I always did like that about her. She wasn't stupid in the ignorant sense, just stupid in the arrogant sense. 17 minutes ago, -Variant said: Alter specifically lured in some characters with the promise of a way out, and then of course the shadow side offers immense power, yadda yadda. To me, especially with the Gestalt quotes, that seems to just be alter/alter's peons effectively hypnotizing the survivors into a trance. You'd imagine once they snap out of it, they'd immediately realize it was a trick, especially given what it was doing to them. To willingly go back to something that's so blatantly just trying to kill you is... Well, it's still a bit of an odd one to me. Especially when it would call for such a desperate desire that's not really reflected in many other things. With how things are going, the survivors seem generally content with being where they are. Even happy, in some cases. Especially after seeing both sides' effects on the world, we have gigantic warning signs everywhere that this power is not to be tampered with, and I guess everyone's supposed to be ignoring it entirely now? Maybe it's just the outsider perspective and general overview of everything as a player rather than a character that makes it seem so terrible to me. Maybe if I were in that actual situation, I, too, would try to sign up for a side of a war that has actively sent 5 or 6 gargantuan titans that have wanted to do nothing but kill me on sight, and will still want to kill me on sight after, discovered by digging through ruins with murals of warnings lining halls filled with death, because it told me how to make a scythe and because a lady (who tries to kill me nightly) waved at me. Idk. Though I mean, realistically I'd probably pounce Wagstaff like a rabid animal and start strangling his apparition until he built a portal. Disguise themselves, or something. And that the ancient throne is the same thing as the shadow throne. I guess that just makes fuelweaver a golem with violent sentimental feelings? The mystery is only fun when you can reasonably filter the information given. As of late it just feels like we keep getting names and things thrown at us; leaving, at least me anyways, feeling too burnt out to bother theorizing, and just sitting around waiting for them to flat out spell it out for us as there's no real build up to the answers. And also, why should I care? Especially with the whole "sides" thing now, where both sides feel either neglectfully distant from the player or purposefully violent as hell, why would I realistically want to pick a side? It's seemingly a war between deities who don't give a crap about us, and the two dopes in charge of sign-ups seem to be, very blatantly, openly manipulating the characters. Hell, Charlie made a big stage play for her twitter callout post against Maxwell and a reveal of her evil plan, yet he still seems to be eager as ever to jump on board for the promise of. Well, nothing was really promised. I guess he just misses his old... height? Gameplay purposes aside, what actual draw is there to want to align oneself with either side? I don't really keep up with the lore, but to my understanding "choosing" a side isn't literally doing that. From a gameplay perspective you align yourself with the sides by broad daying their champions, which doesn't really make sense unless the sides are actually Wagstaff & Charlie instead of Lunar & Shadow, but outside of a gameplay perspective even if the sides are reversed where mercing the CC would shadow align you that's still just something you do. It's not like the survivors decided to 86 the CC because they love the shadows and want them to rule forever, they were just following the directions of a kind old man. The only human outside of their group that they would've seen in a long time.
