Why is Willow able to set robots on fire?

Recommended Posts

And why can those robots be set on fire in principle? I mean, they're made of iron, so why they flammable? And why do they panic when engulfed in flames?
And the most important question - why do hot embers drops from them? Well, Wortox is not given a soul from those robots, which somewhat balances the exploration of the ruins for him, but why does Willow get embers?

it breaks the progression and makes an already overpowered character just plain ridiculous

Their internal wiring and stuff could catch fire. They should be flammable, but they shouldn't panic or give embers on death.

they should panic because that's the only way to kill bishops quickly without damage/speedboost

willow isn't as good as many other characters and killing any clockworks other than bishops is a waste of time as any character except maybe WX anyway, maxwell and wolfgang are still better at doing ruins and why would you specifically talk about how good she is in a specific area that all characters can about equally comfortably clear out unlike e.g. killing BQ or FW before spring, which already more than half of characters can comfortably do

Bishops are a trade-off. You can either choose to eat the damage, or let them block off areas you might want to explore.

Willow can literally hold F with her lighter and kill them with complete impunity. I'm totally on board with keeping her lunar fire un-nerfed, but fire panic on mobs that are thematically combat-ready is unfair if it completely disables all of their actions.

you can do the same thing with a torch and i don't see a need to change it, it was like that probably since bishops and fire were added, willow only needs to be less careful because of the drops not turning to ash even if you don't count hits and wait for them to get extinguished before killing them

it's hardly useful for anything other than ewecuses/vargs/bishops and most people do those through tanking instead of torches anyway

nor they should be set on fire, they are made completly from metal, nothing more! not a single different component!

XD

I can directly see how conditional Wilson, in the midst of a fight, tears the metal with his bare hands in order to get to the wiring and set it on fire :)

nah. The opposite, torch should always set enemies on fire and enemies defeated while on fire shouldnt drop ashes if their loot isnt flammable

making that a willow exclusive mechanic feels bad. Is limiting tactics with an already simple combat

Multiple characters have exclusive combat tactics at this point so it's fine if Willow gets her own.

she is the best at it because her fire cant spread and has aoe fire

i dont see how is bad to make torches more consistent and fix the non sense of enemies dropping ashes which is something requested since DS

plus you wont have that fixed exclusive ways of playing as characters... that is boring. Doing always the same things with the same characters

She's not because unlike other exclusive combat tactics her's doesn't work on everything.

Klei has already gone down this route with multiple other characters for better or worse and I don't see it changing now but if Klei does change it I'd say Willow's ability should be improved to be able to burn any and all enemies not just those who are normally able to be burned.

I like random things like frogs and rock lobsters being fire immune.

Prerefresh me might have wanted to burn nightmare creatures for a “cohesive” anti shadow focus, but now I’m happy to be sane again and not worrying about having shrooms on hand.

We should also deal extra damage to robot mobs like Clockworks, sentrypedes, Twins (and Wx in pvp) with weapons that have electricity since metal is very conductive right?

Next you'll tell me crab king isn't wet...

surprisingly, I don't think he is a 24/7 damp target, I recall getting a little upset in a warly world I had where I was all ready to fight him, and then I noticed, "oh, crab king isn't a default wet target... despite the fact he is at sea... and is half submerged..."

I deeply wish people who play the game on Pc with a keyboard and mouse would stop crying for nerfs to something they feel is broken or OP, because what’s easily doable with KB+Mouse could be barely doable or worse: Not doable at all with a Controller.

And I sincerely hope Klei takes that into consideration while Nerfing/balancing the game, because I’ve seen several times where something that was ALREADY Underperforming on Console was Overperforming for PC and it got a Nerf which also effected consoles so it under performed even more.

Its not fun.. and sadly there aren’t enough controller players on these forums to express all the flaws with how clunky it works.

maybe it'd be better to make controller controls better instead of changing items' stats because they can't be used properly when playing using a controller

Controller Andys are a rare species.

I am one of them

Hate using number keys for games, and it is annoying to need to mouse over the lighter and press a key to absorb embers for example

and less when that complains comes from "skill issue"...

setting stuff on fire isnt much more complicated than in pc... but if someone complains about stuff being difficult when they have their spear in random slots in their backpacks you cant expect objective feedback

tbh even on keyboard there is room for improvement in binding actions / items.  Maxwell, and now Willow both getting this new interface - they really need to work on the polish.  Its really bad to click several times to start an action, limiting you to asdw movements while you do so.  Radial menus aren't great for kb/m either compared to just keybindings.  DST has a lot of issues like this where more skillful gameplay just can't be put in the game without the game getting a proper face lift in mechanics and clarity.  Things like rooks charging in 360 degrees but only having 4 facings etc.

I think having a hot key directly to a spell would be nice, as well as binding a certain item to a key instead of only simple inventory slots that are horrible at messing themselves up lol
