Plise add a way to find salt formation

Recommended Posts

This is stupid, i try to find the salt formation over a 30 days come on, is to random plase add a way to find more easly salt formation, is not like monkey islant or watherlog biom, because you need to find salt formation for quest to pearl and next to kill crab king.

What Duck986 said. There is a guaranteed Salt Formation nearby the Crabby Hermit. So if you know where she is (which shouldn't be hard), You can find the salt. It is REALLY close by so just circle around the island expanding outward and you'll find it there.

I don’t really think salt in particular needs a new way to find it, but I’d LOVE if they added a spyglass made of moon glass to make exploring the ocean less tedious

Sorry I don't want to be mean but since when is this the case and are you sure about this? To my knowledge ocean setpieces/biomes just follow the rule "if it fits, it fits" except for the Lunar Islands, so you are never guaranteed to have anything anywhere on the ocean. They just spawn on the first non-occupied spot with an eligible ocean depth.

There should be at least one not far from Crabby Hermit, because you need cutter shells for her house. Idk if it's intended, but I always had one.

Oh how I wish that was the case:) I don't always get one.

I haven't looked at the code (because I dont understand code) but out of at least 200 worlds, all of them had salt formations within 2 screens of Pearl's Island. I am pretty sure that is statistically significant enough to be classified as "near 100%"

As much as I want what you said to be true, having salt formations near Pearl's Island is a matter of luck which doesn't hold true for everyone. Nothing except for the Lunar Island is guaranteed to spawn anywhere on the ocean, this includes the salt formations as well as Pearl's Island. Anyone might get the two close to each other, and at the same time no one might. From your experience there might always be a some salt formations near Pearl's Island, but from my experience this has only been the case half of the time. It is pure luck and it would help us unlucky players a lot if what you described was actually coded into the game, so let's discuss that in this thread instead.

I'm also not saying there aren't enough salt formations on the ocean, but the way they are scattered are completely randomized, which is the actual issue in my opinion. It is really frustrating to map out over a third of the whole ocean and not coming across a single salt formation, or anything you want to find on the ocean for that matter, which has happened to me multiple times. It would certainly help if there were some clues scattered on the ocean hinting towards what is in which direction, at least for the salt formations since they are required for getting Pearl's pearl.

I don't, but Evelo confirmed that it's true...

...and if it's not - even the guaranteed setpiece has a chance not to spawn. I've met some worlds without marble chess setpiece (the one you use to summon shadow chess) and without reed trap (I forced it using Do Your Map mod, and sometimes I got two or none at all)

Interesting indeed. I suspect this is a significantly rare event. Could be wrong though, there are always variables. I still believe it is "guaranteed" with a margin of error of course as shown by your example.
