Who Gets First Dibs.

Recommended Posts

So I was wondering, with the wide expance of different characters and different recorces needed for their abilities, if there was a recource that in your opinion should go to a spicific roll (this is just for fun and curiosity when it comes to characters needs)

Along with that what is something those characters should not have at all or last dibs on? here are my thoughts, feel free to agree/dissagre/debate!

Willow
should get first? beefolo hat/thermal stone due to the cold being extra effective to her
should get last? chilled amulet/heat resistant foods due to heat resistance

Wolfgang

should get first? Tam O'Shanter/tophat. the sanity buffs will help offset the drain he has
should get last? darksword and darkarmor, not only does wolfgans extra atk power make up for this, the sanity loss is not worth it in a large game

Wendy

should get first? as a passive attacker I would like to say wendy would be more inclined twords ranged weapons and speed boost items
should get last? not much besides possibly passive light scorces such ans the lune moth bet as abigail can stand in for that

WX-78

should get first? Eye brella, water in spring can be a killer, plain and simple
should get last? Moggles, walking cane, and pretty much any other item that could be replaced with one of wx circuts

Wickerbottom

should get first? sanity food and bee queen helmit, wicks books are a major sanity drainer and the extrea help is great (bone helm if able)
should get last? well.. its kind of a cop out answer but sanity draining items, mostly for luner island but her sanity drain does not have much harm as she will NEVER BE PUT TO SLEEP, so she just gets sligthly slower but is still able to move around

Woodie

should get first? Monster meat, for his idols, as well as recruiting followers as they will last longer.
should get last? axes first of all, and well, thats about it

Wes,

should get first? Puting all jokes aside, if someone is serious about wes I couls see more sanity items and foods as well since he can make baloons with them, you could also say tools since the turibility will last longer
should get last? any close and personal weapons (wes be squishy)

Maxwell

should get first? nightmare fule, book duribility and crafting (also jellybeans)
should get last? opposite of wes and wickerbottom any sanity item, while useful to maxwell, he just gains too much for it to be a pirority

Wigfrid

should get first? gold and rocks, the armor is amazing and cheap (also jelly beans PT2 electric boogaloo)
should get last? besides veggies and fruit, wigfrid wouldn't need most other armor besides her own as her damage absorbtion is already top notch

Webber

should get first? monster foods, and honey, for nurse switcherdoodles
should get last? any spider items as they should be easy to come by for him

Winona

should get first? rocks rocks and more rocks, catapults are hungry for those flingy things, silk is also nice for tape
should get last? hard to say as she doesn't have much of a major upgrade to anything.maybe sewing kits because of her duct tape

warly

should get first? thermal pack, soooo useful for warlys ingreadients. also first pick at select crops for his special dishes
should get last? any cooked plain food, as well as pretty much any weapons as warly is more of a base persons

Walter

should get first? marbel, for ammo
should get last? Chester, he already has one.

Wortox

should get first? access to cartographers table and things to make maps so he can explore for people
should get last? Lazy explorer and any food item. he eccentualy IS a lazy explorer

Wormwood

should get first? SEEEEEEEEDS, and stingers
should get last? Hoes, digamagigs and gardening hat. Wormwood is all those things

Wurt

should get first? pig drops, for that sweet merm king
should get last? besides meat, as they can basically not use it. the eyebrella as the wetness resistance is a gimme

Wanda

should get first? purple gems, thulicite fragments, and mac tusks, instant teleportation for the whole family!
should get last? AAAALLLL healing items. Can not use

Wilson

ok saved this one for last cause well.... not only does he have basically no downsides or upsides (beard) his refresh has not gone live yet so for now I thingk im just going to leave this one by itself

should get first? ???
should get last? ???

well, that is what I could gather, from my experiance with the characters, again this is not the be all end all just some random thoughts I had at 2AM so feel free to take me down a peg if I forgot something really obvious lol.

I won't do all the characters, just the ones I play a lot.  I'll lean more on player priority then party priority though, these are the things I look for early / mid game.

Willow should get sewing kit and beard hair.  I feel its great when you can have a few bernies b/c they can be easily misplaced, and if you're using them to tank you don't wanna get caught without a spare or repair.

She should not bother with a torch or marble suit.

Wolfgang should get magiluminescence and blue caps / kelp fronds.  Since his rework I don't like running around without carrying a bell b/c I'll go wimpy.  Magi lets me get a movement boost and small light aura while my hands still carry weights.  This way I'm always mighty when I need to switch to a weapon to fight, or a tool for work.  Blue caps and kelp fronds keep the hunger and health topped off while keeping sanity low to farm fuel for the magi, as well as future dark swords.

As Wolfgang I avoid football helmets and walking canes.  Canes drop me to wimpy too fast and football helmets aren't needed b/c you can just switch your magi for armor when you fight.  Wolfgang chops trees faster so its not a problem to get log suits until you can get marble going.

Wendy should get an ornery beefalo and piggy pack.  Her damage penalty doesn't apply when she's riding a beef, so going ornery with a war saddle gives her pretty good consistent damage.  Normally I don't like ornery beefs b/c they are less convenient needing to be fed before riding, but Abi can usually distract things enough to get mounted if you're caught off guard.  b/c she's on beef AND she's a great farmer she should get a piggy pack early to carry all the goods back to camp.

