

On that note, is there any way to know that triangulating the moon altars triggers the moonstorm event?

some characters say that you need to bring them together and a line of particles spawns between them after you place them near each other

the method i like the most though is to just make the atrium tentapillar always spawn in the muddy biome, its a direct and simple solution that doesnt make any major changes to items or world gen there isnt much else to say here.

This is a simple and elegant solution however I don’t like it that much because how is a new player supposed to know that specifically the muddy biome tentacle is the one that leads to the atrium instead of any of the others?

One solution I find myself favoring over others is that while having a shadow atrium in your inventory in the caves, and prior to Fuelweaver being beaten, the heart audibly beat and move around in your inventory (probably more like "move" in the way the thulecite medallion does where it changes states) acting as a tracker towards the correct tenepillar. Once you get past, it would become more rythmic but also louder as you gradually moved closer to the gate way, evening out once you got there. I would also imagine some kind of shadow covered plauqe that would give some vauge hints on how to summon the fuelweaver:
"With the key inserted,
an olden body reassembled and inerted,
place the heart of darknes within,
and prepare to deal with those with umbral grins"
Something to make the process entirely more clear the first time you did it if you did it blind.

Does anyone likes to explore tentapillars

Every now and then when I don't get a close atrium I can teleport to, I give tentapillars a shot and I always end up regretting it. I have also found out that some tentapillars generate without a pair and I'm really not willing to find out by trial and error if the tentapillar in the atrium can also generate like that.

It really doesn't take that long to find the right tentapillar. The past few worlds I've been unlucky and had to try every tentapillar and it still took no more than a day's worth of effort each time.

It took no more than a day? After you had all tentacle pillars mapped or going completely blind into the caves? Using any mods?

How do you get consistently less than a day is beyond me...

Well yeah, helps to at least know where they are. If you're going into a fresh new cave, then of course it will take a bit longer, since you can't map the whole caves in a day anyway.

But with Wolfgang it takes no more than a minute to knock down a tentapillar, and then hopping through it also eliminates the tentapillar on the other side. Do that about 5 times and you're done.

Thats worse than using cheese, which you were against.

You can't beat this game without google or asking people in public servers how to do things.

New player wont know what the atrium is.

I have two ways to locate Atrium

1.Moggles or WX with nightvision and have walk around ruins. There is quite a chance for Atrium to be in Lazy Explorer range which also means visible with proper equipment.

2. Play Wendy and follow tentapillar route. She just makes it much easier.

But not gonna lie, as new player I had 0 (zero) idea how any of these things works...

Tbh i mostly play DST on switch these days so no mods for me. Switch is like playing dst on hard mode. Pc players have it so easy.

Just logged on to pc to test out that mod and it turned out pretty fun to use on klei servers.

I'd like to think of it as a fun way to just randomly stumble upon an entrance to get to atrium, but the distance between so many tentapillars is abysmal to traverse from one to another. Maybe moving tentapillar to the ruins would make more sense as a way to get there? Would be in some big biome somewhere hidden away perhaps.

Why not try to solve the problem then?

maybe more new players would know about the atrium if it was easier to find
