Part 5 of Wendy's Garden Base: The Banana Garden

Moon Quay island proved elusive in this world (sailed around painted sea stacks 3+ times before I finally found it!), but since Wendy decided she didn't have bananas growing in enough spots already, I used this little bit of extra space between my copies of @Lovens's Brightshade Gardens to make her a banana garden! Featuring a true-to-life butterfly drawing, some birdcages that used to have puffins in them, and a hidden bloomfin tuna! bananagarden.png.8db6ce84304586012228631b7356d618.png

And at night, with fireflies and also the missing puffins:

Thanks for reading!! Another very spring-y build for the moment, but maybe some Hallowed Nights builds in the true Wendy spirit coming soon??

Since I asked about boss arenas a little while ago, here's the one I build for Antlion!

Antlion Arena:

(Wendy says "You are here.") I kind of wish I'd built the Antlion arena first so I could've had it centred below my Maxwell's graveyard pig farm... but oh well. I'll have to come up with another idea for the empty space to the side.

antlionarena5.png.f5a2f57eff7fd94d913c464ca5a20dfa.png

Full view: I went for a lunar theme (I wonder if we'll ever get a possessed variant of Antlion...) with some beach turf in the middle. There used to be seashells along the sides, but I discovered pretty quickly that Antlion smashes them up instantly upon starting the fight, so I had to do away with those.

Side details, complete with Wendy's signature banana circles and mannequins with fire staves and desert goggles. I finally finished adding all the glass castles to the sides, and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out:

Nighttime lighting (it's a little dark in the centre, but not enough to die to Charlie, and with enlightened crown it doesn't matter much):

And the arena in summer, welcoming Antlion back to the world. "Do you know any riddles?" -- Wendy

Fighting Antlion... (sorry for the HP bar mod... didn't feel like turning it off) Wendy, Abigail, and Abby the Beefalo vs. Antlion:

I recently got back into DST after lurking in the forums for a while. And I couldn't believe my eyes when this thread was brought up again! so nice to see the wonderful creations people made. :)

Then one day I decided to do a woodie only run and here is the base so far after 1K days, here's to more days to experience the endgame after beating Celestial Champ!

When I built my base I decided to build it in the deciduous biome with the pig king which is next to a moose pond, the crab king spawn and a cave entrance. The former two I'm still decorating but the latter I made and might tweak later down the line but I do quite like this cave entrance area with batillisk killing bunnies.image.jpeg.54d1391e7463f5e839c04bf2e550d321.jpeg

trying to mix the rose bush and new succulent skin ..
and finally i think i can use those broken wall skin for little rock pathway

This is absolutely gorgeous. May I ask what is the item/skin that you use around the succulent/bush?

After 80 days of hobo living and using the ground as my storage, I have finally moved into another temporary enclosure. I love the look of Victorian stonewall + Maize hay wall, which I used to build 2-layer thick wall that feels really cozy and safe. I've never been a fan of megabase with functional square zones and cobble road like they're intersections ): so I built this enclosure with Walter's personality in mind, being a boy scout and all, so trees and flowers and succulent pots (soon). I want a rustic, homely looks that feels lived in, so if anyone can share building tips I'd love to hear 'em. The next items for my survival needs are: bees + resource garden, pig village, and farming plots. This is another world after I learnt from this: forum post.

Building without endgame items (Enlightened Crown, Lamps,..) kinda suck--

Hey gang, I'm here and I have many screenshots to share, but first I just wanted to thank and congratulate every single person in this thread. You're all amazing, every single one of you. Such creative and stunning designs on display here! It truly is an honor to have you share your designs with us. This game, and its community continues to blow me away after nearly a decade. Much love to each and every one of you out there! <3
Now bear with me, because I come armed with some 30+ screenshots and I'm not afraid to overshare with way too many background details. Some expectations should be kept in checked though. None of my stuff is going to be as grand and spectacular as some others here (those Boss Arena designs?!?! damn girl :wilson_love:) and that's partially because this is still a recently started world in its infancy with many grand undeveloped plans in motion, I look forward to sharing an update some couple thousand days forward lol. But it's also because I play on console. No mods, NO GEOMETRIC PLACEMENT my friends. You would not BELIEVE the time I waste trying to line up some damn chests in a straight line and in the end it's never perfect...

