Direction issues

Could you elaborate what are the issues?

I'd played with peoples who love turning camera like crazy. And it's hard to communicate with them, explain were they should go ect.

If there were a button to set camera to default view, like after reconnect to the world, it would be cool I think

I meant the issues of the Compass.

There is nothing issues with compass. I meant it just because it was added in single player game for similar reason, but now have more unique uses, so adding an ability to set camera to default is not game breaking and useful I think

Tell your friends you can face north by rotating the camera and moving in all diagonal directions.

If the tiles are lined up like diamonds, your character is facing forward when walking diagonally up, and your character is facing horizontally when walking diagonally down, your camera is facing north.

Congratulations you can now rotate your camera and keep track of your directions and feel like the embodiment of the nerd emoji while doing so.

I think pressing one button is a lot easier, then trying to explain my friends something like this

I am a person that rotates their camera all the time when playing.  compass still works but I have learned to never use cardinal directions.

I tend to use the map as describing directions instead of stating a cardinal direction.

like let the person explore and find biomes  LIke using opposite of mosaic go through deciduous
Close to df desert or oasis desert.

talking like that also helps a person understand the biome names  and where everything is located.

There is an easy cheesy way to do that.

  1. Turn camera that you want to use as default with your friends.
  2. Put two different object (that visible on map) to somewhere, like a trap and a sign.
  3. Make one of them upper, like the trap is upper than sign.
  4. Now whenever you guys try to show a thing in map, make that trap go up of sign by rotating map.
  5. Done!

Alternatively, you can just find a landmark and make a note of how it's relative to spawn in the default camera direction, that's what I always do.

Its not for directions only, it's about camera view at all. I prefer being in default view, but sometimes, on the sea, or in the ruins, it's hard to return to default.

Also, as a little QoL, Klei can add new default at server settings. Now we see the world diagonal, but for some structures could be better, if camera look straight. I saw lot of megabases video, and most of them was in straight view. Its means, that people join into the world and should turn camera to their view, so why not make it switchable?

We need a button to turn camera to default position.

There is a client mod I use for exactly that: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1187720264

The default key is C, which opens the crafting menu now, so you have to rebind it to something else.

Thank you, kind man

You can always use already awailable things in game to mark notable spots or help with orientation: moonlenses, compass and flairs are in the game just for that purpose... like building a wind rose out of 2-5 moonlenses since they are visible for every player.

If you dont like those ingame awailable features, just use a mod... and if ur on console and dislike those features, tough luck...

How I handle this with friends:

"Wait, if I walk to this rock now... is this up for you too?"

"No, it's to the left."

"Oh, okay, turn your camera then."

"No, you'd better turn yours."

"No, you should turn yours..."

"No, you..."

To be continued.

Exactly the same)

I installed that mode, will try today

Would be great if north was indicated on the full-screen map.

Just craft a compass it's not expensive I see no reason to remove the use of a item just because people don't want to use it and even then flares are a thing too.

But who actually carries a compass around with them at any given time?
