They are petals! Every time you place a petal in an end table they have a chance of spawning a certain variety of flower boutique. I cycled through each of them until I got my desired boutique type (I felt these ones complimented the carnival lights the most). It is RNG so took me over a stack of petals to get the ones I wanted :’) pain

wait really? i have never gotten this variant before! i might have to burn through a stack to see if i can get lucky then, thankyou!

Oh I feel like you'd like this mod recommendation then. It's called Lasting Endtable Decorations. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1255189699
You can put them into the endtable, then cycle through all boutique types by hammering the table to get the one you like the most.

Ahhhh tysm! This will be super helpful, the mod I use for additional sweeping options doesn't add this feature so I'm glad there is a mod that exists for it! The sweeping mod I do use is the Clean Sweeper Expanded mod, it makes these things sweepable:

By default:
+ Flowers, Evil Flowers
+ Ferns, Potted Fern
+ Succulents, Potted Succulent
+ Marble Shrub, Birchnut Trees, Cacti
+ Carnival Event Decor: Miniature Tree, Cawnival Statuette, Midsummer Night Light
+ Shell Bells (variation, not octave)

Optional (default off):
+ Evergreen <=> Lumpy Evergreen
+ Grass <=> Reeds
+ Sapling <=> Twiggy Tree
+ Mushroom <=> Mushtree
+ Berrybushes (Types with configuration options)
+ Potted Plants (DST) (workshop Id: 1311366056)

Superrrr duper useful imo.

Oh yes I use it too! Super helpful for getting the right kind of flowers/potted plants/cawnival decor. I don't use it for berrybushes since the Wormwood skill tree though. And other stuff that's off by default I always turn off. Heh, I didn't even know it could swipe shell bells and marble shrubs! I must have turned it off. What does it do to birchnut trees? Just the foliage color? I wish it worked on potted versions.

Today my Wanda celebrates day 7777 in her Dressing Room! :wilson_love:

image.png.2e2d36ab350e8f48321f24621260866b.png

I decided to take this opportunity to showcase my most used build in this world.

Wanda's Dressing Room

This build is pretty close to the middle of the base. It's adjacent to my storage, kitchen, apiary and lazy deserter area which I often use to call friends back to the base when they play with me. And most importantly my teleport hub is close to the two farms that run only when loaded - Bunnymen Spider farm and Grass Gecko Monkey farm.

image.png.1b09bcd258ee3d4b1822e8c1a6ea59d6.png

This is my teleport hub for the entire map as well as a convenient place to drop off some loot.
image.png.623c957e9cbfb0ce79a1b4581bd599fd.png
I built it around a marble clockwork setpiece that I left unmined. Almost all big scaled chests have 6 teleports in each, but some are still empty (mostly the ones in the further section. I also store my personal gear and tools in smaller chests in between them.

image.png.e41ea6028fdf7a4d473124be92c0ae02.png
On the left side I have a little festive tree with chests for ornament storing (my world is permanently in Winter's Feast just because I like collecting ornaments). When it gets filled with full stacks of baubles/ornaments, I transfer them to my large Winter's Feast storage.

image.png.9f4135ee1d9f61e03d6eb3083be26978.png

On the right side I have cartographer's desk for quickly erasing duplicate sketches/blueprints/adverts. After packing each boss chest with 36 figure sketches I'm now erasing them. Some unlabeled chests are for temporary junk that I need to quickly drop off, or stuff that doesn't have its dedicated place yet.

image.png.c8036d1a8cca0e5b79a2b215eaab7a02.png

In the middle I have a "dressing cabinet" with come chairs, a scaled furnace and fridge for emergency thermal swapping.

image.png.34dd0a984e0cb8a694ce2d429080c7aa.png

"Home" anchor spot with a scaled chest full of home teleports. They all lead to this place, and every time I come back from somewhere, I swap my home watch with a new one. Lifegiving amulets come in handy quite often - I get carried away with building and die of old age more often than I'd like to admit haha. Funny because I rarely die in actual fights. Amulet pile is sponsored by Mr. Klaus, of course!