She really shouldn't bother with special armors or night mare farming.

Woodie should get idols, milk hats and jellybeans.  I don't usually stay as Woodie very long, but getting goose form to scout out lunar and especially moon quay is very useful.  Since he always comes out of his transformations with zero hunger the milk hat is a decent item.  It doesn't spoil, and can be used for small periods between transformations without wasting too much.  Jelly beans are obviously really good for recovering health while in were form.

Woodie should avoid night vision goggles.  Just eat an idol if you want to see in the dark lol

Winona - Rocks, marble, boards, rope, GEMS, everything.  Winona's ability to set up kill boxes is amazing.

Winona should avoid the first 100 days of the game.

Warly should get goat, honey and tall bird farms going asap, and a beef too.  Maybe not ornery like Wendy b/c he doesn't have Abi to distract if he needs to get on in a pinch.  A normal with war saddle is good enough.  The saddle brings the beef up to 50 damage which is a pretty good breakpoint for farming and hounds, and a chaud froid kicks this up to 75 or 125 if the target is wet.  With farms set up early you'll have all the chaud froid you want, too.  Don't forget you can feed your beef garlic spice for extra tankiness.  Tall bird farms are great for Warly b/c meaty stew and scotch eggs perfectly rotate around his dietary downside.  2 dishes is all you need.

Warly should avoid - gardening too early.  Gardening is such a commitment and chili is a pretty small payoff without chaud froid.  Get the beef, tall birds, goats and honey going first.  Look at garlic, chili and dragonfruit first summer or second autumn at the soonest.  Also remember if you're riding a beef, you have to feed them the spice for the benefit.  So don't chili spice your chaud froid.

Wanda should get blue caps and magiluminescence.  Staying insane is high priority to feed the whip.  Magi and night armor both use nm fuel too, and shadow creatures are super easy to farm for her, so stay crazy.

Wanda should avoid cooked cactus, and enough early walrus tusks so that ppl who want a cane can get one before she starts building her teleport network.

Your post, OP, is pretty self-explanatory if about a group of friends/acquaintances going at game in efficient and fair-play mindset, taking into consideration certain scarcities. This rarely happens in bulk player-base: either people play alone personal servers - hence the concept's superfluous; or, in pubs environment, it devolves into "all for themselves" - you get what you're able to take down/find/farm/etc. Even if going the altruistic extra-mile, most randoms you may give loot to will suddenly disconnect from server with said loot, never-to-be-seen-again, not bothering returning it prior to de-log (probably not understanding its rarity, sharing, or even taking such concepts into account). My take: is ok to prioritize your altruism, but most times amounts to nothing in relation to strangers.

bro give your tam o shanter to wortox first. believe me

Wortox or Warly.  Warly can't eat non-crock pot foods and gets a penalty for eating the same food multiple times.  Keeping sanity up for him is tough too.

I definitely wouldn't give it to Wolfgang first b/c he's better staying low sanity, farming nm monsters for dark swords / armor.

Just talking about my mains,

Warly gets royal jelly and bundling wraps from bee queen, since he is the food man and healing is more difficult on him. He gets the thick fur from bearger. He doesn't get priority on anything else

Maxwell gets all the fuel weaver drops. He doesn't get priority on anything else.

so curious why u said this, please explain thank you

i play winona all the time in klei server because there's usually no one who plays her and i just ask the 100k wendys to get silk while i hoard rocks and gems

whoever got said resource keeps it unless someone else asks for it and they don't mind handing it

this whole thread is really weird in assuming that everyone playing a particular character will always want or even benefit from the same things, this is much more playstyle dependent than it is character dependent

true true, it is more of a thought experiment of who can get different receorces fast and easy compared to not able to fast if at all.

I find her hunger tax / craft time penalty to be very annoying early game where you're crafting intermittently and don't have the luxury of food choice.  She no perks for gathering the mountains of materials she wants for her setups either.  Maxwell, Woodie, Wolfgang or Walry could probably get you the stone, logs and gems you want for your setups letting you swap to her and just save time.

Of all the characters I really hope Klei revisits her kit.  If she had some early game gathering perks that complimented her structure based game play it would mean a lot.  I really like Winona and have played her a lot, its just seeing the hunger drain extra early game because you're crafting only here and there, and especially getting caught where you want to craft a new armor or weapon but you're suffering her CRAZY 2x crafting speed penalty (worse than old Wanda smh) makes it more annoying than rewarding when I start placing catapults :\

I disagree with this, because it’s also dependent on player skill level AND that is tied directly to which character they play as AND their knowledge of that particular characters Strengths/Weaknesses.

For Example: I have a friend whom absolutely loves playing as WX78, but has not played the game much and more importantly DOES NOT come to these forums or Read patch notes- so this friend is completely unaware that rain is now extremely deadly to WX78.

Meanwhile: the players playing WURT (Florp) may not be aware that Wurt has complete immunity to Wetness effects (thanks to her strong grip perk not allowing tools to slip from her paws) So WURT needs to IGNORE using Parasols, Strawhats, Umbrellas & Eyebrella and IMMEDIATELY give those items to the literally “Dying” WX78.

thats a fair point! I didn't even consider the people playing the characters untill now (I guess I was thinking of them more of their game role) i suppose player level should also factor in!
