but your original post described the action as something only console players could do

Left on d pad is quick move (which is what i assume shift click is for you) but it doesnt move it from the fridge to the crock pot, it moves it to your inventory

No it moves it to the crock pot if i have the fridge and crock pot ui open

As can be seen here, no, left on d pad from fridge does not go into crock pot, only from inventory which from my original post

Quick move sends things from ice box to inventory

Is what is being argued here. Having crockpots perftly lined up is useless on console

I think it is overrated, personally. If you have an insulated pack, it can work as a mobile fridge, and it allows you to have more than 6 crock pots. IMO long-term you want 10-20 crock pots so you can have a constant flow of harvesting and filling crock pots, even for the long-cookintg dishes like dragonpie. Even then, the spoilage loss from cooking is gonna be minimal.

This is frustratingly true for console players.  I often end up using the inventory control to move things, but it is cumbersome and slow.

I love this idea!  I could have a much cleaner layout on console and then just switch backpacks to cook, then use quick transfer to load the mobile fridge and fill my crockpots...I just need to kill Bearger and wait for a new one to reset my logging operations.

Did not expect a thread about longest rollbacking to be about crockpot placing but it works out I suppose

As @bloopahmentioned, I usually aim for just 4 crockpots in a square. I usually don't make too many dishes that are too intensive on time early on, so only using 4 pots + 1 fridge is pretty manageable. The longest one I usually make is butter muffins, and even that isn't too bad with 4 pots.

Mid-lategame I usually prefer making setups where there are ~10-12 crockpots. While you won't be able to get all of them with one fridge, the time spent with the ingredients out of the fridge is so minor that it shouldn't present any major issues. Later on I like to make huge cooking zones of ~40 or so crockpots. While this is a massive luxury, I personally find it quite convenient to binge make 1 full stack of crockpot foods at a time, especially for bundle needs.

if you play solo, then rarely you are going to need more than 4 crockpots. Personally I feel like very large kitchens are more for multiplayer, where 2-3 more players are preping food for boss fights and others do whatever they need to be prepared. Also later in game (unless you use storage mods, or tons of wraps) anyway you are going to have more fridges and (likely) saltboxes.
