Torch toss should be universally available to all characters.

I kind of agree with this it would be a really neat feature for everyone. Wilson would need a new perk, maybe an offensive torch throw, or something else.

PLEASE A NEW PERK NOT RELATED TO THE TORCH!!!

If it doesn't change gameplay much why do you want it? Making torches almost as good as lanterns is a big change to gameplay.

To clean up this in the server. (image from internet)

By the way. It's not nearly as good as lantern. If torches like that are almost as good as lanterns, then spear is almost as good as dark sword with same logic.

… I am such an idiot and did not realize what the “Torch” skill tree was meant to Symbolize.

Wilson.. the one who is the mascot of the franchise & thus the “Torch Carrier” of course!! It all makes so much more sense now…

His torch would shine the brightest, and burn the longest.. and oh wait did he just THROW IT?!?!

They never do that in the Olympics…

Does throwing the torch symbolize “The passing of the torches?” and if so.. to WHO?! Or to WHAT??

On a more serious note: Op, what actual use does tossing torches even have??? And why should every character be able to do it?

I ALREADY fear that using my Xbox controller and the Wonkey way button inputs for controller are will have me fling my torch halfway across the screen when all I wanted to do was pick some berries up off the ground or something..

He's often seen holding a torch in official artwork:

It lets you place torches down like lanterns to allow you to perform actions in the dark. Though you can achieve something similar without the perk by dropping something on the ground and burning it to get some light for a short while, but thrown torches last a lot longer than burning items.

Yes but he is also seen pouring green liquid down a gooses throat from a science beaker in official artwork too for unknown purposes.

Its important to note that Wilson isn’t a “Failed” Gentleman Scientist I think we only ever actually see ONE of his experiments failing.. but he’s created a bunch of other stuff.

I highly dislike the community’s impression that all of his science experiments fail- if any of you have EVER watched Dexters Laboratory a lot of his inventions “fail” too, but that didn’t make him any less of a boy genius.. nor did it guarantee that everything he made was going to backfire or blowup in his face. It just simply meant that that ONE thing he tried to do “failed”

so as someone who was hoping for some “For Science!” Type of content in Wilson’s rework, it sounds lacking- but of course I’m an Xbox DST player and can’t accurately judge this rework until it’s out of Beta and playable on my console, but sadly by then: most the changes to the character are already finalized.

And unless Klei wants to cleverly explain that he experimented with adding different chemicals/powders to his torches to extend their effectiveness, this feels way way off from the “FOR SCIENCE!” rework I was expecting.

the Alchemy & beard storage perks on the other-hand do sort of feel “science-ey” enough I guess.. I mean I can picture Wilson crafting his own special kind of hair gel that not only helps his beard grow out faster, but also allows foods stashed inside to be preserved like being put into an icebox.

Maybe that’s what it should’ve been though.. instead of just being a passive skill tree perk, maybe he should’ve got beakers and science labs, to Craft said “Hair Gel” idk.. I’m just spitballing ideas here the torch skill tree would make ALOT more sense to me if Wilson had a science lab to craft some potent powder to “Apply” to his Torches to give them that longer lasting, shining brighter effect.

Not only THAT, but Then Wilson would have some actual “TEAM” based perks…

He could give the Beard Hair Gel to Webber or even Wormwood to help their beards grow faster (bloom faster) Torches could have their durability extended for everyone and not just be a skill tree perk that’s Wilson exclusive.

You guys get the idea.

Wait what...? I thought this whole time the torch toss was a combat thing like you throw a torch at an enemy to do ranged fire damage or something.

Pretty interesting he can use torches like lanterns now huh

Not gonna lie, that would actually be awesome.. like a super cheap Firestaff option.

It would make hunting easier. No need to prototype boomerang just for that. (Or wait night time so the koalefant goes to sleep). It is not much but I would use it.

you can use the edges of the land to hit them with melee weapon