In case you wanna take a peek inside those scaled chests:

I'd love to have a 100% Scrappy Chapauldron to mark the area but 20% is the highest I managed to get from this stupid boss. Can't even repair it :wilson_cry:

Rarely visited ocean teleports: Pearl x2, Moon Quay x2, Safety voltgoat island

Waterlogged.  I love ocean trees! Each row of teleports goes to the same waterlogged biome. I was able to surround all three of them with docks in my world, but only recently started working on the third one. Not sure what to mark it with, I'm running out of ideas. Maybe fireflies?

As usual, thanks for reading!

LOVE all of your builds so much!! Super gorgeous.

Grass Gecko Pen

Today I'm showing one of my most important farms in the game - it produces tons of grass passively. All the credit for the farm idea with the monkey inside goes to Gabriel Gabriel's YT channel where I saw it for the first time.

image.png.c55c668a0d2ee74faf57c423708f50e7.png
I placed the pen close to the areas I visit often - about 1 screen away from my teleport hub. This way it gets loaded frequently as I walk by, and keeps producing grass.

image.png.a28d4e7f1f294012a842741532234efd.png

I have 24 grass geckos in the pen. I spawned them before activating lunar rifts from bunched up grass in the place where this pen now is. I then enclosed them with a fence and placed a telelocator focus in the middle. Here's a quick summary of how the farm works since Gabriel's tutorial seem to be no longer available on YT:

  • Step 1: Socket the telelocator focus in the pen with 3 purple gems.
  • Step 2: Go to Moon Quay with a telelocator staff.
  • Step 3: Wait for the Unnatural Portal to start spawning things (or activate it by giving it a moongleam)
  • Step 4: Once a monkey appears out of the portal, teleport it before it picks anything up (this way its inventory stays empty with 20 free slots).
  • Step 5: Go back to the base. Monkey will scare grass geckos and pick up grass after them.
  • Step 6: Observe monkey's behavior and try to make sure that it doesn't get stuck by a fence trying to pick up something outside of the pen (a grass or a seed). If it does get stuck, pick up the item and walk away to deaggro the monkey.
  • Step 7: If monkey stopped picking up the grass and there's a lot on the floor, it means its inventory is now full and it's time to harvest grass. Walk in, kill the monkey, collect ~20 stacks of grass it drops, clean up any remains on the floor, socket the gems again.
  • Step 8: Go to Moon Quay with a banana to get rid of the token, repeat Step 1 if you need more grass.

Currently I have more than 4096 grass in that infinite chest near it, and over a thousand ropes, so the monkey went on unpaid leave until I need more grass.

image.png.c44c505d8a46300f7fbae94a06dc9b48.png

Corner designs. I left the scales empty so they don't obscure the pumpkin face behind it.

image.png.54f27d99b11e8306b41120de75bb53ad.png

This design has a small flaw: When the monkey is inside, it tries to pick up decorative basket bunny traps, so I have to pick them up and store away when the pen is working. Sometimes frog rains also waste trap durability so I need to re-craft them.

image.png.64506c14f75760f7bef4ff8eb78de31f.png

Monkey's workplace with waxed decorative grass tufts.

image.png.c9fe97b899aad7b971ed3fd5639285d7.png

I got some rabbits from tumbleweeds and couldn't find a better place to put them in. Later I rescued all the stray rabbits from the ruins and added them here as well. They keep my geckos company and like to cuddle together in the middle of the pen when the monkey is not there.

image.png.bc7bce9b281db267cbab5d1fe1b516da.png

Bonus picture: Working farm with monkey's inventory overfilled with grass: time for a cleanup! Before infinite chest I had all these chests there to store grass and rope in them. So convenient now with only one chest!

silly question; if i want to just manually pick up the grass myself is there an ideal passive mob i can put in there to scare the geckos instead?

