The enlightenment shard and the beckoning hand are temporary, right Klei?

Recommended Posts

They are just temporary solutions, until the rifts are fleshed out and fully functioning, right? I mean, they are the promised 'content for veterans' so they should trigger automatically after you defeat their corresponding boss.

So don't forget to remove these 2 features once you fix the rifts, Klei.

I'm pretty sure these are temporary, aimed to smooth over the initial bumps as we're dealing with admittedly unfinished content.

Although I think it would be really dumb to force these on people without the quest line ending in a new realm of status quo content.  The game really must return to sandbox, not some forced ng+ garbage loop.

Isn't this like your second post with rhetorical questions pointed at the devs about how you don't like the new updates

Actually, this is kind of a genuine question.

Wagstaff's shard was obviously added as a last chance band-aid, so clearly the Lunar Rifts were meant to start automatically after CC's defeat.

Beckoning hand, however, seems to be much more fleshed out, with character quotes, sound effects and what-not. And it was part of the update right from the get-go

So I'm worried that Klei might be moving away from the idea of "the consequences of player's actions" and instead doing this boring "in-game world setting toggle"

Buddy, pal - what ng+? The only thing that, in the past 4 years, came even close to the idea of "forced ng+" is the shadow war in the lunar grotto. What do you mean 'return'; the game hasn't gone anywhere. If anything the rifts are a breath of fresh air

These should stay even if I hope Wagstaff gets the same trade screen than the hand as this "show" thing is too discret. In the end there is as much benefits than dangers behind this (the popup kinds of let you know) and it's likely to get only bigger... so this "you know what you sign for" is quite fitting instead of throwing at you now lots of new trouble for doing a boss that gives just a good enough reason to fight them for only their loots, for a single player and one has a cooldown. If we're to compare with Terraria and the Wall of Flesh Hardmode unlock this is fairly early in the game progression and doesn't match so much DST with where the Fuelweaver and CC are placed, not entirely incompatible either but imo this manual, permanent activation is a good thing.

Buddy pal maybe we can force this as a consequence when you're not just rewarded with annoyance and garbo gear?

My honest opinion is that trying to add a toggle for them to be activated at all was a bad choice. I come to this conclusion for several reasons.

#1- You can CHOOSE when to activate the new Content, making it just as Optional as every other Optional challenge in the Game.

#2- Any player can Rush this NG+ into the world if they’re skilled enough. Which defeats the whole purpose of adding them as in-game world toggles.

#3- Klei should’ve honestly just added a NG+ server type, that way it can’t be FORCED on other players & it’s not something that’s triggered OPTIONALLY.

Personally I’ve been enjoying worlds with Rifts on since DAY 1, it feels like a breath of Fresh air in a game I had gotten far too familiar with.

There lies the issue buddy, you turn them on with world settings, here people actually go through these quest lines and then have a choice if they want to commit to the new content or just stay with previous stuff, nothing wrong with that just as there's nothing wrong with turning them on with world settings.

Let people play their game how they wish to play it, just like they let you do with yours.

Actually- no they don’t have a choice, unless I’m misunderstanding You.. ANYONE can activate the new Rifts.

So let’s just say for example 5 Noobs are playing, and then.. “The Best DST Player to Ever Exist” Joins that game Session- That ONE Player can FORCE the New Content onto Everyone else.

Unless each player gets to “Vote” on Rather or not this content gets Activated?

Public servers are a different experience compared to private servers, when you play a public server without moderation don't expect a clean experience every time, not everyone that joins will be cool, Klei can't change that, sure, add voting for turning rifts on, but don't balance the experience around pubs.

+ pub server creators can turn rifts off entirely in world settings, you like those right?

As much as I was looking forward to and hoping they'd automatically trigger, I don't think they're going to.
I also don't think this is the ideal way to convey that you'd want them to either, I admit.

I've been aching for more threats that'd introduce themselves over time to the main game without needing to go out of your way to opt into them but I don't honestly think this is the direction Klei will be going in. I do hope they at least refine what they're putting down to be worthy challenges for those who do opt into them.

I think it'd be a lot more beneficial to try and start a thread detailing why you're opposed to the 'opt into it' mentality than one with questions, genuine or otherwise.
Could note why you feel it'd be better starting by itself or whatnot. There's ways to go about it.
