Wow, is this intended?

Recommended Posts

I discovered something funny.

Idk if the people already know about this but this has to be one of the best things wickerbottom got during the rework. thats why im trying to know if this is intended or not. Are ya ready?

Wicker can use everything encyclopedia to unlock tier 2 magic stuff, yep she just need a scince machine now :0. At first i thought that the recipes using the book were temporary but no, you actually unlock the recipe, so if you want for example mass farm dark swords during early game you just need to use everything encyclopedia one time :0. So yeah thats all, what do you think?

I think it’s intended yes- as it is the “Everything” Encyclopedia- it would not make sense for it to only temporarily unlock crafting options.

Also apparently if you read this book near other players it also unlocks crafting recipes for them as well however-

I think you have a limited time frame in which you can craft after using this book, but the recipes you unlock remain permanently unlocked.

it wouldn’t make sense to “temporarily” learn how to craft something- and it would make this book way too annoying/make other players way too demanding of Wicker to use it.

I think it might work if this or an improved book of the second tier with a similar effect would be like Brain of Thought from Shipwreck. That is, it would open recipes without studying them, but ignoring the need for the right crafting station, like recipes for ruins, for example. This would be super useful, especially considering the discussion around the book about the full moon, and how an iridescent gem (and all ruin crafts for that matter) cannot be obtained in a world without caves. We can get gems from Dragonfly and thulecite from sunken treasure chests, but without a crafting station, nothing can be done with them. This would make this character super cool in general, although right now the encyclopedia is too cheap for this, which is why an upgraded version with more difficult craft would make more sense.

Actually it would make more sense to be a temporarily effect, right now wicker doesnt need more than a scince machine, which is really strong during early game. And to be honest i just wanted to make post about a book that its not lunar gremoire :/. I do believe that everything encyclopedia is really strong for early game and i just wanted to talk about it. cx

Alright now THIS I absolutely need. Please Klei? :>

Bonus points if both encyclopedias are the only books that retain their effect when read by any characters. These are encyclopedias. Books that exist to explain things. Basically, it would eliminate the need to constantly switch to Wicker just to create something in a world without caves. She's still a strong character without this, so it won't make her useless just because of the loss of the unique right to read one book that doesn't even have a "magic" effect. Plus, other characters may have a stronger loss of sanity from this and they will have to be careful with timely recharging of the book. And again, recipes are not remembered forever. If Klei doesn't do this, give this idea to some moder.

of course it's intended, because combining of 2 pieces of egyptian paper and a stone block with a golden cap provides you a forbidden knowledge about everything humanity knows, same as IRL

P.S.: Btw why I haven't seen "EVERYTHING ENCYCLOPEDIA IS OP plz nerf thx" rants during beta?

well thats cause this game is divided in 3 parts, early game, mid game and late game. And of course something that is strong in early game is not as good as things that are strong in mid or late game. And btw thats the reason all people were talking about lunar book during beta, a book that is strong in mid to late game being so cheap lmao. Its actually funny, these books are the opposite of each other in a sense of utility, lunar gremoire is mediocre during early game but fairly strong in mid and late game while everything encyclopedia is really strong during early game but totally useless in mid and late game. :willow:
