Why the new pick up sounds are so much better

After the obligatory transition time of getting used to, I do enjoy the new pick up sounds a lot!
Due to the sudden high pitch, the old ones would trigger headaches, so that I would avoid DST at times because of it.
Even if the wood ones are still a tad loud, the new sounds make playing so much more comfortable.

The diversity helps adding some fun to chores, and there's a musicality within, similar to Oxygen Not Included, which is what got me into ONI in the first place! Audio is something we notice more subconsciously than visuals, they influence the atmosphere a lot, which is why I deem them so important. Hats off to all the sound designers involved at Klei!
I'm looking forward to more items getting a unique sound and hope you have tons of fun creating them

I love them. They're super simple but they do end up adding a lot of diversity to something as simple as picking up items.
The old ones were rather grating on the ears, even during short bursts of gameplay.

I hope they add squishy sounds for picking up manure, guano, rot, etc.

I do have a bit of a problem with the wood sound on twigs and the sounds berries and other food items make when you pick them up, but besides that yeah the new pickup sounds are pretty good!

I love to play with the gems when I have two different ones my inventory, thanks to that I actually learnt that I would go insane in minutes if I had to survive in real life.

I still have the old high pitched sfx stuck in my head even now I don't think I'll ever forget it's been with me for so long.