Anyway, first up, some overview shots of the map and the central area of my main base!

The base has been built in a Forest biome and experiences a lot of tree re-growth issues as I have an addiction to using Grass turf. It is the superior turf and I will not be convinced otherwise. I agree with mylilsunshine that I'm not a fan of the typical Megabase cobblestone highways, I like to keep mine a bit more natural looking. I still need to add a lot of the finer decoration details to most of these areas you'll see now that I'm fairly happy with how everything is placed, more flowers, berry bushes etc to fill in the empty gaps of grass. Please note that I have made absolutely no effort to clean up the random out of place items lying around for this photo shoot, I make no apologies for my gremlin behaviour <3

My tried and true kitchen design, inspiration drawn from DemonRebuilt over on Youtube/Twitch. Yes the crockpots on the left are slightly too far out... They were one of the first structures placed at the start of our save. I was trying to line the crockpots up meticulously, meanwhile my partner was starving to death behind me. Whoops. Anyway still haven't gotten around to fixing them yet. There's a slightly better view of a little Warly offshoot to the Kitchen as well there, very much a haphazardly thrown together thing, I'd like to take the time to build more dedicated areas for each of the characters.

Just past the kitchen leads us straight into the garden! It's small but produces more food than two people can ever possibly eat. The grass and twigs area will need to be reworked, leftovers from the start of the save that need an update.

And now a quick look at the storage area with opposing lunar and shadow crafting areas. I'm trying to design them as mirror opposites, down to the placements of the lunar/living trees, and the moon saplings/twiggy trees. The shadow crafting area is a bit better developed than the lunar one which still needs a lot of clean up, and I think some relic furniture from down in the ruins will help flesh out the space around the centre of both areas but overall I'm quite pleased with how these zones are coming together.

And here's my little personal dock! A simple design but I think it's quite effective, the sails can make it a bit frustrating to see is the only issue. Most of the chests are just waiting to be moved somewhere as decoration at the moment. DontStarveTogether_ConsoleEdition_20241115163459.jpg.2578e3fba1ec047c0ac831cd2ed417b2.jpg

Well! That was certainly a lot, I still have more I can share but I probably shouldn't jam too much into this one post. Thank you for taking the time to check out my builds! I hope you enjoyed them as much as I've enjoyed all of yours, I'm sure the next time I share a major update you'll be able to see the influence of all the amazing creators on here in my work.

A quick bonus shot of my most recent build on a spot for my Ice Crystalizer. Needs some more antlion spiked on the corners.

so i must confess a lot of why i dont share is because i keep little piles of clutter on the ground so i don't forget stuff when changing my kit(or making tools because i always forget i already have some in a chest and only remembering when i add the new one to said chest that the others exist). this heartens me to see confirmation of what i know to be true; others sometimes have messy bases too.

also i absolutely adore "nature" bases<3<3 i have no eye for them mysef but they are so soothing to look at~ thankyou or sharing<3<3

With the recent poll made by @GetNerfedOn I thought I would share my Chess Board. You can indeed play chess in dst, cumbersome but doable, you can even have spectators lol. Never seen anyone with a similar build, most just use turf but it either doesn’t look good or it looks twice the size. Using broken walls with the gothic skin made white tiles possible on a scaled turf (Can use beard hair turf as well). I call it Beefalo Chess.

IMG_2830.jpeg.def94ed2e949c74b117f5ac3a5fd624b.jpeg

I plan on adding some Winona lights so they can follow the player and light the board during the night, should probably spread some fireflies on each space as well. And of course add more decorations, maybe festive trees with baby crows to watch the whole thing.

When placing structures, stations, and amenities, what is the place order for the most space efficiency? Like should I place down a wall then my structures, or the other way around? And when should I place flowers and tree seeds?

I don’t know the actual terms for sizes but 1 turf = 6x6 “blocks” or walls/fences. When building do structures first and then walls. Walls and fences take the least amount of space of any structure (Literally their size of 1 ”block”) if said structure isn’t obstructing a block/wall space you should be fine building anything. Same with “live structures”, plants, flowers, trees… Those tend to take a lot more space than their actual visual size. Start your builds with structures but have the walls placement in mind so you can build them later.

It looks very good, but the White King is on black squares, and the Black King is on white squares. ̄□ ̄||