Yes, I've seen people put chester there, or trap a bunnyman in the middle without a hut. But a passive mob setup would generate tons of lag by all the grass that will bunch up, unless you clean the pen regularly. One thing I also forgot to mention: to avoid geckos glitching through the walls, make the pen spacious and they will all sit in the middle of it. Mine is 6x6 pitchfork tiles (just the fenced area) with cutoff corners.

i am one of those weirdos that likes to clean & tidy, so lag wouldnt be that big of an issue for me most of the time. thankyou<3<3

Wobot or W.I.N.bot are also worth a try. I don't know if they will scare geckos though but they'll do a great job at picking up and storing all the grass. The chest needs to be inside the pen though for this to work. My Wobot is permanently busy cleaning up nearby bunnymen spider farm so I can't put it there.

Sproutrock Island, home to my otters and (of course) my sproutrocks! The otters help me amass bottles for treasure hunts, which I can then use to get surprising seeds for more sproutrocks (so I can keep rolling the chances for a 12-day growth time)

Color filter in these pics is lush season cause summer physically hurts my eyes, haha

Hello everyone!! I adore this thread, and everyone's gorgeous builds!! Megabasing is one of my favourite things about DST, especially for late-game, and I've been experimenting with different themed bases for different characters, so I thought I'd start sharing with my overgrown-garden theme for Wendy! (Half creative, half survival world; evening spring lighting.)

Wendy's Overgrown Garden:

456061359_2217638468606247_7557880945474156357_n.png.7eb04e6c47b67d8b09b37a3e03abbd7c.png

Overview of the build, with a couple of the other little decorative garden zones encroaching on the sides. Lots of bananas for Wendy's banana pops, and I love using the snurtle armor in garden builds so I can pretend there are snails living among the plants. (Need to farm a giant pumpkin and dragonfruit for the other two crop scales too, oops!) The centre area has all the fertilizers, garden tools, and bundled seeds in the dragonfly chests. (I'm so in love with the new salt box skins for this build too! Super cottagecore!) With summer coming up, though, I'm regretting putting the scaled furnace so close to the seed ice boxes...

Close-up of the centre and the side garden plots:

455004848_517369617464293_4008928225741583536_n.png.0697d7d9e9983e90a6a2750f9ebe14d4.png

Since walls can't be placed as close to structures anymore, I decided to go with geometric drop and a rock trim, which actually turned out maybe even better than the walls.

Here's the garden at night, full of fireflies, and an aerial overview of the entire build, with my lightning rod hidden in the berry bushes and a canary saying hello:

Follow-up to Wendy's garden, here's the little cottagecore Wendy kitchen I've been working on lately... bananas, berry bushes, and bearger statues hiding in some bushes (because bearger loves to eat too!)

Cottagecore Kitchen:

wendykitchen6.png.2773e7b86df95d54bcdbaa4255888db3.png

I've been decorating most builds with sisterns, so it's easy to refresh them with flowers no matter where I am in the base, and also because they're just so pretty, so I built my crockpot meal chests (full of bundled sanity, health, and hunger food) around them. In the top chests, I keep most of my common ingredients, meat on the left and everything else on the right. (Evening, spring-green colour.) Close-up:

Thanks so much for reading!! Next, I'm building my beefalo pens, and though I don't have a developer's graveyard in my world, I'm considering messing around with the setpiece to make a ghosty garden-themed pig farm.

Hello all! I've been super busy, but here's the Developer's Graveyard ghostly pig farm I talked about last post! I took some inspiration from @cybers2001's gorgeous graveyard build, but turned it into a pig/ghost farm. (I don't know why the photos have decided to be different sizes, but oh well, they don't want to be consistent for me...)

ghostfarmdst1.png.b06f8e1755caab81c8f7f3e30af23a11.png

The Graveyard itself. "Another life cut short." --Wendy.

ghostfarmdst2.png.3e1bb09c89f924385587088e9fed04b4.png

If I ever redo this build, I think I'll try to find a way to build the pigs closer to the ghosts, because ghosts seem to disappear back into thin air after a moment if they have nothing really nearby to attack. Some of the middle ghosts never get to the pigs on the two sides, but the ones that do are usually enough to kill them, especially with Abigail's help.

ghostfarmdst4.png.ec46b9e8b1b960add9274c94d5350cf9.png

Some cosy night-time photos of Wendy's flower garden/camping spot. Poor Wendy is haunted by nightmares... at least Abigail is there to keep her company.

ghostfarmdst5.png.8a095e40484418f4c47dbb15b56c46e3.png

Wendy and Abigail, staring into your soul:

ghostfarmdst6.png.1e12aa724525bbe10b53bccd17b3c936.png

On the full moon, all the ghosts come out, ready to kill werepigs! I think this farm works especially well with Wendy since ghosts are neutral to her, and Abigail can help her fellow ghosts haunt the pigs.

ghostfarmdst8.png.48b655d9036893cfef50840844ad72b5.png

And, lastly, the graveyard is a perfect place to farm mourning glories. Every time I complete a pipspook quest, another pops up like two seconds later. Ghostly elixirs forever:

Wendy's Gloomthorn and Sproutrock builds! Next I need to find a way to fit more sproutrocks in while still making it pretty, like @chirsg's gloomberry orchard! But rocky turf is so ugly underneath the Sproutrocks, so we'll see. (I finally got the images to be the right size again, hurray!)

The Gloomthorn, lunar-themed:

And at night:

And the Sproutrock, more archives/thulecite-themed:

Seeing others showing their Gloomthorn builds made me want to showcase mine - I only planted two on my map so far but I'm really happy with how they fit into my existing build. This also gives me an excuse to show off my main library (yes, there is another one - more on that later)!

Wickerbottom's Library

I placed it very close to the middle of my Oasis base, it's used pretty often when I play Wicker, and my husband mains Maxwell on the same map so it's perfect for him as well.
image.png.3ec31d2858bfd43373c974f176a0f415.png

Zoomed out view of the build, with some nearby builds (parts of my storage area and central hub/beefalo parking):

Fully illuminated at night, of course!
image.png.19da1c6a8676afa1e3472bff3eef04c2.png

Close-up of the main room with book storage. This collection has 4 copies of each book only, and is mostly a back-up in case one book in other cabinet somewhere on the map gets destroyed and needs replacement. Other places in my world have certain books that are used in those locations specifically (say, I'd have a book case in a fish farm full of fishing books, or birds of the world in my feather farm). This is also where I store my papyrus, feather pencils, lost scrapbook pages and other Wicker-related things:
image.png.ce83dab0bd1c6025814472604ee163e6.png

Here's my epic blueprint storage:
image.png.6a6c54d44b5bde291ae193f36cb4e489.png
I don't know how to mark blueprint chests yet, kinda wish I could write letters on mini-signs. All those brown chests hold common blueprints which I sorted alphabetically. I like collecting them and I kept one copy of a blueprint for each unique item that I managed to find.

The chests go all the way from A... image.png.6a0aa26eada49644022aa6120644a70d.png

...to W
image.png.563bc90bb282ea3d0ca9349f3a8ecf6f.png

On the right side there are also chests for non-boss figure sketches that I only recently learned that I can draw on signs, so I didn't get to mark all of the chests yet: image.png.b8522c2caa112c76524436fa4aeb496d.png

Rare non-boss blueprints are stored here (Wagstaff things, Moon Quay ones, ruins relics etc). I also collect recipe cards, one per dish - but unfortunately it seems that some dishes don't have one. I haven't found a new recipe card in a long while. image.png.21e2bb7ed7b3f299a8903d7c8932b1f2.png

Gloomthorn corners. My world is old enough that I don't need to rely on them for my main source of light (I main CC crown and also have bundles with glowberry mouse and other light solutions in different parts of the world (glowcaps, starcallers, mooncallers etc). But I still harvest and bundle these nightberries in case Warly gets a future dish with them. image.png.ef4308780259b216375acdf007f7e2e6.png

Some other details. I wish I could load those table lamps with permanent light as well, they look so cool! I also wish chairs didn't have collisions. It sucks when followers like beefalo get stuck between chairs and tables when I put them too close, so I had to space them out a bit. image.png.adcfcf5429b85b0fee92780242201a87.png
